Milling a Black Walnut Log for a Live Edge Fireplace Mantle

In this video, I've been commissioned to cut a beautiful live edge slab from a black walnut log, utilizing my Woodland Mills HM130MAX Sawmill. The customer plans to dry and finish the piece into a stunning mantle. The final dimensions of the mantle will be approximately 6 feet in length, 4 inches thick, and 7 inches deep. To account for shrinkage during drying and allow for post-dry surfacing, I'm cutting the slab slightly larger than the final measurements. Although the camera stopped recording before I could debark, trim, and seal the ends, you'll still get to see the essential steps of this process.
