Our Man in Japan is one of the best shows James May has ever done. I've probably watched it half a dozen times or more. I love his solo projects.

They are a group called “Zenryoku Boys”.
“Zenryoku” means do own best.
Their base of activity is Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.
They are lucky to meet James.
If this program had been presented by anyone else I’d have skipped over it, love a bit of James May his & Oz Clark’s wine adventure was good viewing
Shijo-Ohashi is a bridge representative of Kyoto that crosses the Kamo River over Shijo Street. It is also called Gion Bashi.

Thank you @The Grand Tour, thank you for prompting my memories of Japan back in 1980ish... forgive me, I am an old man of 64 with mental probs, so cannot off my head give precise dates, but I lived there for a while, and my girlfriend back then was the most beatiful woman I have ever been with, and the sex.... never had better ANYWHERE in the world... and I have lived in MANY countries, 33 in total

You’re right mostly, but Japanese people observe etiquette, duty, and decorum to an extreme degree. Status and class are huge sources of prejudice, everything has a ritual and an expectation. Underneath it all they might be genuine, but it’s a very conservative society.
