From an acorn a big oak grows. An anecdote from my childhood - when out with my grandad, in Belfast, walking around the shops. He would see something he liked and would ponder it, then put his hand in his pocket and rub his pennies together; liking the feel of the pennies in his pocket, he would walk on. I loved that old man, he was so much of an example to a young boy.

@@bernadettefry8663 I’m curious: is Ireland being “forced” to take any more immigrants than the rest of the world, proportionally? Not looking to pick a fight, mind you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! @@bernadettefry8663 I’m curious: is Ireland being “forced” to take any more immigrants than the rest of the world, proportionally? Not looking to pick a fight, mind you. My wife and I were just there in October for two weeks. Mostly in the northwest: Clifden, Athenry, Donegal. Came across a few obvious non-locals, one of which was a rather surly cab driver. But, immigration was often being discussed in the little pubs, too.
Send em all back, then send all the irish from around the world back to Ireland, then see the trouble we would be in. Another irish saying. Be careful what u wish for.
