About her little bum swing, I have seen similar moves in my geldings when they fight over their fence, but I think it was confusion. My gelding can get really confused and even very frustrated when I'm trying to teach him something. He does weird moves like that when he's flustered. I've been trying to teach him "hugs" but all he thinks to do is back up lol!
She really is a beautiful horse, you’ve done so well training her. She’s so sweet, just like you, and you two (and zin) are such a good group. Obviously it’s hard to train, especially a mustang- but it’s equally fun and enjoyable. Most of the time!
I really appreciate the updates! They help remind me that taking it slow is OK, and I can see how much happier Zara is than many horses I see that are being trained without positive reinforcement. Keep it up!
You’ve done such a great job on her. I admire your patience, not everyone has enough horsemanship to take it slow and train a horse right. Blessings from another Texas horseman!
I’m so glad that she is back to her normal self! She has made so much wonderful progress!! I know it’s such a relief when our furry friends are back to themselves! You did a great job finding the solution to her problems! Have a wonderful day, I’m praying for you and your journey with the horses! 💛
You are doing a great job with Zara! She has improved greatly! You are such a patient trainer, and you never rush your horses to learn something. I really love watching all of your videos! Keep it up!
She looks completely different! Her carriage is much calmer and she's not holding as much tension in her body and doesn't look as rigid. Also her movement! She's free flowing from poll to tail when working with you and looks like she's super bodily engaged but relaxed. At first glance, the side passing could be her confusing the cue. To me, it looks like she's totally cued into you and is asking/ready for more. With my girls I cue them for "behind" whenever I'm near their butt or "under" when I go under their neck and "side" for side passing, and it took just adding the word to the action in the right tone of energy with a reward and they picked it up really quickly and it reinforced our communication and their trust in me. This was after I had started them and their behaviors were "asking" me to operate using certain cues and I call it their "terms and conditions" for interaction. With her, I would say it's very similar where shes' not confused per say but is giving you a behavior partly shaped for you to continue shaping. I see it as a golden opportunity to start lateral work with her! When a horse does a thing and it's a behavior I know I want to install for later for whatever purpose I just shape it positively from where it started. TBH this is how my two OTTBs learned a lot of their behaviors, just by experience and learning from interaction. Obviously not every moment is perfect, but they are all learning moments. Why I feel like positive assocation and rewards work so well is because it takes the pressure away from the act itself and into the connection and tuning into your horse and how they are communicating with you, and leaving room for the horse to make mistakes and learn from them, safely and positively. I did this with my girls about stepping on leads. We worked in a controlled enviroment with pressure but ocassionally they would catch themselves and were super explosive at first. But once they realized they weren't going to be punished and could move their bodies after it happened a couple of times it became no big deal and they also became more in tune with me when they had an oopsie. Because I stayed calm but supportive, consistently, they developed a sense of comfort from my prsence. You're doing amazing and this journey is so NOT linear. She is coming along so well and you are doing an outstanding job of giving her a solid foundation and she is clearly thriving. She looks great aand keep up the amaing work! ❤❤
Oh my goodness what a huge difference! You've done so so well with her! And what a great reminder that sometimes, behavioral issues are entirely to due with them not feeling well, not them being "bad".
I love your view on training I am trying to become a Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning, and one of the biggest things we are supposed to teach is viewing our horse as a partner vs a tool. This has been very hard for me because I am a very affectionate person, and my horse is not. I have to learn to respect his boundaries. I also understand the frustrations of regression and just feeling like the horse is doing everything but what you want. I am learning to cope with PTSD and anxiety, and I have had to learn how to leave my feeling of frustrations out of the arena. I have noticed when I dont our horses are a lot more pushy and get on my nerves. I even had a rider nearly fall off a couple months ago, and had another horse buck with a different rider. Its times like these I just have to remember even the best trained horses aren't perfect and neither are we. Be kind to yourself I have so enjoyed watching you work with Zara.
Wow the progress with her is insane!! You are so good at this!! Not just anyone can handle a wild mustang like her, end yet she’s already so calm and comfortable! Your doing amazing with her. Keep going! And don’t give up. Your patience with her is so amazing, you have so much of it. And that’s a good thing. ❤️🐴
I’m so glad Zara is doing better! She’s so precious. It’s always concerning whenever the vet has to come, but I would be especially panicked if I found out my horse had worms. You should very proud of Zara, and yourself, with all the progress it seems to be going VERY well with her!
I’m so happy and proud for you! You’ve made so much progress with her in only a week! You are such an amazing horse person and I love that you care so much and never stop trying!
Yay!! She's doing so well! I can see her improvement and calmer demeanor as well. Your doing so great, keep up the good work, your content never gets old! Cant wait for the next one! 🥰
Watching this is so great. I've watched your videos for quite some time now and you are truly inspiring. It's great to see how you don't lose faith in your mustangs even when you have some downs. I recently started to work with a seven year old gelding who has never really been trained. He spooks a lot and only feels safe in his paddock, so bringing him outside or even riding him isn't possible at the moment. Since the beginning of February, I tried to teach him how to bow. Yesterday was his first time actually doing it properly. I'm so proud of him. Liberty training is fine to him, but leading is difficult. We're taking small steps, but I'm sure with a lot of patience and love we'll work it out! (Sorry for my English btw, I'm not a native speaker..)
She’s so gorgeous! You and zara make a great team! So happy for you that she’s been doing better!! Hope you’re doing well, I’ve been praying for you (and the horses) 💕✨
You're doing such an amazing job with training her!! She seems to really like and trust you, which is wonderful!! 6:50 It looks like (to me) she was trying to get closer to you while still performing the command.
Zara has such a personality! You’re doing such a great job training her and Zinfandel for a beginner trainer! Don’t listen to the people sending you hate and all that nonsense!
I LOVE Zara! Magnesium probably helped a lot! And I'm so glad you feel comfortable to share about her again! My friend has a rambunctious horse, and his horse is on magnesium, he said the horse Is calmer now😊
WOW!! A HUGE change!!! I have my horses on a calming supplement too and it helps! From what I saw? Her bum swinging over seemed to be out of confusion. So glad shes doing SO well!
She definitely calmer! Way to go! She is such a smart horse and I am sure that she will learn what you mean when you tell her to back up. Can’t wait to see more videos! 😀
You have done such a great job training her and she is DEFINITELY way calmer than before and she obviously really trusts you!! I love your updates and your hard work!!! Very enjoyable to watch!!
Ok so I haven’t finished the video yet but I can’t believe how calm she’s acting and I think it’s great that you’re willing to teach her to halter in different ways!
Huge huge difference! You are doing sooooo amazing! Love watching your progress with the mustangs and watching you grow in your journey makes my heart so happy!
Wow, that backup was superb! 👏she is so in tune with you! And that idea of drawing the rope behind for leading omg! So clever, I'm taking note of that one 🤩 You know what, I think the health condition had to be a great part of it, I mean just imagine how draining must be for the body to deal with, we have to give it to her the right to feel unsettled... I wanted to suggest if you don't mind me, I was struggling a bit with the nose in the halter with Marley, and what I end up finding out is that my position was part of the confusion, and when I started to stand next to his shoulder kinda tilted facing him, holding the noseband open about belly high, he started to just put his nose in by lowering his head very easily and happily, however, when I stud ahead of him, on the front or holding the halter high he will struggle and get frustrated, so I thought maybe my experience could help 🙃 Also, I kinda feel you when you had your "bad" stage, sometimes we do amazing, and all of the sudden at some stages we backtrack and felt a little frustrated or upset... then I came across this podcast called " In the Spirit of the Horse" and it was in the episode " Un-breaking a Horse - When all they say is "No" " and omg, that was so profound, I totally understood why he was saying No, and how much they playing up or saying No actually improves and deepens the relationship! So I thought I'll share... I felt so upset about your previous video, that somebody could make you feel that way when you're doing an exceptional job! I mean, you can simply tell by how upset Zini got when you ask her to get in the trailer for the first time at home! ( baring in mind her association to the trailer at that time was going to live somewhere else and never come back) however, as soon she realized she didn't have to go anywhere, she was more than happy to hop on and off haha Which just shows how much she loves being there! 😍 Sorry rant over 😆😘
She's doing way better! so glad you sorted the spook issue. Good luck on your incredible journey together, I'll be following your progress every step of the way!
I think she's more steady, but that's just from seeing her in videos. I think the positive reinforcement is an excellent training method and Zara is really looking good. I would interpret that her swinging her backside to you as a warning but that's just how I would react. You guys are doing great!
I just wanted to say this is absolutely fantastic! I love it and I'm so glad you've gotten your mustangs, always love it when people rescue horses and put the time into them otherwise they'd have completely different lives or possibly be on the meat truck! You are very pretty and so are your horses! Keep doing what you are doing! Also I gotta say I'm so jealous! I want to work with mustangs so badly but it's too expensive to ship them up to Canada for me atm hahaha! Oh well! I'm perfectly happy working with my horsies and watching you work with yours!
Wow! Deworming Zara made a big difference!! I'm so glad!! So, the turning hindquarters thing might just be her being confused. Your right to be cautious, but personally I would start focusing on grooming her hindquarters more, and see if that helps. And I'm so happy shes not blowing up for the rope dragging! Personally, you are doing perfect steps with her, and I cant wait to see more progress!!! 😊👍
My instructor uses the same sort of feed to calm down an X-Racehorse at my barn. It works like magic! So exited to see that Zara is able to Train easier now!
Awesome job! As for the bum swing, my mare does the same thing when I ask her to back up sometimes, just because she doesn’t understand what I’m asking. Also sometimes my mare sidesteps to avoid backing up, so that may be it. Anyway, awesome job!
Re the “being a bad rider” thing- I think that being able to balance yourself on a horse is only one aspect of horsemanship. Groundwork often gets overlooked and there are so many people who are “good riders” who use cruel methods.
One more thing I wanted to ask: Could you do a video " Western riders Vs. English"? I bet you could make it really funny 😄 No pressure though! Thought if you ran out of comedy ideas that could be one to do! Love your videos!
And Zara is doing really good! You are really great at training her. I know i don't know more than you about training horses probably, but i'm just telling you if she has a bad day and you both get stressed don't let it discourage you. And i'm not saying this from anything in the video and i don't think y'all are having bad days, i'm just saying this because from experience sometimes things don't go as planned and you can easily get stressed. Just make sure you end on a positive note. There are ups and downs to training horses, but y'all got this!
Wow! She really is a completely different horse! You are so amazing and look after the horses so well. Love, love, love your videos they are a huge inspiration 💕
My arabian when he gets confused also shows me his hind quarters. At first I tought he was being cheeky but because he does it so slowly and calmy I just let him do it. Also youre doing an amazing job with Zara. Its incredible how far shes gotten.
Great progress with Zara, most definitely a change in her body language. She does seem more settled and confident. Also, How the boys doing? Is your friend still engaged with them? Did she pick names yet? How is the trip planning going? Still on?

I’m so happy for her & you. Medical reasons often get so overlooked but can make such a difference! She must be feeling SO good.
Awww Zara is looking so much better! watching her respond to the "opps" is so cute! haha

She has improved soooo much thank you gyspsy equestrian for showing us your progress bc we all know how busy you are whit the horses
Zara and you are both so smart! You can tell she knows exactly what you want her to do with the cue words!
Oh my goodness what a huge difference! You've done so so well with her!
And what a great reminder that sometimes, behavioral issues are entirely to due with them not feeling well, not them being "bad".
It must be so rewarding to see how she's changed and grown. I can tell she is much calmer, your doing so good with her. (And zinny)

yeah that makes sense
She's doing so good! i think the backup stuff is just confusion. You can see her trying to backup, and she is definitely much calmer
zaras doing so good!!! im glad shes better and not as spooky shes learning so much new things!!!
So happy to hear that Zara is calmer! Love your channel ❤️
You are both doing amazing! She looks much more relaxed and like she is thinking more instead of spooking.
Youve done so much work
I'm so glad she's doing better! This training method is blowing my mind 🤯 I've never seen anything like it before. Thank you for sharing.
Yes Zara looks a Lot calmer. I’m so glad! Keep up the good work!
Zara has such a personality! You’re doing such a great job training her and Zinfandel for a beginner trainer! Don’t listen to the people sending you hate and all that nonsense!
Well done and Zara is adorable. I cant wait to see her tacked up and you on board.
I LOVE Zara!
Magnesium probably helped a lot!
And I'm so glad you feel comfortable to share about her again!

Your patience is 100% 👍🏽
You've come leaps and bounds!!! 😍 Some of what you're teaching Zara is making me think it may be a good idea to teach my domestic filly, too!
She definitely calmer! Way to go! She is such a smart horse and I am sure that she will learn what you mean when you tell her to back up. Can’t wait to see more videos! 😀
She is absolutely stunning! Your a lucky lady!
You have done such a great job training her and she is DEFINITELY way calmer than before and she obviously really trusts you!! I love your updates and your hard work!!! Very enjoyable to watch!!
This is so cool!! You have done a great job with both horses!! 💜💜 I love how calm both of them are, and they definitely trust you so much!!
Zara is beautiful! I love to watch your progress.

Here in Louisiana the weather is weird too. One day it's so hot then the next you're freezing lol
YOU ARE SO INSPIRING! God bless you!! I want a mustang now! So contagious 😜 I’ve been following you for FOREVER!!
Ok so I haven’t finished the video yet but I can’t believe how calm she’s acting and I think it’s great that you’re willing to teach her to halter in different ways!

So glad it’s going better!
She is so cute it brings tears to my eyes!🤠🐴💕
I think she's more steady, but that's just from seeing her in videos. I think the positive reinforcement is an excellent training method and Zara is really looking good. I would interpret that her swinging her backside to you as a warning but that's just how I would react. You guys are doing great!
I agree its always better safe than sorry
I'm so happy for you! I love you and all your horses. Zara is so beautiful! You are making great progress. Keep up the good work!
Ooh 26 seconds! Zara is adorable
This was posted only three minutes ago! Earliest I've been to ANY video. Looks good so far. Hope it keeps going well
I just wanted to say this is absolutely fantastic!
Amazing work gypsy! 🤩🤩

Woohoo! Way to go Zara, man she's doing GREAT! I'm so glad she's doing way better. You guys look awesome!!!!!
your doing so well, and i love Zara shes bueatiful (:
My instructor uses the same sort of feed to calm down an X-Racehorse at my barn. It works like magic! So exited to see that Zara is able to Train easier now!
Lol Tennessee weather is the exact same! Your doing so great with them!
Utah weather too lol
Awesome job! As for the bum swing, my mare does the same thing when I ask her to back up sometimes, just because she doesn’t understand what I’m asking. Also sometimes my mare sidesteps to avoid backing up, so that may be it. Anyway, awesome job!
Re the “being a bad rider” thing- I think that being able to balance yourself on a horse is only one aspect of horsemanship. Groundwork often gets overlooked and there are so many people who are “good riders” who use cruel methods.
she is doing sooo good!!!😊
So happy for you!! Hope you keep progressing!
One more thing I wanted to ask: Could you do a video " Western riders Vs. English"? I bet you could make it really funny 😄 No pressure though! Thought if you ran out of comedy ideas that could be one to do! Love your videos!
She is doing wonderfully, great job
She is doing amazing and you are such a great trainer
I am so happy for you guys!!!!!❤️
you do such an amazing job!! I see a lot of progress!!
And Zara is doing really good! You are really great at training her.
I know i don't know more than you about training horses probably, but i'm just telling you if she has a bad day and you both get stressed don't let it discourage you. Wow! She really is a completely different horse! You are so amazing and look after the horses so well. Love, love, love your videos they are a huge inspiration 💕
Huge progress!!!!!
WELL DONE MARINA AND ZARA !!!!! I can really see an improvement , keep up the Amazing work !!!
She looks a lot calmer. When I got my roping horse 22 years ago I got some calming nose spray from the vet. It worked.
Great! Glad she's doing so much better!
Still on?
Veyr happpy for Zara and your progress! Can we get an update on Zinfandel?
Such a huge difference! I can't get over how gorgeous she is 😍
