I would but I feel like its been done by many others and Im currently working on some blender related videos involving quest models, the other videos out there im sure have even done it a lot better than I couldve. I may do a bit more in depth video down the line, I really appreciate the suggestion
@@MarcadiesGaming Well dang, I did some digging myself and couldnt find a real in depth video on emissions, unless its buried, I'll take a look and see if I can make a quick video maybe, I'll let you know
@@MarcadiesGaming Really sorry for such a delay, things have been fairly busy leading into the new year and Im not finding much time to summarize and make a decent video on that specific topic, however there is an official poiyomi video here: ua-cam.com/video/iqk23gtwkz0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=poiyomi Which entails all of the ins and outs of emissions, its a bit lengthy but very informative. Hope you have a good day!
Sorry man my time is really valuable as of recent so I'll have to decline. I would recommend checking out some creator discords and looking for some people to help you out there.
Well not necessarily I don't think, long answer; you can maybe find some custom shader script, but poiyomi is standardized with a lot of functionalities built in like the glowing. The glow, lighting and textures in the video are because of poiyomi. Short answer; Poiyomi is the easiest and best way to get the glow I know. Hope this helps
@@wron1 Thx alot mate and can you do a video tutorial for spawn animation FOR vrchat IN unity. I did a research on this topic but only ended up with this quick and not so sensible video on youtube ua-cam.com/video/W3DlMzUZcBM/v-deo.html plz do a video on this with every detail on how to place effects and make your character appear after the animation is done sorry for the long request this is the most requested topic for vrchat in its forums youll standout more if you explain it really well i hope you see this and make a vid on this
Not sure to be honest. I made this tutorial with PC models in mind only. I have seen some amazing things done for quest though also. I would highly recommend searching for a quest specific tutorial!
@@wron1 from what i saw, on quest you can only use the "toonlit" texture, so basically it won't glow. Maybe there's a way to do that but after searching for a whole week and found nothing, i just give up😅
Atleast in paint 3d you can make objects 3 dimensional and then push and pull them to be in front of or behind other objects, if you're using photoshop you just set the tattoo layer above the black screen layer
@@rave2861 Umm you'll need some sort of body texture to work with, if not you can make one I suppose, but you'll need to normalize it in blender and that may be a bit of a pain. Checkout UV mapping and basic blender tutorials on materials if you're trying to do all of that. I recommend just getting a different model honestly
Im not too advanced in quest models, but when I check the official website regarding quest model limitations the only thing Im seeing is a Lit matcap and a lit toon shader which are native to VrChat, you could maybe mess around with those a bit, but to make them similar to poiyomi might take some custom shaders, that of which im not sure how to get, I'll look a bit more into it and reply here if I find anything
use the standard lite shader on your skin material. keep the texture the same and then click the box that says emission and put the emission map in there, and you can select whatever color you want for the emission
@@Octy_Pod The black part is a 3d shape Im placing on top of the body texture, and to make the tattoos white im just using the fill tool with the color white, hopefully that helps
So every avatar is going to have a body texture, some more detailed than others and in this case the detailing helps me locate parts of the body, you can make body textures yourself and UV map in blender if you like. This specific texture is native to the base model. Simply found in the avatar package files.
Thanks a lot for the video, it helped me out a lot. I was wondering, is there a way to make the emission "breathe" so that it would get brighter and dimmer in-game? Thanks!
Hmmmm you could try messing around with the scrolling emission coupled with the blinking emission, but that still gives more of a pulsating effect. To my knowledge the only way to truly make a pulsating effect is with an animation that increases and decreases emission strength and repeats
You should be able to just google it, like tattoo png, or transparent tattoo, you can see in the image preview whether or not the background is actually transparent. You can also even just make your own in photoshop or paint if you need to
Not exactly sure, it was from a model named Ben that a friend of mine gifted me. I belive it is just the code vein body that was going around a year ago which has since been sort of dropped due to TDA restrictions and such.

its a really good tutorial tho thank you
btw which sdk did you use?
Happy I could help! Im using sdk 3.0 in this video but the older version, so the 2020.11.30 version

How did you make the tattoos white
I just filled in the tattoo using the paint bucket and a white color

the tattoo turns out skin colored instead of black when i add the texture to the avatar. why does that happen?
So with the edited texture you're seeing the tattoos as the skin color? Is this with or without the emissions?
is poiyomi shaders pack required for the glowing effect to work or no
