What can I say Luke, content and quality never fails. Its over 40 years since I did an "all nighter" as a spotter, Preston based, but did the odd stint at Doncaster. Certainly takes me back, even though the locos are very different these days. Thanks for your efforts👍
Thanks a lot Frank, not having access to the stations seems to have put the stop to overnighters for most people sadly. Bet there was some fantastic variety overnight 40 years ago!
Well done on completing the 24hrs and still being able to stand and talk, I’d be shattered 😂.
Well done Luke. Another 24 hour epic. I would be lucky to last 24 minutes!! Thanks again. Ken
Great effort again Luke, well done on surviving another 24 hour marathon! 😊Faves from this one were the 47's and the Colas 70's running around - they don't hang about!! Looking forward now to the next Diaries vid! Keith
Thanks a lot Keith, it was touch and go for those last few hours I was so knackered. Hopefully have the next Diaries for August out on Friday 👍🏻
Kudos to you Luke. You made it and did well. A thoroughly enjoyable part 2 as well. A great couple of videos to celebrate your much deserved 2000 subscribers 👏🏻
Thanks a lot mate, really means a lot that. Starting to get dangerously close to 3k now so I better start prepping to do it all over again!
Great to see a different side of Stafford station and all the night freight. Love the bingo sheet.
Fantastic video of 24 hours at Stafford in two parts, has to be one of my favourite stations. Well done for surviving the whole day haha. Very nice indeed! Enjoyed that, thanks for sharing!
Haha thanks mate, really glad you enjoyed it. Definitely of my favourites too after that stint!
Quality set of videos, reminds me of an overnighter we did years back at York. Lots more locos then, with parcels, letters and newspaper trains running all night. Great idea filming it, hope to see more of this content soon. 😀👍🏻
Thanks a lot mate 👍🏻 much more coming soon. Already thinking about ideas for the next 24 hours and have a new series coming up soon which should be just as good!
Wow what a great selection or freight, thank you for sharing & doing the 24 hour marathon, 🎉🎉🎉
My pleasure mate, was a lot of fun to film. Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Thanks for another great one Luke. We appreciate the time and trouble it takes and all the time it takes to edit. (Was that Ronald McDonald doing his morning exercises @ 15.50?)
Thanks a lot Bill as always 👍🏻 not sure what was going on there! Must have been an early start for the guy and he was doing stretches haha.
Top man Luke for a superb 24 video. You really make the effort to produce some great footage despite the cold etc. love the commentary f2f that makes it real. 3k is not far away 👍👍👍
Cheers Andy, very much appreciate that. Was hoping in August I wouldn’t have to put up with the cold but can’t win em all. Let’s hope 3k comes around before it gets too bloody cold haha.
Like the view from the carpark 👍
Thanks mate, it was better than expected to be honest. Glad it worked out or there would have been a whole of nothing filmed through those few hours like Donny.
Cracking 24 hours Luke, enjoy a trip to Stafford however its usually a few hours not the marathon!! Do like the footbridge views aswell, well done on a great watch, ATB Bellers
Cheers Bellers 👍🏻 that bridge is called Crinoline bridge if you fancy heading down there the next time you’re in Staff. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the station but definitely worth it for those shots.
Absolutely awesome 24hrs at Stafford, what a cracking variety of freight for us to see. I think it's off to bed for you my friend for some well deserved rest.😊
Thanks very much! Im still feeling it now haha but a great couple of days to be sure.
Great couple of videos, plenty of variety as always on the WCML, you certainly have more stamina than I have these days, I salute you for that - I wish my back and legs were up to the job of standing for even a quarter of that length of time, congratulations of the 2K subs, here's to the 5k total being reached ;) will that be a champagne party? hahaha
Thanks a lot Tim 👍🏻 haha if we ever reach that I’ll take a bottle to wherever we do the special!
Before becoming nearly housebound I would spend a 3 day stint once a month at Stafford, watching this was just like being there again. Really enjoyed it thanks.
That’s sad to hear mate but I’m glad I could bring you some nostalgia. I’ll have to plan another trip down there to get you some fresh footage (maybe not for 24 hours though haha).
Cracking vid luke, my days of overnights are long gone!! Very enjoyable.
Cheers Howard, I wish they were for me every time I get back haha. Glad to hear you enjoyed it though, makes it worthwhile.
Excellent stamina! "Aurora" (twice) and the 2x68s would be my highlights 😏
Thanks Kryss, always a highlight hearing the 68’s. Will be a shame the TPE ones will be going from my route at the end of this year.
Sterling work. Great stamina shown but well worth it my comfy chair here in Mossley. Lovely to see the re-purposed 321s in service. Great idea. Thanks again and have a coffee on me. :)
Cheers mate, not quite sure how I managed it in the end. Felt a lot tougher than Donny. Makes it all worthwhile to hear how much you guys enjoyed it though. Massively appreciate the tip, this content is free for anyone so it makes me eternally grateful when someone puts something towards it, cheers mate it will be reinvested in trips out 👍🏻
Great video and variety, the 321 was great. im still yet so see that. id be shattered recording for this long, i wouldve needed 1000 red bulls haha
Haha thanks mate, yeah it’s really nice seeing a new operator doing something like mail. Off camera I’d have about a thousand coffees and a handful of red bulls lol.
Well done Marathon Man! Excellent like Part 1. Thanks, cheers from NZ, Marty
Cheers Marty 👍🏻 massively appreciate that from all the way down there, glad to hear you enjoyed the trip!
P.S. if you win the giveaway I’ll be screwed haha.
@@DiggleJunction Ha - if I’m that lucky I’d be happy to chuck in a few quid for the postman! Cheers
Like & liked - herculean effort - beautifully shot & well presented - thank you
what a cracking video m8 great dedication from yourself keep up the good work buddy
Well done Luke thank you
I feel like “it was only a HST” isn’t going age well considering their numbers are dwindling!
Nice video and some great catches
Very good point and thinking about it now it was definitely the wrong thing to say. Especially considering I’m trying to work out a trip from Penzance to Aberdeen on a HST before it’s not possible anymore.
Awesome effort. 24 hours at Stafford contains about as much freight as we get in a month through Huddersfield if not more 😂😂
Haha probably more mate judging by how long it takes me to edit! Cheers Isaac 👍🏻
Not a bad view from the top of car park Luke. Well done for another 24 hour. Where next 🤣🤣
Cheers mate, yeah it turned out better than I’d hoped actually. Was just glad I could still see stuff to film in those closed hours unlike Donny. I’ll start putting together a shortlist for 3k when we get a bit closer!
Great videos indeed ! Super qualify ! Fulda in Germany when done over nighters there 50+ an hour ! Reckon Still is
Cheers Andy! I wouldn’t be able to keep up with 50 an hour haha, that’s crazy!
Great video, don't see many 90s now running last night read that db and f liner not using them because of electricity prices
Thanks a lot mate. Yeah sadly that’s exactly why they’re not being used. DB have put theirs into store and FL look to only be using theirs in the middle of the night when it’s cheapest.
Cracking video, brave man. 350258 my last 350 required for sight continues to evade me
Cheers David 👍🏻 I’ll have to keep my eye open for 258 next time I’m out on the West Coast, should be at Acton next week. If I see it I’ll bang it in a video haha.
i wouldnt of been able to do that well done
Cheers Stephen, I was questioning my ability to after about 18 hours haha.
Thanks!
fab part 2 Luke how busy is stafford !
Cheers mate! I was hoping for a bit of a lull overnight so I could get a sleep in the car but barely had 10 mins to sit and get warm before going out for something!
Carlisle always used to be good for overnighters back when Speedlink services were running and Ravenscraig steel works was open
I really need to get myself up to Carlisle for a day of spotting. From the vids you see on here it always looks like a top notch place.
Part 2 done 24 hours done trying to think what you could next 24 hours in London ? Or Scotland ? Great vid any way
I’d definitely like to do something around London or even north of border. Just need to find somewhere that’s reliably busy with freight. Thanks a lot mate.
Thanks for staying up through the night so we don't have to!
Was going to say “my pleasure” Nigel but saw this was on the Stafford video, was a very tough night that one! First and only time I’ve accidentally fallen asleep doing one of these specials.
Left field suggestion for the 3k 24 hours. Somewhere like Basingstoke, Southampton Central or Tonbridge on the 3rd rail network. Then you can do 'North of London' freight & get some 73s/69s.
Thanks for the suggestion mate, I’d really like to do something south of London or around London so I’ll look into those three places. Would be nice to have somewhere completely different from up here.
A marathon session that but we’ll worth it from a viewers point of view. Pity they don’t want you on the station overnight but what the heck.
Cheers mate, after all is said and done it was well worth it to film too. Hopefully for the next one whoever runs the station will actually get back to me prior to the trip about permission to staying overnight.
Good job Luke. One question only. When the 66's reach their use by date, does British rail freight movement dwindle to nothing or will the 66's go on forever? 😊
Haha there will be loco builders in for a big pay day when that date comes! Although it feels like they’ll go on forever. Don’t think any new ones are allowed to be ordered anymore though as they don’t meet modern emissions regs.
Absolutely excellent well done, though not sure if you surpassed the Donny total, if you do another Luke, how about Eastleigh?
Cheers John, definitely felt like it was much busier than Donny. Eastleigh is on my list as I’ve got a mate down there too, just need to make sure it’s reliably busy enough on any random day.
Well done Luke, another great video. Just interested to know, do you have access to a website that gives the numbers of the locos/units, as I quite often miss the number's while videoing.
Thanks a lot Mike. Unfortunately I have to rely on good old notes for the most part. Realtimetrains will give me the numbers for GBRF and a few others but most not sadly. I also record in 60 fps so I can usually go back through the video and stop a frame on the number incase I forget.
Another great job, thanks Luke. They certainly keep going round the clock, did they leave the station lights on for you especially? ;-) One of the Ford workings was a long one, excuse my ignorance but is there a limit in the UK on the length of a train?
Thanks a lot mate, I’d like to think so as I did tell the night staff I was going to be on the car park but not sure haha. I’m sure there must be a limit because of signalling sections but not actually sure what it is.
Brill video what spot off the station is that mate where you saw Aurora?
Thanks mate, it’s called Crinoline Bridge just to the south of the station. It’s just at the end of Siemens Rd if you look on Google Maps 👍🏻
Whats happen to rachel shaun angel of crewe they just disapeared 😢
I’m not sure mate I just noticed myself. I know they had some issues with their giveaways or something so hopefully it’s not involved in that. Or hopefully they can come back in another guise.
how do you connect your external microphone to your phone? mine doesnt have a plug-in thing so when i got a new phone i couldnt use it
I’ve got an aux to lightning adapter mate so I can plug it into the iPhone charging slot. You need the right cable too that’s meant for smartphones not cameras 👍🏻
Another cracking video, I lost count of how many 66's you saw but i think you're 2 or 3 adrift of your count tally. Look forward to the next epic.
Thanks a lot mate, glad you enjoyed it. It was really hard to keep track of em as I didn’t want to count the same loco if I saw it twice. Have a feeling the next one will be pretty darn good!
Superb job Bud .!!👏👏 that was awesome.!!
Thanks a lot pal, glad you enjoyed it, really makes it worthwhile!
