@@francismartino6890 it sat on my back deck for about 2yrs. Not in the kydex sheath. There was minor surface rust, and pitting just through the paint. Cleaned up with about an hour of work.
Looked at it long enough and had to get one. I really like the size and the sheath is nice with the plastic insert. Very lite. If your a knife person then you need one in your collection.
Tis a handsome blade indeed sire! As you mentioned, that SOG SEAL PUP has been around for quite a few years now, I've heard nothing but good things. I've always wanted one but never have got one for whatever reason... cool vid!
That sucks. I've had my seal pup for 12 years now. It's been across the USA, several hiking trips, thrown an untold amount of times (lol) blades pretty beat up now though. Still use it to make firestarter or peel green limbs and try to make twine/rope. It's a pretty decent bushcraft knife for fun but it lacks a full length tang so I wouldn't trust my long term wilderness survival on it
I like mine! I shot some footage almost a month ago doing some testing so hopefully I will do the video sometime in the next two weeks. Great job and congrats on 5K subs!!!!
Great Knife! I made a comment on 50stitches about the sheath. I create Tactical Kydex sheaths for 100 plus knives I carry and I do a LOT of business with Military , Police and others serious about an upgrade to their knives. I sell on eBay under the user name ARMORsheaths. I also do custom work to individualize the sheath to function and feel the way the customer needs it.
I feel like this is the perfect fixed blade for a lot of people. Especially for people who are new knives and are still in the tacticool phase. This knife is a practical design but looks badass. It’s also a great price
I like the fact that this knife (M37-N) in the cheap packaging (Mine had Lee Ermey's face on it) with it's shorter blade and nylon sheath is often sold for under $40. And it's really a nice quality, easy to grip, lightweight, and sharp knife. I'd like to have a Brute or one of the SEAL knives with the Tiger Stripe pattern, but I am still happy I own the budget model.
9" overall, same length as my........ my 300 blackout upper, what did you think I was gonna say? :) hahahah I love that man, love fixed blade knives. Great overview man. I dig it.
They must have changed the scabbard design. When I bought mine in 1999 it came in a full glass reinforced plastic scabbard that had a satisfying snap when ever resheathed. I'm not sure where I have it at the moment, but if I come across it, I'll post pics.
Legato Bluesummers The finger guard actually serves a dual purpose if the knife gets stuck in something or someone... put your thumb on the top of the blade in the groove and your index finger just in front of the hand guard and behind the large gap of the serrated edge and it gives you much greater leverage and control for removing the knife from however it's stuck. I hope this helps.
I really like that knife. I got a outdoor edge with aus 8 steel thst I use for deer hunting and the 5 deer I skinned with it this year u could still shave hair in your arm. We just did a quick run thru on a hand sharpener to keep the edge.nice video
muzzleblast1911 I like the AUS 8 for my folders but the only thick fixed blades I have are all 1095 or 440 so its good to hear this steel holds up under hard use. Thanks for the heads up
The short K-BAR polymer handle is a much better knife. I got the seal pup at my bx and after seeing the big ass CHINA stamp, I immediately returned it. The Ka-bar is all around a much higher quality product.
I have the newer Seal Pup Elite. It's in AUS8 too, I never cared about the AUS8, but what S.O.G. does with their Cryo Tempering is pretty good stuff, I also got the S.O.G. Trident 2.o a beautiful smaller version of a copy of the S.O.G. Knives of the Vietnam era, anyhow both knives like you said hold their edge, I like the Cryo a little better then what some knife company do with their Sub-Zero Quench, maybe it's just my imagination, but I do like both my knibes, especially my Trident 2.0, both my Trident and my Seal Pup Elite are tactical looking knives, but to my surprise I use them when I go into the bush especially my Seal Pup Elite the difference between my Elite and the regular Seal Pup is the Elite has more jumping on the blade and I think it's just a little bigger, but again what S.O.G. does with their Cryo Tempering for the price your getting a knife that holds a pretty good edge, Thanx for the reminder.
Yeah the Seal Pup Elite is defenetly worth it, it's just slightly larger and more jumping on the spine of the blade, but very comfortable hold's your hand right in, like I said I lite baton with mine and it makes great featherstick's too, for a tactical knife, I use mine in the bush, if you guys are going to use it like I do, make sure you get the nylon sheath with the pouch.
Has a Gerber Gator for a long time. Loved that knife. Was in northern Maine moose hunting, did great dressing out the moose, then l got my buck a couple hours later. Went thru that like no ones business. I do believe it is still laying on the ground right where that deer died. God l miss that thing
Yes, and the same goes for the rigid Kydex version sheath as well, which they've had 2 versions of. No matter which sheath version you get they are ambi/reversible.
***** lol.. Damnit I wish I had a comeback but commiefornia laws just make me look stupid haha. Ive only owned Schrade folders but I hear they are good.
I have owned and edc a schrade schf 15 for about 6 months now(about time for an upgrade going to do a benchmade 375) and i will say it is an awsome knife for the money now i have heard some bad things about the nylon sheath that comes with the schf 9 that is why i went with the schf 15 i comes with a very high quality kydex sheath
It’s a nice knife but not the best for survival or bushcraft , started a “try stick” and the grip is so uncomfortable my hand started to hurt in a minute or two
i was at my local pawn shop looking at used dvd's and this kid came in with a plastic bag with this sealpup in it a really ugly knife one of those decorator knives and a sheath with 2 knives "mossy oak" i knew what that was, a hunting knife with a gut hook and a smaller knife so the pawn shop guy didn't want them i asked if i could look at them the pawnshop guy said as long as its outside so i went and picked the sog out for 10 bucks it was dulled when i took it home and cleaned it but i just hit it with a kitchen steel and straightened out the hone didn't have to put it on the diamond sharpener
I carried one of these on my hip during my second deployment.
Any feedback on how it held up would be much appreciated, that k you from a fellow veteran man!

Big fan of guys like this. Down to earth, smart, kind, we need more men like this to step up fellas!

@@CopperJacketTV I wont support dicks since they don't support my 2nd Amendment rights.
I have the exact same one! I put a couple layers of hockey grip tape on the handle.
Thank you for not passing over the sheath too fast. Good video man
Someone stole this knife out of my tent when camping. I was out on a hike. This happened years ago. Still bums me out.

This is my favorite EDC knife so far. Can't beat the price either. I want to get a Ka-Bar next time when I can afford one. Thanks for this review.

Jesse Myers Sounds cool. I'll go and check them out on ebay.
Jarhead6 Thank you my friend.
Everybody should have one .I keep one handy in my truck :)))

My favorite knife, and I have alot of knives
I have the elite version. Great little knife that lives on my bug out bag. I think it's a good all around, whatever you may need it for, knife.

like the channel, keep up the good work man
Awesome blade bro.
A baby version of my SOG seal? Holy shit that's cool
Very nice knife bro. I might have to check it out. Thanks up bro
The Mosin Nagant Channel Thanks bro
I love the knife but not the sheath. So I put mine in a KA-BAR sheath and my KA-BAR in another nice leather sheath I had laying around. Perfect! 😃
9" overall, same length as my........ my 300 blackout upper, what did you think I was gonna say? :) hahahah I love that man, love fixed blade knives. Great overview man. I dig it.
UrbanArmed lmao... Thanks bro
Yeah nice blade...just ordered one from Amazon they got them for $36!!! Couldn't believe it...seen the same knife for $70 at Gander Mountain
Serrated edge is also good for stripping dry wood into really good fire starter. Would have been a great knife if it was a full tang
That's an awesome knife. I'll have to check them out.
metaltrooper62 Thanks man. Seems like a good blade for the $$$
I was fortunate enough to win won of these knives in a giveaway and it's been a good knife
gunnwild1 Damn dude... You won one of these? Nice win. I had to pay for mine lol
Cool brother
Yes,I'm left handed mine works great
got this knife for about 2years now, and I probably sharpened like twice!! so yes it hold his edge!! :P gud purchase
+Samster Simard exept for the sheet getting rusty, but he see rain a few time!! lol

that might've been when the Kydex sheath came stock. now its 20$ extra which kinda sucks but hey they nylon works just fine for me

Good looking knife!
Great review but Not sure which to buy sog seal strike or the sog seal pup
Nice! Thanks for the look/info
***** Thanks man
Have 2 but both are older models made in Seki Japan.... awesome
The original winchester bowie!
as soon as my shop is finished i will send you one of my knives. and no favors asked honest review is what i would be after
Jason Glover Honest reviews are the best. When someone truely likes something its easy to talk highly of it. Thanks Jason
This is a great knife for me because it is legal for me to carry it.
Is this for self defense
I really like that knife. I got a outdoor edge with aus 8 steel thst I use for deer hunting and the 5 deer I skinned with it this year u could still shave hair in your arm. We just did a quick run thru on a hand sharpener to keep the edge.nice video
N wat I let off is that aus 8 steel is pretty dang good and gets super sharp. I need one of these sogs on my edc bag
muzzleblast1911 I like the AUS 8 for my folders but the only thick fixed blades I have are all 1095 or 440 so its good to hear this steel holds up under hard use. Thanks for the heads up

paulie 4x That's good to know it's worth the extra money. I'm happy with this one s far but thats not to say I wouldn't want the elite too lol
Looks good man. I'm also a fan of the partially serrated blade if it's an option.
***** I like to own them but hate to sharpen them lol. I suck at it
Just got one for Xmas !
***** Nice! Santa loves gear lol
Is that sheath for left hand to
I love how people have been shitting on gerbers usa knives and yet the steel quality in theirs is better

There’s are nice knives
Just took mine out of the box, I shouldn't like knives this much right?
Does the knife go in left or right hand carry ? I am left handed?
Yes, and the same goes for the rigid Kydex version sheath as well, which they've had 2 versions of. No matter which sheath version you get they are ambi/reversible.
good review!
StlTony Thanks Tony
I'm just mad that there isn't a straight edged option. And that they just released a newer version, the SEAL Strike...
There isn't. The Seal Pup Elite has that option but the regular Seal Pup doesn't.
should have some pins through the handle and the blade should be 1mm thinner.
Nice! glad the have one without seretions, for nylon sheath didn't look too bad
is SOG's aus 8a or Gerber's 420hc better?
can it be a EDC in CA
Ramon Munoz California state law says yes but I know sometimes different counties have restrictions. I'm in LA county and were good here
thank you
Nice knife and vid...
Scott F. Thanks Scott
Good for close quarters I’ll bet
I like mine
nice knife
Taiwan?
I got my seal pup on sale for 36.88
Nice knife!!! Is it legal in commiefornia??? J/k I wonder if its a better pick up then schrade schf9 or schf10..looks really nice!!! Nice review!!
***** lol.. Damnit I wish I had a comeback but commiefornia laws just make me look stupid haha. Ive only owned Schrade folders but I hear they are good.

You are making my wallet go on a diet:(
Two minutes talking about the sheath? Four minutes rolling it in your hand? How about some actual use.
But why is it made in China
If u cutt the front pocket out it fits nice in your pocket qith out a bulge
It’s a nice knife but not the best for survival or bushcraft , started a “try stick” and the grip is so uncomfortable my hand started to hurt in a minute or two
wait untill thing drops down to about $19 is complete crap
It is not full tang, it is a rat tail.
wallabing
I wondered that with the price
It's a full stick tang.
