Those were originally made in Seki Japan with the Seki Seal Pups based on requested specs at the time. They’re idea was not having to remove the knife from sheath when cutting cord or rope. They have the drainage whole.I carry a fixed blade at work and it does not have the cutting slot but it gets awful dirty during the day.I hose it down and oil it up.Thank you for your input.Much appreciated 😊🔪👍
Hi again Sir ! I forget to ask you something some days ago. I ‘m looking for the Kydex sheath to my SOG Seal Pup Elite ( Tiger stripe , old model ) as the one You show in the video, the first one ..I have searched on line but I can’t see any original original Kydex SOG available … Do You maybe have any suggestion ? Thanks Best Regards Sandro
SOG Sculptura. It was around 2003.They pop up on EBay once in a while and that’s where I got this one a coupon years ago.Onlysog.com might have one.Hope it helps 😊🔪👍
@@TheSogGrunt Well ,Thanks but I can’t google it neither can’t open the search spot on the Onlysog website. It might be like the Ka-bar web site, not available outside the States. ( I live in Sweden )
@@sandrosantagata3562 I’m so sorry!!Its the Seal Ops.The Seal Ops M40K to be exact. It was introduced in April 2011.It’s discontinued.I also see it very seldom on EBay.Again check out Onlysog.com as he has the largest inventory of hard to find SOG knives. His list is getting smaller as he’s selling out pretty fast.Sorry about the misunderstanding on my part.🔪👍
Guess they're made in different batches & years...i sure miss SOG SEAL knives... before these 'pup series' appeared nevertheless much more convenient for the shorter blades....
I love the look of these but unless they upgrade the steel, I refuse to buy one. Even back when aus8 was considered a good steel I didn’t have much time for it. A simple carbon steel probably holds a better edge.
It’s all preference I guess. This is a great knife. My very first SOG folder was the Trident Elite AUS 8 and I used it at work for over 2 years cutting everything imaginable (I’m in maintenance) and exposed to harsh conditions here off the beach.Salt water sand etc.I’ve used AUS 8 in my fixed blade rotation along with some 1095 HC steel.Had to really keep those oiled daily as rust kicks in quickly.I own quite a few TOPS and ESEE 1095 Knives and rust gets to the ESEE fast. The traction coating helps alittle.I think it all depends on the user’s tasks at hand. For instance here at work I have to have partial serrated blades because of what I have to cut. I use the serrations like a saw saving the straight edge part for other tasks.Less sharpening on the straight edge.I appreciate your input my friend. It’s much appreciated 😊🔪👍
Yes the original version was made in Seki and since then in Taiwan. It is still one of the most popular tactical knives SOG has made and a favorite EDC for military law enforcement and citizens😉🔪👍

Nice group of knives. Each one better than the last!
Do you notice any differences in quality between the Taiwan and Seki Japan?
Yes.The Seki seems more solid hard if you know what I mean 😉🔪👍
