Thanks for sharing. It is fun to try something new and catch a different kind of fish. I usually look for a different fish, and it is sometimes difficult to catch a fish that isn't a pike in southern alberta, but it is very rewarding to complete that goal. There are lots of whitefish, perch, and even burbot in that lake and mcgregor lake that I wish to catch.
@AnglingSpiders keep trying, and you could be successful. I never really caught one, but they like both aquatic and non aquatic insects, and also small, erratic, slow-moving, eye-catching lures in the winter. Whitefish are really good to eat. They are sweet and oily.
I have used bottom bouncers and a worm harness in front of one of the dams on the St Lawrence River, problem was the water was over 60 feet deep and every walleye would blow their swim bladder when bringing them up. If you don’t know how to purge them ( degassing the bladder ) you would kill them and not all of them would meet the18” minimum size limit. It was a great way to get fish off the bottom. Good stuff Sean !
It's a very good technique that I haven't used in over 10 years myself! I would put a 18 inch fluorocarbon line with a Thin Fin back in the day. We would troll and catch some nice pike and walleye in about 20 to 30 feet of water. Great review Sean. Excellent technique in this hot water and to find the fish that are hiding deeper down. Man, what a magnificent Walleye!! I felt your emotions when you finally got a hold of it! Very nice video!!
Interesting rig. 2nd one definitely bigger….as it’s moving your kayak 😂 wow….what an absolutely beautiful walleye💪🏻 30” 😮 Nice Pike too. Great underwater release! 8 hrs of paddling…bet you slept like a baby 😉 Great stuff Sean!! Nice bonus fish 👍
I use those newer TPE plastic worms on my bottom bouncers. They’re practically indestructible one worm lasts me at least 30 fish. Congrats on the dirty thirty Sean.
this is one of those rigs i would like to try in europe.. but they dont sell the right stuff over here.. Im mostly casting to fish on the livescope.. so ''blind'' fishing on the bottom gets done less by me then i did before..If ur upgrading ur fishfinder atleast get a 9'' screen.. and a mapping function.. its so mucht easier to follow bottom depth on a map. But sometimes u just get lucky and fish a spot u wouldnve otherwize if u dont have things like mapping.. But also catch a lot more fish then u could without it (esp with live).
Sean, we haven't done much bottom bouncing this year, but it can definitely work, especially in warmer temps. Man, that 30-inch walleye was awesome, buddy! Nice work with plastic worms also. Any reason for using those versus real Night Crawlers? 8 houra of paddling... you must have been zonked!
@@AnglingSpiders good idea there. We deal with consistent mushy freeze/that cycle minnows and mushy nightcrawlers. I find that the plastic ones are less likely to get sucked off the hooks too.
Are you trolling those bottom bouncers. I fish these all the time from my kayak at Travers, but with a longer leader on my worm harness (and often with a minnow). I never even considered casting a bottom bouncer

Yes, I have seen a lot of whitefish, but I have never had success with them

Thank you, yes they are really effective in deeper water. Thankfully the max depth of this lake is 30 feet.

Thanks Chris, definitely had a good sleep
Nice work Sean! Glad you had some good success trolling! 25 degree water temps is ridiculous!
Agreed, nice to see it cooling down this week. You still up for the Red Deer sometime soon?
@@AnglingSpiders We 100% are up for it. I’ll send you a message on Instagram!
That is is a Walleye Wars Winning Walleye , you should enter this year! Nice Catch
Thanks, I need to try this technique a few more times there. If I can consistently find the big ones, I will for sure
Cool and different technique, haven't seen this before, but it worked well. Some good catches, especially that nice Walleye. Great job Sean!
Thank you so much. Bottom bouncers are really good in areas with a relatively clear bottom.
What a Tank! Wholly smokes Awesome!!
Thanks, so much fun!
Nice walleye! Learned something new. Great video
Thanks, really appreciate the comment
great looking fish
Thanks
Interesting, I have always put a 3 to 7 foot leader on a bottom bouncer. Your short one seems to work. Nice walleye!!
I used to use about a 3 foot leader as well, but wanted to see if it was needed. Seems to have worked ok
Beautiful walleye… and a very interesting technique to catch him!
Thanks
Awesome video Sean!! What an interesting technique. Very nice walleye!!
Thank you so much
Beautiful Walleye! Nicely done!
Thanks 👍
That is a technique that I have not seen before, but Man, it sure works, and that Walleye was massive!
Thanks, works really great in summer
bonus fish are the best,
another enjoyable video
Thank you

Thanks, that one worm ended up lasting me until the end of the day - so not bad considering the pike were biting steady
Congrats amigo. Amazing catch and good on you for trying something new. I have a few of those bottom bouncers and have never used them.
Thanks, they are really good in 20 to 40 feet of water
I have seen bottom bouncing set ups for trolling for eyes here in Pa

Beauty walleye! 🤙😎
Thank you!
Super sick walleye man!😮
Thank you so much

Thanks for the comment. You could likely order them online via Amazon, not sure what shipping would be.
Wow, that was a nice walleye sean! I tried last weekend s bottom bouncer with 2 hits and 1 lost. I should try more
They work great in deeper water where the bottom is clear of weeds
@AnglingSpiders I tried a couple of weekends ago and tied for a bit, a few nibbles, but I should try more.
Nice walleye man.
Thanks!
Beautiful walleye. Congratulations 👍
Thank you!
Great job buddy! That was a beautiful walley!! Thank you for sharing my friend!
Thanks Mark, really appreciate it
good night

Thanks Dan, I used the plastics simply because they last longer

Yes trolling, I just cast them to get going.
Such a beautiful walleye and great fight! Is that GX2 UL? same rod you use for trout?
I have four different sizes of the US GX2. This is the medium. I also have two ultra-lights and a light.
