For those of you who are learning this piece through synthesia, there are two small errors that I found in this video. At 1:32, the C natural being played should actually be a C#. And at 3:35, the last triplet played on the right hand should be E natural, not D natural.
Garrett Harmon Hahaha I actually found a couple more now that I'm watching this video again. At 0:45 and 2:37 the left hand part should be one octave lower. I wish the best for you learning this piece.
Thanks! I always thought this composition was special for being modern. Just so many interesting chord progressions and awesome development sections. Although I usually prefer performing classical music, Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts works are just as rewarding when one masters them. So, best of luck to you to master this intriguing masterpiece!
Garrett Harmon I totally agree with you! I like classical music as well but some of the piano collections act as if they were in the baroque period. Thank you so much. I have already learned this piece but still need to clean up in some areas. It is very challenging, that's all I can say. Jenova is harder. I will eventually learn that piece.
No problem man. I totally agree with you how some of these pieces sound similar to classical compositions. That's awesome you learned this piece! I know how difficult this composition is to master so bravo! I remember how I wanted to learn Those Who Fight back three years ago thinking it was impossible lol... But thanks to practicing tough classical pieces over a long period of time, I was able to learn it and One Winged Angel comfortably. Also, I DEFINITELY agree that Jenova is much harder xD... but possible :) I hope you achieve your musical goals!
This has got to be one of the most incredible pieces of music I've ever heard. The level of skill here is unbelievable and I tip my hat to any of you guys commenting here who can play what that computer just did. XD And play it well!
WoW seing this put it into perspection just HOW hard it REALLY is to play these songs, eveyone who ever even attempts to learn this song has my respect!
I learnt this. Oh well... I learned it for the most important part. Alright only the right hand... Ugh sure... course it's a slower version... And not played perfectly still...
I love the song despite I don't own a piano to play this but I'm more tuned to tuba but that doesn't stop me from taking my part as tuba player and transfering all the musical notes onto a piano
Squaresound (use google) has midi for all of the piano collections except final fantasy 7. So I made Jenova and Cosmo canyon myself, and I found those who fight somewhere on the internet as a finale notepad file.
I used a VST, not only does it sound better, but it reduces the latency as well (if you use ASIO). It was Pianoteq 2 I used. There are many VST for piano check out Truepianos as well. I use LoopBe1 midi driver and ASIO4ALL (search with google). In synthesia you choose "LoopBe Internal Midi" as output and in Truepianos you choose "LoopBe Internal Midi" as input. Start truepianos first and then synthesia. If it doesn't work, close everything (media players and browsers mainly) and try again.
One of the things professionals will tell you is that the way you practice is slow. You don't learn these songs fast, as a music major playing piano in college, trust me. One of my professors made me play songs like this and harder so slow that I almost was falling asleep while playing. But having me focus on how the notes were timed exactly right even at 5-10% the speed of the original song eventually made me blaze right through the faster speeds, because I had the timing down. Don't give up
Very true! Im practising this song now. And what has made me progress more now than when I first gave it a shot, is the patience i now have to carefully calibrate my finger muscle memory in order to play it essentially subconsciously.
@noxiousism Like 1:02? Well after that you play those 3 blue notes you press the pedal and remove the left hand. That way the blue notes are sustained, and you can press those key again.
Oh yeah, it's great! While it's going to take a long, long time before I'll be able to play this, I'm having a lot of fun just making my own little progressions and stuff.
@MrJptrman If you read the description, you can read that this music is featured in the film "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children", and it can also be found in the official Piano Collections album for Final Fantasy VII.
I can play till 0:05!! I'm more used to themes like To Zanarkand, nice and slow. Though this will take a while... I'll probably never finish it lmao! Thanks for posting it up!
This piece has been in my todo list for a while now. I just didn't have time to look at it, or maybe I was afraid to look at it. :D I'm gonna try it out soon. ;)
Awesome song. If you're having trouble playing this, practice at a speed you can get 100% correct and you will eventually be able to play even faster than the original.
@Willgtl No, not more than what I had in high school. You're right presto means very quick, in daily speak: fast. It does not have a precise bppm value as 184, nor does it have a precise bpm interval as 168-208 bpm, a quick google search shows several definition, such as 100-152, 160, 116, 180, 168-200... If the composer wanted to be more precise, he could have indicated a bpm value, as 184. He didn't. Besides, I didn't transcribe it, someone else did, and chose that tempo. I didn't change it.
@Willgtl The sheets says presto and prestissimo, I don't know where you got 184 bpm from, but presto just means fast and doesn't have a precise bpm value.
@kadadj its hard to say but a usually experienced players would take about 3-4 weeks to at least get all the notes down and then maybe a couple of days/weeks to get the appropriate speed. I myself would probably take a couple months but I'm only playing every now and then, I don't take lessons. Having a teacher should speed it up a considerable amount of time.
You have to use a small amount of sustain pedaling (the right most pedal) in order to make the notes stay connected if your fingers cannot reach notes that are spread too far apart and the left hand cannot get to those notes either. I wish Synthesia would show a pedal screen too.
oh i see. been at it for bout 2 weeks now, and im only at 00:30 practicing maybe an hour a day. thats one page of the sheet music outta 6 so who knows how long thisll take. GL.
The rapidshare link works fine for me. the ffmusic link is for some reason marked as a Reported Attack Site. Well, I have not had any problems with the site. If you get the warning just hit ignore and scroll all the way down to piano collections, it is nr. 05 and its called fighting as described in the description. Sounds strange that you have problems with both links...
Excelente de tu parte al colocar esta increible ayuda :) Excellent of your part, for show this incredible help :) Many thanks of Venezuela Merci, Danke, Obrigado, Thanks, Arigato, Sulpa, Molto Gracie, Gracias n.n
I could probably learn and memorize this song in about... two years by watching the slow one. I won't get it down perfect, but I'd probably have it memorized xD That is IF I watch it for two years straight. Unfortunately, it's humanly impossible to stay awake and watch something on the computer for 2 straight years. :'(
The Finale Notepad file? Find it on Squaresound under fan arrangement archive for Advent children. The midi file and sheets can be found in the description of this video.
I'm very grateful for this video but I thought it right to note that there are strange hidden notes that can be heard but not seen. Hasn't come up in any other synthesia video I've seen
Thank you for the reccomendation! I found something different with a similar. There were so many variations on the title you mentioned. I've seen results for FFX-2 excerpts and something called Eternity of Lightwaves. I'll send you the video I think I'll try to learn, though if you could send me the excerpt you were talking about that'd be great!
What is the problem? Download the midi file. Open synthesia and choose to open the midi file. Or just drag the midi file to the synthesia icon, and it will open automatically.
They are both the same .-. They used the Piano Collections one in Advent Children. Along with Tifa's Theme and Aerith's Theme, also from the Piano Collections.
@MisterMoes I don't understand why the issue on tempo is even mentioned. If one's really interested in the original piece's tempo, emulate it accordingly. But different players have different styles and interpretation. Some prefer to follow the recording. I would prefer to follow the game itself. I personally follow the game's tempo. I don't bother whether if its 184 or something. The piece will just lead me accordingly.
PianoHeroIII: Legends of Final Fantasy? LOL this is the first time I'm seeing this, I want one! lol..what program is that called? can u send it to me? and I want to learn this song but slower..like easy ,really easy slow? THANKS, i'm subscribing as well...i better learn from this.
For those of you who are learning this piece through synthesia, there are two small errors that I found in this video. At 1:32, the C natural being played should actually be a C#. And at 3:35, the last triplet played on the right hand should be E natural, not D natural.
Wow! brilliant observation! I have the sheet music for this epic song and you are absolutely right.
Garrett Harmon Hahaha I actually found a couple more now that I'm watching this video again. At 0:45 and 2:37 the left hand part should be one octave lower. I wish the best for you learning this piece.

ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED
WoW seing this put it into perspection just HOW hard it REALLY is to play these songs, eveyone who ever even attempts to learn this song has my respect!
If you learn this song, nothing will be impossible
:] One of the best pieces of music in FFVII Thanks for uploading :]
I learnt this.
Oh well... I learned it for the most important part.
Alright only the right hand...
Ugh sure... course it's a slower version...
And not played perfectly still...
Yeah, I even have slight problems with a song where the left hand part consists of 5 keys.
thanks! this actually helped me learn the piece on the piano. great job!
This gives me chills. I want to play it and give others chills. *wonders about unburying keyboard*.
I applaud anyone who can play this ...
I love the song despite I don't own a piano to play this but I'm more tuned to tuba but that doesn't stop me from taking my part as tuba player and transfering all the musical notes onto a piano

My favourite of the Piano Collections, and the hardest.... It took me just over a month to learn this.... Good luck to anyone who is though!
Me too! I started learning to play because of this
i love this game and this song
Una verdadara obra sublime del maestro Uematsu, me fascina la fuerza de esta composición realmente un tema de batalla como debe ser.
lol thanks. I haven't been practicing this song as much do to my wrist problems but, I will learn it in full someday.
i am going to die of the intensiveness, seriously.
I learned the first half about 20 yrs ago. This has inspired me to finish it out since I can't read music 😂. Thanks!
1:50 is my favorite part its just such a big change in the song
seeing the tag for a slower version made my day..
I used a VST, not only does it sound better, but it reduces the latency as well (if you use ASIO). It was Pianoteq 2 I used. There are many VST for piano check out Truepianos as well. so cool to watch. its just beautiful!
i LOOOVE how it suddenly becomes all calm and cool. this song's pro n fun :P
If i get a chance to use this, this would hone my skills to the MAX
Oh yeah, it's great! While it's going to take a long, long time before I'll be able to play this, I'm having a lot of fun just making my own little progressions and stuff.
i love this song!!!!! is amazing and awesome!!!
this song took me a good 2 months and i still haven't even gotten close to perfecting this 3 years later :P
@MrJptrman If you read the description, you can read that this music is featured in the film "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children", and it can also be found in the official Piano Collections album for Final Fantasy VII.
Thanks my piano teacher and I worked it out. At 2:26 I was just playing the trill down instead of up
Man, I am still practicing it and it does a number on your hands.
thanks for this though. This is in my music sheets. ^^
That was so awesome!!
I can play till 0:05!! I'm more used to themes like To Zanarkand, nice and slow. Though this will take a while... I'll probably never finish it lmao! Thanks for posting it up!
I finally did this!
With my right hand...
On the right side...
Erm....
Whoever can play this on piano, I WORSHIP YOU O LORD!!!
Well it's wise to never rush learning it. The best players are those who take their time to enjoy it regardless of how inexperienced they are.
This piece has been in my todo list for a while now. I just didn't have time to look at it, or maybe I was afraid to look at it. :D I'm gonna try it out soon. ;)
Thanks for posting the links

MIDI link updated.
Need to learn how to read piano sheet music so i can practice this!! GAWD!!
oh i see. been at it for bout 2 weeks now, and im only at 00:30 practicing maybe an hour a day. thats one page of the sheet music outta 6 so who knows how long thisll take. GL.

They featured the piano cover of this in the Grand Tourismo game.
@MrJptrman It does sound similar when you break down the originals battle theme, just has some variations...
This video messes with my eyes! Still, id watch it a thousand times if it would teach me to be able to play that
Thats so fun to watch....
great il get to work on playing this!
ITS OVER 9000
3:36 makes me cry......tears. Of BLOOD.

From 1:50 to 2:07 it sounds so epic *-*
F***ING AWESOME PIECE!!!!!

My best piano pieces are this and ONE WINGED ANGEL!!!!!
yeah, Gl to you too. you may though want to consider learning it from the slow version of this tutorial cuz it seems faster in my opinion.
I could probably learn and memorize this song in about... two years by watching the slow one. I won't get it down perfect, but I'd probably have it memorized xD

It applies to almost any rhythm related thing in music :)
I'm very grateful for this video but I thought it right to note that there are strange hidden notes that can be heard but not seen. Hasn't come up in any other synthesia video I've seen
I play it at school, and now I get recognized as the "Piano Man". lol yeah it's worth it.
@Cat6768 its easily the hardest ff piano collections song alongside eternal harvest.
so happy i can do it now :D
It's all in the description.
Hmm, I am highly considering playing this for my HSC music piece.
@MrJptrman you might be talking about Those who fight further
@OdinCarrillo No problem :-)
As you requested I have uploaded a new video, which is slowed down. It is played at about 40% of the original speed. Look in my account.
is there a sheet OMG i could learn it and show it off it would be kool i like this composition its so smooth
i'm quite busy with studying at the moment, but yes, I will make it when I get the time. However at the moment I don't have time.
What is the problem?
Download the midi file. Open synthesia and choose to open the midi file. Or just drag the midi file to the synthesia icon, and it will open automatically.
i will not stop till i can play this!
i think i dont need my bed anymore x.x
They are both the same .-. They used the Piano Collections one in Advent Children. Along with Tifa's Theme and Aerith's Theme, also from the Piano Collections.
Insane
i loooove this!! but its like, beyond grade 8. i'll get there eventually :P
And what difference is there between the advent children version and the piano collections version?
this piece is a dream for me :(
