Well done for carrying on. You should be very proud of yourself. Know exactly how you felt with the "thank f*ck for that!" at the end as I had an issue at Brighton Marathon last year. Both quads locked up and could barely run but ran/walked the second half and finished. Didn't care about the time, just really proud for battling on.
It's tough when it goes wrong isnt it, i think it shows grit when we battle on and get over the line. Its the determination we need and that will benefit us when things are going well. Thanks for the comment :)
Well done on getting it done. Races dont always go as planned and trained for. Crossing the finish line with all the pain is strong determination of a runner. You earned your medal👏🏻👏🏻. I had my own share of muscle cramps at Manchester Marathon luckily they were not very bad. I managed to reduce the pace and push through.
Completely agree, getting it donew when not 100% benefits us when things are going well. Ive definately got unfinished business with the marathon, one i hope to put right in December. Glad you anaged to battle through your own issues and got the job done too!
From a guy like me who's just started training for my first half marathon (and the Potters "Hilly" half ha ha) very inspiring to see you grit on and finish that despite that hamstring. It's a late comment but well done!!!
Much appreciated thank you. It was a hard grind for sure, not sure my body is cut out for marathons lol!! Good luck with your first half, I love the 13.1 distance
Congrats for pushing through, it's a shame that your hamstring went so early on. I can totally understand that you thought about stepping off of the course when you still had so long to go. You really earned that medal!
Thank you, it is a nice medal lol! I feel a bit more comfortable with the race now, I was bitterly disappointed in my myself and the situation on the day. Maybe I could have done more. But today on reflection I did all I could on the day and that’s good enough for me. We move on to the next race and the next block of training (after the legs have recovered lol). Thanks for your comment 😊
Sorry to hear that, but congrats on getting over the finish line. Sounds like you need to give 26.2 another bash sometime soon! Good luck with your training.
Very late to the party here, but despite all of the issues, the fact you got to the end is incredible! Well done for pushing through to the finish!! I can’t wait to see your future races and future goals getting smashed!! 🙌🙌
Thanks Joe. The disappointment has worn off now, it was hard accepting the 16 weeks of work ended up in such a poor run but we have to move on. New challenges lie ahead, another marathon in December to focus on with lots of races in between. Hope your recovery has gone well too 👍🏻
Congrats, well done. I completed my first 10 miler last month and had crazy cramp in both calves, so I can only imagine what you were feeling. You pushed through and finished it, so that’s the main thing.
Thank you. Yeah it’s always tough trying to push through the pain but the thought of telling people I’d not finished was worse than not finishing. We do what we can do, and take the positives. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Get your hamstrings sorted.invest in some On running shoes where your joints dont suffer cos the impact of each strides happens under the shoe.Just buy the right style for your running. I can run With key hole surgery in each knee im lucky to have found these shoes
I run in Hoka, for the same reason. They have done me well. I tried some On running shoes and they didnt suite my form, cracking shoes but i couldnt get on with them. Appreciate the sugestion and glad they are working for you.

I was in wave 7, so 10:30 start. My predicted finish time was 4hrs when I applied, but as I said in the video I got a hamstring injury and ended up walking running the last 14 miles hence my average pace being much slower.

Both my knees went at mile 13 had to get them heavily strapped and had to walk the rest but I finished however a taste of unfinished business

How did you get such an early start running at 6 min/km?
