Makes sense, there’s 6 hours of audio of him recording for Aladdin so there’s definitely material to pull from
I’m assuming the unused dialogue was with the permission of Williams’ daughter Zelda. She was pretty vocal about her father’s voice being used for other projects.
A lot of Disney fans are going to be very happy seeing all your favourite characters from the past 100 years. Can't wait for everyone to see this short.

Eu sou autista e estudante de mestrado em jornalismo na PUCRS, e apesar de eu ter 27 anos, sou fâ nº1 da Disney desde o meu um aninho de vida. Eu conheci a disney pelos programas de TV dos anos 90 como o Disney Cruj e pelos quadrinhos da Disney, pois aprendi a ler gibis tanto pela Disney quanto pela Turma da Mônica. Minha grande referência em quadrinhos Disney é o Banzé, filho da dama e do vagabundo, mas não entendo por que ele não apareceu na foto com a turma da Disney, nem o peninha, nem o urtigão, nem os personagens dos quadrinhos, pois estou achando que a Disney não sabe integrar animação com quadrinhos... De qualquer forma, parabenizo a Disney pelos 100 anos e desde já exijo a integração quadrinhos-animação nos filmes da Disney imediatamente!

Just got back from watching this short. I was nearly at the verge of tears at the end. Just seeing this many characters together in one place, THIS is the Disney I know and love!
Despite its current state, I'll always cherish its many creations Disney gave us. And who knows? Given the tech it displayed here, a House of Mouse revival could come sooner than we think!

I cried at the end of the short. When I went to watch this short, I was sitting the floor like a little kid. I was smiling throughout.
Makes me feel sentimental seeing all of those characters from my childhood. The magic of popping in a Disney VHS/CD will never be replaced.

The elder gentleman at the beginning of the short was Burny Mattinson, the longest serving employee of the Disney company. Passed back in February. His wife made the Pooh bear seen at the beginning of the original Pooh shorts back in the 60s. First worked on Lady And The Tramp. He created Legend the dog for Strange Worlds last year.
Yes yes he was one of the best, it's unfortunate that he did pass Feb 23 this year, but he is forever memorialized in this

I also missed seeing Bolt, Winnie the Pooh, and all the other original characters in this short, including Ariel and Eric!! I really loved watching this short film! One hundred years of amazing storytelling!!

The obvious respect both Mickey and Oswald have for each other (Mickey saying “After you,” Oswald tipping his “hat”) makes me so happy. Plus, not only Mickey acknowledges Oswald is there- several characters watch him walk up and Kuzco even speaks to him.

Not only that, it was Richard Sherman himself (the composer of Feed the Birds from Mary Poppins) well into his 90s playing Walt's favorite song... in his piano kept in the studio!!
This was also the first and only time(so far) that Walt and Mickey have interacted 🥹

Amazing reaction and I also got a chance to watch the short when it premiered on ABC, all I can say seeing all 400-500 of our favorite Disney characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios that we grew up with brought me in tears and we haven’t had a Disney crossover like this since the _Kingdom Hearts_ series and especially _House of Mouse._ Honestly I’m dying to see a _House of Mouse_ reboot series.
Also to answer your questions regarding Robin Williams dialogue of the Genie in the short, no it’s not AI generated Audrey, this was unused audio that Robin recorded and they got consent from Williams family and the Estate to use that audio.
Finally, on the Disney characters you were unable to recognize and aren’t familiar with their names during the short I will tell you:
1. The Dog, Cat and Hamster that were by Minnie at 1:09-1:11 are Bolt, Mittens and Rhino from _Bolt._
2. The boy riding the solar surfboard adjacent to Sisu the Dragon is Jim Hawkins from _Treasure Planet_ which is basically a sci-fi reimagining of Treasure Island.
3. The Dog that was in Vanellope’s Cart at 1:25-1:26 is Dodger from _Oliver & Company._
4. The Elves at 1:31-1:32 that zoomed past Cody and Elliot the Dragon are Wayne and Lanny from _Prep and Landing_ a series of animated TV specials that aired from 2009-2011 during the Christmas season.
5. The woman at the Cafe at 1:39-1:40 in the far right is Lucille Krunklehorn from _Meet the Robinsons_ in fact, you also see Lewis, Wilbur Robinson, Carl the Robot and Bowler Gat Guy as well in the short. Carl the Robot was in the Elevator and Lewis, Wilbur and Bowler Hat Guy were in the group shot at the end while the former were by the Queen of Hearts at 4:49 & 4:51-4:53.
6. The guy from Pinocchio who was arguing with the Vending Machine is Stromboli.
7. The animated lost boy at 2:07-2:08 is an animated Robin Williams from an animated short called _Back to Neverland_ which was an attraction used at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during the late 1980’s.
8. The Large Demon from _Fantasia_ is named Chernabog and he’s from the _Night at Bold Mountain_ segment.
9. The blue creature that was following Ursula at 3:02-3:04 is Splat from Disney’s latest animated feature, _Strange World_ that was released last year.
10. The Lion that was by Wasabi and Wart (Sword in the Stone) at 4:25-4:27 is King Leonidas from _Bedknobs and Broomsticks_ a live-action Disney film from the 1970’s which like _Mary Poppins_ has an animated sequence.

This, my friends is so epic. As a hardcore Disney fan, I was so excited to see this short and definitely excited because it features the crossover of of our beloved Disney characters. It'll be so awesome if they do more crossovers like this. 😊

Absolutely amazing. The ways they blended the hand-drawn and CG animation together with the live action backgrounds looked unbelievable, particularly in that one super long uncut shot.
The fact they brought back pretty much all the voice actors for each of the characters even if it was just like one line each. Not to mention the archive audio for Genie, Peter Pan, Jiminy Cricket, etc.
That moment where Mickey says thank you to the picture of Walt. Which I just got to say was one of the best ways to have integrated him. It would have been so easy to just have Mickey walk past a screen playing an old recording of him or use some other kind of freaky deepfake stuff to have him there in a physical sense, but that would've felt really forced.
And then the end with everyone holding hands and singing When You Wish Upon A Star. All so so good. Happy 100th Anniversary, Disney.

When Walts picture appears we hear his favorite song “feed the birds”. Richard Sherman came to play those notes and that was the last time he performed before passing
God, this short made my day, gave me the giggles, made me shed a tear and really nostalgic. Man, it was so adorable, my heart fluttered, this was my childhood man. And exactly, spot on when you said the magic they gave. Despite of everything, disney, especially disney animation, really means a lot to me 🥹

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this short. Seeing Mickey looking at the Walt Disney photo made me emotional. Even Mickey using the line, “Gotta go, on with the show.” That was the last line Disney got to say for Mickey. He made every child’s childhood magical thought the 100 years.
It was so amazing to see all the characters together both old and new thanks to Walt Disney for bringing the magic I created a whole legacy... My favorite part was when Mikey stopped to look at Walt's photo even with his favorite music playing in the background ..😭 This short was very cute, it would be even better if they had made it into a movie like they did with House of Mouse, but I'm still grateful, happy 100 to Disney, I hope that one day they return to have the Magic that characterized them.😍

2D animation never dies. In fact, it has got more traction than CGI ever did recently. People got so sick of CGI animation that lacked any human artistry for years. They wanted 2D animation to come back into the limelight after years of neglect by Hollywood itself. Animation itself is for everyone, and it's an art medium as a whole. What these suits from Disney, Hollywood, etc don't understand is that Animation is a human art in of itself, not just for kids but by adults, teens and elders can enjoy the art of animation as a whole.

Eric Goldberg announced last year in April that 2D animation is returning.
I like 2d and 3d equally, but yes there is a warmth to 2d that's unique and i wanna see more from western animation. ALSO it's cheaper than 3d, so...
Once Upon a Studio is the perfect nostalgia trip. Disney did good. Disney did very good.
I actually teared up, disney being my escape during my childhood and I've seen almost every disney movies, series, and cartoons. It's just a huge nostalgic feeling as an adult and makes me feel like a kid again 🥹❤️

It’s a heartwarming feeling seeing and hearing Disney heroes and villains we’ve gotten to know over the years putting aside their differences for this 100th anniversary celebration! Walt would’ve loved it! 🥲

Ah, I remember like it was yesterday when I watched Snow White and the Seven Dwarves for the first time. It was my first Disney movie, it gave me the love for all Disney films. Yes, even for their sister studio Pixar. Happy 100th Anniversary, Disney.

It would be very stupid to not include her. Her movie was made to celebrate the 100th aniversary, so it would make no sense that Asha didn't appear on a short also made for the triple digits.
Disney also had to get permission from the owner of Tarzan to use him in the short too. It's still own by the original creator's estate.
What I really loved was also seeing obscure references like Wind of the Willows, Dinosaur, Jonny Appleseed, Oliver and Company, and Jonny Fedora and Alice Bluebonnet.
What a beauty. Many fans and all the characters of his children Disney who created them or Disney will all be very happy to see all your favorite characters from the last 100 years. He is 121 years old, I can’t believe it, but I can’t wait for his songs, everything new is interesting when everyone sees this short film about “Once Upon a Time in the Studio”
This looks so amazing. I think Disney should make a web or TV series called "Night at the Studio" where all the Disney animated characters interact with each other. Girl dogs like Rita and Georgette could flirt with Tod the fox much to Vixey's annoyance, The Disney princesses getting together drinks and playing with animals like Simba and Bambi, Robin Hood getting trouble with Nick and Judy, and so many other things.

Why are there no characters from The Sound of Music and other 20th Century films?
Actually no the voice of Robin William is NOT AI in this short Disney company got special permisson from Williams' estate to use his voice. Other versions of Robin Williams which does use AI voice for him is "Frakenstien" mess according to his Daughter,.. so this circuvent the trope.

What makes this so beautiful is that ALL the Disney characters are there. Not just the popular ones. I have Bolt as a DVD and I cried seeing him with Mittens and Rhino. 😢❤ Disney gave us such beautiful memories thanks to all that worked for Disney and Walt Disney himself

Fun fact they got richard sherman who is now 95, who wrote the song feed the birds (as well as many others for mary poppins and other films with his late brother robert) to come in a play the piano of feed the birds and recorded it to use during the mickey looking at the portrait scene....Walt loved the song so much hed have the brothers play it for him so in a way this is the last time Richard would play feed the birds for Walt.

Not only bringing some voice talent representing there roles or using some the old voices.
But giving some great conversations to some character and bring many forgotten characters back like chicken little, Pete dragon, the character from treasure, kronk, the home on the range,Oliver,Pete dragon and many more.

i dont know if you saw it but just after they say thanks to us, they also say thanks to burnett mattinson, someone who worked as an animator, director, producer and story artist from 1953 till 2023, from what ive read hes the longest serving employee, and hes worked in i think almost all major animations disney made during that time, i really liked that they gave thats as a final send off, i believe hes also the person with the red coat in the beginning

I cried when I saw Oswald at first he’s my Mickey but when I rewatched the beginning and heard Robin Williams voice I started crying again. There’s only one Genie. Omg it brought me happy tears and I can’t wait to go back to Disneyland soon! 💚

That was my entire childhood, teared up again watching it lol ,rescuers, aristocats,all the characters,my mom would read to me, Pete's dragon wow, so many memories in that film ,so good ,there's a Warner Bros like this too ,but all are amazing but this was tears of good times

Disney is a magical being part of my life I watched some Disney movies of ages of my childhood and watching the villains defeated and wish upon a star is my favorite song of my life thanks to Disney for giving us childhood of magic through out the years
When is saw this film…I almost tear up.
And seeing Mickey saying thank you to Walt is like a son saying thank you to his farther.
I love disney movies with all my heart and it pains me that it sometimes feels like they've lost their magic, but seeing stuff like this hits the spot and makes me hope and wish that soon a ceo will come along who truly can bring back the magical name that Disney is meant to be

I absolutely loved this short. It was wonderfully done and I got to see some of my fave underrated characters get put in the spotlight. The Walt part has to be my favorite though :-)

Rapunzel knocking out Kaa with her frying pan (Take that, you hypnotizing reptile!)
Pluto barking at Joanna the monitor lizard (Good boy, Pluto!)
Ralph walking into the plexiglass door (I did that a lot when I was younger, which makes it even more hilarious 🤣)
2:24 Nope, it’s two lines from the many hours of ad libbing Robin Williams did, Disney reached out to his estate and got permission to use the dialogue since they need permission to use anything not from the film per his will.

Absolutely loved this short, though I was a bit disappointed some characters only appeared at the end during the group photo. Other than that, it's so sweet!

As a Disney fan my heart is tearing up this is amazing to have many of my favorite characters crossover happy 100th years Disney
