I cried a lot in this short This was the old Disney Magic we all loved and miss so much and it all came back to us after years Quasimodo is my Disney Hero and he can still sing beautifully The Fox and the Hound is my favorite Disney movie and I'm so happy to see that Tod and Copper are appreciated more That moment between Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse is so touching and emotional It's our first time seeing Mickey finally seeing the picture of his creator, friend and a father And if it weren't for Walt creating Mickey and changing the world forever with his very first full-length animated film "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", we wouldn't live in the World of Disney Magic And when all 543 Disney characters start singing "When You Wish Upon A Star" together as a fitting triumph for 100 years of Disney Magic got me very emotional because that's the moment we've been longing to see happen and it's a huge dream come true for all of us Happy 100th anniversary of the Wonderful World of Disney and may all your wishes come true❤️🥹✨
My mom cried so much when I showed it to her too! She immediately hugged us very tight and told us that she remembers when we watched every single one of these movies ❤ Disney just keeps creating core memories for us
That elder gentleman at the beginning was Burny Mattinson. Longest working employee. Started on Lady and The Tramp and was working up until he passed in February this year. He created Legend the dog in Strange World last yr!
By the way, that old man talking with the intern at the beginning of the short was Burnett "Burny" Mattinson, and he worked at Walt Disney Animation Studios from 1953 until his death earlier this year. He's had the longest tenure of anyone who worked for Disney, so it feels bittersweet to see him here, and to have this short dedicated in his memory.
Oh my God, that was HIM? He was the director of Mickey's Christmas Carol... the only other time I saw him was in a making of feature, he was so much younger! God bless the man, he was every bit deserving of having this animation love letter dedicated in his memory. He did Walt and his legacy proud. 🥹
What's even more special about the scene with Mickey and Walt Disney's portrait isn't just that 'Feed the Birds' was his favourite song, but the rendition heard is actually a new recording. Richard Sherman, who'd regularly perform the song for Walt on Friday afternoons with his brother Robert, played it again on the piano in Walt's office specifically for the short.
Best thing Disney has released in the past 10 years. As a former WDW CM this made me so emotional. Lost it at Feed The Birds... Disney does right when they just go back to basics. More of this, please. Charming and Eric were the funniest. I now suddenly want a Disney Prince series on D+ of the princes hanging out lol....
Coco, Moana, Frozen, Encanto, Element, Zootopia, Big Hero 6, Wreck it Ralph, etc. We can criticise the company but let’s not pretend that they don’t’ make good animation movies anymore. Let’s be real !
The part of Mickey gazing up at Walt's picture alone added five years to my lifespan. Oswald added five more, and my heart was absolutely bursting by the end. Everyone who helped create this remarkable short should be so proud of their work... I know Walt is. 🥹
@@retro6294 Well when Walt made the Alice comedies there is a short call Alice solves a puzzle in which is the debut of Pete who is the antagonist after her puzzle.
Seeing the classic characters together with the modern characters is like seeing your oldest friends catching up with you and meeting your new friends. It’s a long heartfelt reunion. And the moment between Mickey and Walt Disney is even more touching.
Fun ironic fact: the voice actor for Hans from Frozen demanded a higher than possible pay to come back and voice his character. As revenge, they had Elsa freeze his character in the frame.
This short was beautiful. It's so amazing seeing all of these characters together. I also loved the touch of Mickey talking to the picture of Walt with the instrumental of Feed the Birds. The ending with the characters seeing When You Wish Upon a Star just gave me the feels. Happy 100th anniversary to Walt Disney Animation Studios!
@aligracida9367 I get what you're saying but the moment was really for Mickey. Mickey to Walt is Mary Poppins to PL Travers. He tells her as such in Saving Mr. Banks. So the moment really needed to be just the two of them.
This short was everything 🙌 seeing almost every familiar face from my disney vhs childhood like peter pan, Dodger, Thumper, the Chesire Cat, and my recent favs like Ralph, Mirabel, Rapunzel... so wholesome and magical. Best moments for me was Moana helping Flounder, the moment with Walt, Raya saying "coast is clear, Mick", seeing the harp from Fun and Fancy Free (the last time walt voiced mickey) and the characters singing the iconic song with the archived audio of Cliff Edward's Jiminy Cricket Looking forward to seeing it again on the big screen behind WISH
When I saw this, all I can think was 'Nostalgia'. This was a beautiful way to celebrate a 100 years. I particularly liked the bit with Snow White (the OG princess), Mulan (favourite renaissance princess, I think that's why she was picked) and Asha (the new princess and latest Disney addition). I kinda hope they do something like this again in the future, maybe even something similar to the old tv show 'The House of Mouse'.
And yet it wasn't nostalgia that felt...like...it wasn't like "MEMBER THIS?!" it more so felt like "Remember these times? It's okay to go back to them once in a while you know."
The fact they included Dinosaur, Pete's Dragon, Atlantis, Treasure Planet and Home on the Range really means they didn't forget anyone. I honestly thought they would be, seeing as they were all flops at the box office.
I love this short. I got a bit teary at the end when they showed it at Destination D23 a few weeks ago. Here is another fun tidbit. The scene with Mickey and the portrait of Walt is underscored by "Feed the Birds." That is actually a new recording of Sherman (the composer) playing it on the piano in Walt's office.
Just watched this tonight, loved every second! Nearly teared up when Pooh began to sing, big part of my childhood. Thank you Walt, for all the amazing memories, and many more to come. Having the very first Disney princess (Snow White) and the newest/upcoming one (Asha) sing together was a very nice touch!
It’s weird, but in amongst all the incredibly obscure characters who appear here, the biggest pop for me was actually seeing Lanny and Wayne from Prep & Landing. They only ever appeared in televised shorts, but that first one has been one of my favorite things to watch around Christmas time ever since it came out.
I think it is a beautiful tribute. I love that they play feed the birds for walt. If you listen you can hear mickey say "after you" to Oswald. So many characters and easter eggs. It is so well done. Thank you to everyone who worked to bring the magic
RIP Burny Mattinson. Your work from Lady and the Tramp to The Great Mouse Detective to 2011 Winnie the Pooh all the way up to your posthumous work in Wish will be remembered forever and never be forgotten.
It’s a heartwarming feeling seeing and hearing Disney heroes and villains putting aside their differences for this 100th anniversary celebration! Walt would’ve loved it! 🥲
Ahh nostalgia...I Just watched this on Disney+ and this was everything ❤️ I'm totally in love with this short..all the Disney characters reunited all together like a real family is the best thing for a Disnerd ❤️ and the Mickey's part, ahh..my feels!!... My heart is melted 🥲❤️ Disney Forever!! happy 100th anniversary ❤️
Had a split second moment of "Ohhh yeah, that happened 😬" with some stuff, but here the characters feel so far disconnected and more about the hard work, creativity, and nostalgia that its easier for me to get past
@@Knightowl1980 I think I see where the misunderstanding mightve come from, I meant more THE ACTORS went down that kind of route, getting mad at people and "wokeness". I got a moment remembering the irl stuff that went down, but this short felt easier to move past it somehow
When I first watched the short, I nearly cried from the nostalgia at seeing my favorite characters, old and new, and characters that don't often cross my mind. One specific part I love and find so funny is when Max grabs Prince Charming's shoe and Cinderella encourages Max. I find that so funny because it's so... domestic. Also, I kind of hope this kick-starts a reboot of House of Mouse
Incredibly happy to see all my favourite characters traditionally animated again! There’s also just something about all of them getting into the song at the very end, where it crescendos, that gets to me. Kaa especially, the way he was animated was wonderful - how he raises his head while singing the last note and then his *whole body* moves in relaxation as the photo is taken. Just a gorgeous special overall. Walt and the Old Men would be proud. 💖💖💖💖💖
This is possibly the greatest short film I've seen in years. One thing is that I think that the filmmakers overlooked the characters from the "Adventures in Music" cartoons. Of course, I'm talking about Professor Owl, Bertie Birdbrain, and all the bird students that were also featured in Disney's Sing-Along Songs series. To me, that is quite a loss, especially since that video series introduced me to all of the studio's fantastic feature films, shorts, and TV shows, both either well-known or more obscure. Let's not forget the theme parks either, whose soundtracks have always been as infectious as the films themselves. In spite of that, happy 100th anniversary to my favorite company of all time. As a real Disney fan, it has truly molded me to be the person that I am today. May you continue to make dreams come true.
I loved all of the deep cuts as I continously kept replaying those final seconds and thanks to another youtuber learned we not only had ones like King Leonidas from Bedknobs, but the Secretary Bird was there as well. Plus right by the Sword in the Stone group you can see Small One! Freakin Small One they put some Don Bluth in there!!
This just goes to show that despite the terrible remakes, Disney still cares about their original animations. There are those who say they hate what Disney's become, but in the end we all love the magic of Disney
Me too but also because I'm french and some Disney characters were voiced by the same guy in the versions I grew up but he passed away three years ago.

In case you missed it, The song that plays while Mickey is looking at Walt's portrait, is "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins. Feed the Birds was Walt's favorite song. He would have the writers (Richard M. Sherman / Robert B. Sherman) come in on afternoons to play the song for him while he just stared out the window with tears in his eyes. They played it during his funeral and a bird came down to fly over the piano
I love seeing the nods to animators there too. Mary Blair, Floyd Norman (who still advises in the story departments), Ub Iwerks, and the now late Burny Mattinson who acted in it, and said if “these walls could talk”. Also love the deep cut of seeing two Robins in one scene with Back to Neverland short’s Robin passing by prior Robin’s Genie appearance.
This was such a sweet, adorable short... and I love how they actually included them all, not just the successful/most remembered movies: Oliver & Company, Fun & Fancy Free, my beloved The Rescuers... even Dinosaur!!! What a treat... well, happy 100 years of Disney, everyone!!! ❤❤❤
It is impressive how a short film shows us everything from a lucky rabbit and a couple of mice to a girl with a wish, this short is the most beautiful thing that disn brought us.
David here from Sebring Florida and I have been a Disney, Disneyland fan and collector for over fifty years and I think this was one of the best short films that Disney has made! Thanks for your reaction! 😀
See my boy Kaa get up to his antics again made me laugh, even if he had to get smacked with a frying pan 😂 The way he was animated near the end of the photo was beautiful too, seemed like he really got into the song 💖😭 Also saw Sir Hiss in the group at the end as well!
I just finished to watch it before seeing your video. When you got emotionnal during the génie's apparition, I felt the same because in France, where I live, a lot of Disney characters were voiced by the same guy and some of them have lines here. Kisses from France
When we saw the original designer Osamu Tezuka's 'Astro Boy' TV series and a movie, 'Astro Boy' truly seems like and might fit to Walt Disney Animation. So, we hope there will be these new (outer-media) (remake) movies 'Astro Boy / Iron Arm' with sequels by the production of Walt Disney Animation Studio in the future, since the 2030s.
Burny Mattinson’s line “If only these walls could talk.” and Mickey’s moment with Walt Disney’s photo were the cherries on top. R.I.P. Burny (thank you for 70 years of work and dedication) Ursula’s response to the Strange World blob - chef’s kiss P.S. Can we *please* move on from the Hans hate running gag?!
This short was amazing. I loved it. Some characters like Neera, Kron, Vixey, Kovu, Kiara, Vitani, a few others did not show up. Disney should make a web or tv series where all the animated characters are interacting with each other. Sisu could swim with Airle or any other characters who live in water. The villains lead by Scar, Bellweather, Jafar, and Gaston in a villain meeting. Flash the sloth holding others up. Robin Hood and Little John getting in trouble with Nick and Judy. The Disney princesses singing and dancing with other men. All the character watching pop star Gazelle sing and dance. Aladar and Neera meeting with Sisu. And so much more.

And when all 543 Disney characters start singing "When You Wish Upon A Star" together as a fitting triumph for 100 years of Disney Magic got me very emotional because that's the moment we've been longing to see happen and it's a huge dream come true for all of us
I love Once Upon A Studio so much and it deserves awards including an Oscar for Best Animated Short
10/10 stars!
Happy 100th anniversary of the Wonderful World of Disney and may all your wishes come true❤️🥹✨
Waited and watched this with you guys! And now....I want to REWATCH EVERYTHING!!!!
This was beautiful! Love ya did this one:) we loved it on our channel it was so fun :)
In case you missed it,
The song that plays while Mickey is looking at Walt's portrait, is "Feed the Birds" from Mary Poppins.
Also love the deep cut of seeing two Robins in one scene with Back to Neverland short’s Robin passing by prior Robin’s Genie appearance.
that was a very good short, it got me choked up when mickey was standing at the picture of walt
I literally cried. My whole childhood just sitting right there in front of me.
David here from Sebring Florida and I have been a Disney, Disneyland fan and collector for over fifty years and I think this was one of the best short films that Disney has made! Thanks for your reaction! 😀
It still blows my mind that Tom Hulce came back as Quasi to sing a verse to When You Wish Upon A 🌟 😍
I’m a Jungle Book/Robin Hood/Feed the Birds boy so I really felt like I was eating good during this short. I wonder how many felt the same!
See my boy Kaa get up to his antics again made me laugh, even if he had to get smacked with a frying pan 😂 The way he was animated near the end of the photo was beautiful too, seemed like he really got into the song 💖😭 Also saw Sir Hiss in the group at the end as well!
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind is Proud To Disney
I definitely shed a few tears. So nostalgic.. 😢
This is what Disney truly is to the hearts of many, the magic and wonder these characters and the people who help make them brought to us
So amazing to see all the characters from all my favorite Disney movies! 🎥 So cool! And the song: so heartwarming!
As soon as I saw Quasimodo, I was like “Quasimodo!!!” I love Hunchback of Notre Dame!!! I love most of Disney, really!!!
The fact they played Walt’s fav song feed the birds was really special 😢
Eeyore had the best line in this.
I can never stop watching this. It deserves to be on a Blu-ray alone. Along with other old Disney classic shorts.
I want a print of that photo at the end
I teared up with this one. ❤
Burny Mattinson’s line “If only these walls could talk.” and Mickey’s moment with Walt Disney’s photo were the cherries on top. R.I.P. Burny (thank you for 70 years of work and dedication)
Ursula’s response to the Strange World blob - chef’s kiss
P.S. Can we *please* move on from the Hans hate running gag?!
I think that was Splat you're talking about
@@olgagachaphoenix9130 I never saw Strange World (no surprise because Disney decided not to heavily advertise it)
This is the Disney we all love.
I cried like a baby watching this 🥲
Been waiting for this!!!
This is the best way to get the Old Disney Magic back to life!
Many thanks to Vanessa & Robert! 🧚♀ #LateToTheParty #Disney #100YearAnniversary #OnceUponAStudio
did you know that the older man in the beginning was a legendary Disney animator
I Never Seen Mickey directly speak to walt
I thought his painting will be alive too
I love this scene at 5:52 Three generations and time periods of princess holding hands and singing. Disney you did not have to go this hard 😭
I haven’t seen a huge cast like this since both Avengers Endgame and Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Looking good guys! glad to see it!
I loved it when Mickey looked at the picture of Walt Disney. THAT part got me emotional. This was the BEST short that Disney has EVER done!
Fun fact: Mickey Mouse was voiced by Walt Disney himself 😊
Funnily enough even though Mickey is the most recognizable of Walts characters his is NOT the first, the first is actually Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
These people were credited- but none of them returned for this short. All of these voices were used from stored recordings, SAG-AFTRA is still on strike, and that includes all recording. Most of the voice actors are actually upset that their voices were used, but the company owns what the company owns.
5:00 I was kind of expecting Iago to say "I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, I JUST DON'T BELIEVE IT, WE'RE NEVER GONNA GET THAT STUPID PICTURE, JUST FORGET IT"
“It’s all in the wrist”
😂 Olaf just quoted a line from my personal favorite Disney movie and it is not even an animated film
I cried!! 😭 Makes me wanna watch all of the classics.
This took me away from the current day spiel and turbulence of the studio for a moment, and reminded me of how I prefer to remember Walt's legacy.
I actually did enjoy this one since it did seems like they actually gave a care to some of their better underrated films
Got a little oniony with the Walt portrait ... If MM said, 'Hi papa', I would have had to stop there ...❤❤❤
Mickey looking up to the picture of his creator and original voice actor Walt Disney is one of the most emotional few seconds in the video
Omg my childhood 🥹🥹
This is the Disney I want back 🥲
Me too
I missed the old Disney Magic so much and it's such a beautiful 100th anniversary from the creators to us who grew up with Disney🥹❤️
