    So….I bent the wire and used binder clips to fix it to a cardboard box. It left me a perfect little spot to keep my glue. My 2 and 3 year old grandchildren took turns cranking and we made about a hundred beads after dinner last night. Wow!

    Wow! This is very cool. I just ordered a hand beading tool, but I will definitely be making this as I was thinking about buying the plastic 4M paper beading tool kit for my granddaughter. This is so much better! I can see using different gage wire for different size beads etc. And maybe more holes to hold beads while they dry. I may use a large metal coffee can instead... But you've definitely gotten my gears turning!
    I also want to say that you did a stand out job explaining & showing everything. Simple and detailed. Thank you so much for your idea!

    Thank you so much for the video!!! I was a click away from ordering a bead machine on Amazon when I thought I'd see if there were instructions on UA-cam. The crank instructions were fantastic! I modified your design a bit and used a vegetable can with added weights in the bottom so it stands still while I crank. I used my Crop-A-Dile to make the holes for the crank. It has enough room to put my inverted glue bottle inside. I'm literally making beads 5 times faster!!! Thanks again, you are a craft diva!

    I love your ingenuity. We are a lot alike, if you need a machine, just make it out of what you have in the house. I make my own fabric rolls to make crocheting and weaving go very smoothly. I used a cardboard box and a few pieces of PVC to make my rolling machine. I get perfect fabric rolls quickly and easily.

    Wow thanks this great idea, Well i'm going to give this inventive contraption a try, i do hope that it'll work, i've been wanting to be able to make wider beads than what i can make with my small bead winding tools also hopefully this will speed up my bead making & be less wrist turning. OK, i filled the plastic container with soil & 2 heavy rocks, i must say that this does work quite well, although it does move a bit, but i'm still able to make tons of beads & it surely beats having to shell out $26.00 & $6.25 for S&H & tax, so i'm happy thanks a bunch.

    • @HeatherBoydWire
      @HeatherBoydWire  3 роки тому

      Great idea for the pins. I looked them up on Google and they showed me "cotter pins". Thanks for the fantastic suggestion. Heather

    Very clever! Creative use of household things! I would turn the tray over and cut on the backside. That way you won't bend that beautiful metal ruler. I've seen rulers that were "swaybacked" from bending them. Wouldn't want that to happen to yours.

    thank you , a very good idea! Now you have to teach us how to build a machine that makes many beads at the same time LOL
    And you gave me an idea to do my quilling with this wire you folded in two.... kisses!

    If you want to sell them I think you can't use any kind of varnish. It needs to be skin friendly and not react with sweat, body lotions, make- up etc. I am still,looking for a varnish over here in Germany that is skin friendly and can't cause allergies.

      What I've found so far, I know this was a year ago, was I use something called Triple Thick first. I'm not sure if you have that there. Then I go online to Etsy and buy Vibrance paper bead varnish. I have very sensitive skin and I can wear my beads all I want. I let all beads set aside for a couple of weeks at the least before use in a project.

      We just got rid of ours and did a DIY update of our kitchen during isolation. Used 12x12 adhesive tiles...worked like a charm!

    Excellent winder design. The best things are the ones that don't cost a dime. Do the beads hold their shape well and not get worn at the edges? Thank you.

      Thanks so much Diane. You can put a thicker lacquer on the beads so they are more stable.for necklaces. For earrings they probably are fine with regular varnish. Let me know if you make some!

      @@HeatherBoydWire T y. Can I use an additional coat of the original lacquer? If not what do you recommend? Thank you for your help.

      I use this one:: amzn.to/2HRjnsM You can get resin that you mix like epoxy which is very strong and would be more water resistant. For ordinary wear I think the one I use is fine!
