A news story looking at what living conditions are like at Camp Anaconda, one of the largest bases in Iraq. This features soldiers of the 81st Brigade from Washington state
Yea a pool that only the Fob-Its got a chance to use. And the Movie Theater. On yea espically the Fob-Its that would ransack the px so us outside the wire werent able to get anything that we needed. And the Army Soldiers were not allowed to go to the Air Force px......
I spent a year on Anaconda. Depending on your job you can do a lot of stuff that helps the time pass...if you're too busy to do the fun stuff, time is gonna go fast either way. Families back home...stay strong. It's a fairly safe area, which is rare in Iraq. They'll be home before you know it!
crystal crawford so true. I was working as interpreter in War Horse Base in 2008 but every 2 weeks had 1 chance of calling my family. Omg I really missing these days.
This was my room in Iraq and these were the people in my platoon. I bet you guys dint know that 5 of the 12 people in that room have since committed suicide. Rick Roush, 81st MP PLT
I had the chance back in '04 to cut people out of equipment that you can in that graveyard. I've seen IED's almost blow trucks in 1/2, well the aftermath. I have done and seen things at Balad that I still relive every night. I never saw any equipment not handled well, hell it was hard enough to get anything there in the first place. As an Air Force firefighter @ Balad in 2004, I question your idea that equipment was misused, or broken through abuse.
Oh fuck the bat cave...and all my fucking claims still get denied... I fucking know those people on the 1911 Humvee's with the airborne wings....that's my fucking unit
@marcusos1111 yes, everyone that lives there calls it Mortarville. It usually gets some sort of mortar attacked at least once a day. I lived there for a year.
omfg! that isnt iraq! thats a fucking vacation compared to paliwoda. they didnt mention the pool. the fact that that place is so big that we used to watch the morters fall from the other side of it and not be in any danger.
i was stationed in LSA ANACONDA back in 2004-2005. 961st Quartermasters...TOUGH OMBRES!!! My gun trk was hit by a VBIED while going through the Balad Market. We made it through.
It was very sad to see US troops leaving Iraq. After that have left the security situation became the worst ever. I was working there as an interpreter ❤
i was there and lived in one of those trailers..haha.memories. OIF III 3/05-3/06
