Best roguelike ever. I've been playing it since 1998, and won maybe a dozen times. Took about 15 years to get my first win, and of course I play 1.20 in a 80x25 terminal window as roguelikes are meant to be played!
My favorite death in this game was when I played a Troll Wizard... his best spell was "Lead-filled mace". I opened a door and was presented with a room filled with ghosts. I had been demolishing everything for a while and wasn't being cautious. I decided to fight them. The first one hit me and I saw that it didn't do damage... it aged me. As they could go though walls, they had already surrounded me. Since a troll has a life-span about 40 odd years, they aged me to death very quickly. : )
I've only played the ASCII version. It always felt like "the genuine game", and that's what I played on my Amiga in the 90s. But I'm trying the fancy graphics one now.
Ultimate ADOM was a giant disappointment to ADOM fans who wanted "ADOM-2" To be like ADOM-1 but better. It's nothing like it and when it launched, diagonal movement was not an option. ADOM1 is awesome.

Adom is great, but idk if I could call it the best when ToME exists... it's a tough call lol
@@TheOnlyGhxstbased af, ToME is definitely the best roguelike ever made. ADOM is great though

ADOM is a bit dated but still a great roguelike. The sequel, unfortunately, is pure garbage.
Ya sheesh don't know what happened there... very disappointing!
Angband is enough :)
