it's difficult to speak for someone who we don't really know, because we dont know what they were truly like behind closed doors, but I'd like to believe that bob saget was just a comedian who believe that comedy has no boundaries. its sad to see him die so young, however. cant imagine what his daughters and the rest of the family must be going through right now.
Yea we really don’t know what he like behind closed but everyone who was on Full House are saying what a great and friendly guy he was. So that and not hearing anything bad about him. He will be missed and is a big lose to the comedian community.
When you can't find a single public figure willing to disparage you, public or private, you know it's a quality person. RIP Bob Saget, I know I'm one of many who really took you for granted about the impact you made in my own life. Also, I enjoyed the unedited ramble, good stuff keep it up
A lot of times the reason why comedy can be "offensive". Is because it's mocking the stupid things that we people do. If you cant hold the lens of comedy up to yourself then there may very well be something wrong with you. Of course, there are limits but we shouldn't just cut someone off at the knees because you don't agree with them.
I've never seen Bob Saget perform stand-up comedy. I've only seen him on Full House and when he was hosting AFV back in the 90's. That's the Bob Saget I remember.
Here's my take as someone who does lean left and I think we should all try being more aware of what we say. I don't believe in policing Jokes and what is offensive and what isn't. I always believe that if we can laugh at ourselves and keep an open mind society can become alot better.
I was in total shock when I heard the news about Bob. He really made an impact on the world. Everyone knows him as Danny Tanner and I feel that his character on the show really reflects who he truly was as a person.
He was America's Dad before the internet took off and took people attention away from the television set. People from all over the country cared about Danny Tanner and his three daughters and his two buddies. Ultimately, the show was his story.
I think this was a video that needed to be made. I grew up having Bob Saget on the family TV every Friday night. Then experienced his stand up comedy when he toured with Opie & Anthony. The man was a comic legend. So many people either knew one side of him or the other. I’m glad I got to experience both sides of his comedy and am even happier that so many wonderful stories and memories are being shared by the people that knew him best.
Whether it was wholesome Danny Tanner or raunchy Bob Saget, the man himself entertained people in a variety of ways and his mark won't ever be forgotten.
If people are so easily hurt by words now I wonder what I’ll be like in another 20 years. I’ll always remember bob as the gentle father on full house and the AfV guest. RIP
Another important point to make is that EVERYONE at one time or another will have bad/inappropriate thoughts in their minds - nobody is immune. Exclusively kind/innocent thoughts are very unrealistic, it's just human nature. By using these dark, inappropriate thoughts for comedic effect, we acknowledge that there lives a darkness within us that we are not afraid to face from time to time. I don't condone comedians who troll with purposely offensive jokes just to cause outrage, but I will support a comedian's decision to use dark humour to highlight aspects of us that we prefer to keep hidden.
I remember when I was just a young kid, I’ve seen one of the full house episodes when Bob Saget was in, and of course American’s funniest home videos back in my old days, and those days where all inspirational and funny he was a great person. RIP BOB SAGET
I love unfiltered comedy. I also love Bob Saget's comedy. And how he was able to go through this generation without dealing with any controversy is a miracle in itself. Offensive comedy won't last long if people don't learn how to lighten up a little and deal with a little humiliation. Roasts almost don't exist anymore because of it.
As Fabian said in the comedy-play Twefth Night by Shakespeare : "If this were on stage right now i could condemn it as an improbable fiction". Thank you for this evaluation and recognition of what comedy is boogey. You still have many good thoughts to share with the Internet.
One reason is that we learn so much about a person after they die that we just weren’t aware of before. In the case of Bob Saget, all good-but so many malicious internet lies about him. Shameful!
I was never a huge fan of the shows. Caught some stand up he did. REALLY good. He was an icon for the industry for sure. In fact I would say Robin Williams defined comedy and Bob Saget defined the industry. Both were ALL over the place.
Check out Bob Saget on Quantum Leap to see him as a hot headed comedian. He really didn't reinvent himself in the 2000's he had always been a raunchy comedian on stage. Good guy, but very offensive when it came to comedy. Never heard he was offensive on set or anything like that, and most people have a genuine love for him.
I saw Bob Saget live at Count Basie Theater in NJ years ago and was surprised even shocked of how dirty his material was. I think the audience was too, and didn't know how to react. Heard mostly uncomfortable laughs. I saw The Aristocrats and Bob's telling of the aristocrats was one of the dirtiest things I've ever heard I wasn't offended but was surprised. I read about Bob being a great guy. RIP Bob
I don't think we've outgrown anything. I think it just gets old after a while. Had you watched none of it back then and watched it today for the first time, I bet you'd be laughing your A off all the same.
I have been listening to Bob Saget's Podcast and he said he made Full House jokes but he made sure the person was fine with it because he really cared about them and never wanted to hurt their feelings. Also his roast people made jokes about the Olsen Twins. On his podcast he said he didn't like those jokes but what people refer to is the jokes people made at his roast.
Bob never made jokes about the Olsen twins and reacted negatively to those jokes when he heard them. Even his most offensive jokes came from a person with no harm in him.
You're one of the few people on UA-cam who knew (or at least mentioned) about both sides of his comedy. Your video here was pretty decent. You covered the subject matter fairly and reasonably.
Bob Saget went from an actor and a comedian became famous and we lost a actor and a comedian who made people very entertained. Rest in peace Bob Saget you'll be missed and not forgotten.
Bob was one amazing human being. His loss hits hard. As an up and coming standup comic, I can tell you that he isn’t the last to push the envelope. Cancel culture is free advertising and many of us are using it to our benefit. Don’t like our humor? Don’t listen to it. It’s that simple. At the end of the day, what really matters is how we treat one another, human to human. May Bob’s memory be Eternal ❤️ - Johnny Jello
No one dislikes him for "dirty jokes." That's asinine. I love boundary-pushing comedy and subject matter seldom offends me. Chapelle's Sticks and Stones stand-up was excellent. Bob Saget was just sick. The things he exposed those children to back in the day should've gotten him arrested. What other dirty comedian jokes (in a casual setting, not on stage) about prostituting their minutes-old newborn to a friend? That's just one microcosmic example of the kind of person he was.
Vulgar and disgusting humor is something i really enjoy because the only good thing that can ever come out of something horrible is a good joke. RIP Bob saget!
That's a good point you made. Just because you're a comedian that tells offensive jokes doesn't mean that you're a homophobic, sexist person. Even though the jokes are offensive it's important to separate the jokes from the person. You can apply the same logic to Dave chappelle. Just because Dave tells offensive jokes doesn't mean he's a homophobic person that doesn't believe in gay rights. He can tell those jokes and still be a good person.
i agree with that statement of jokes should be taken as jokes for entertainment, and not to solidify twisted ideologies. some jokes do go to far and each comedian needs to know where their line is since each comedian is different
I’m so tired of the people disparaging comedians for being controversial. If you find it humorous then you should go see that comedian. If you don’t, then stay home. It’s that simple, you can’t be offended if you’re not there! All that being said, RIP Bob!
I watched full house here and there, never could get into it. I liked fuller house a lot more, and Bob's appearances were always fun. His raunchy humor was too extreme for me at the time I found it, so I've never watched. in A way, that's the service raunchy comedy provides... an outlet for the id to express itself before it becomes ego.... because there's nothing funny about comedy when it gets taken seriously.... some people miss the point; so much that they become the punchline... it also helps reveal who sees the joke, and who seems to think they're attending A TED talk at a comedy club...
It’s bad because we no longer have a low bar to measure other comics with. Now to be fair. I don’t actually have a problem with Bob. Or spend any amount of time thinking of him. I had a joke. So there it is. RIP.
