I'm an 15 year old artist and have been drawing since forever. But there was this one point throught my art journey when I stopped enjoying art and just focused on the end product. Watching your videos inspired my a lot and I found myself actually enjoying the flow of the brushes and the vibrancy of the colours after a long long time. The confidence you have to set up and paint with an actual water pot and gouache squeezed fresh from the tube, balancing on your lap, waiting 1 hour before a flight 😮😮 my anxiety could never hahaha!! 😂 I love these sketchbook dates

Thats what I thought too, that's very brave, I would really worry to miss my flight and end up not painting at all. I might wait weith the paint till inside the plane.
Sketching in public with a pencil or pen is challenging, but full palette in gouache- impressive! Anyone struggling to justify the purchase of a high quality watercolor brush needs to see this! A good, medium-size round can deliver everything from broad washes to precise lines. We were pleased to see the Lamy fountain pen made another appearance, too! This was a lot of fun, and the added pressure of the sketch location made us feel the rush of excitement when the sketch came together!

Do you ever tell your subjects that you film them? For example, my mother doesn't mind that I post paintings I've done of her online, but photos or videos would be another thing entirely. Filming strangers (for any reason) and posting the video has become so normalized and I just can't agree with it. That aside, the painting turned out gorgeous.

I've always wanted to try painting in settings like this but I always get bogged down by other worries--like what to do with my dirty paint water when I have to get on the plane, or the hurry to pack everything up when time is up. What do you do in this situation?
It's amazing how much of a likeness you were able to capture with so little time!
Thanks for watching :) it worries me as well sometimes but you’d be surprised how well you adapt as a human at any situation and are always able to find a solution. You can get paper towels from the bathroom quickly and soak up the water - then toss away as you board and plan ahead on taking limited supplies to ease up the pack up process! Hope this helps :)

Thanks so much Deborah! They allowed it! As long as it’s in the airline guidelines (check your airline) it should be fine! I haven’t had an issue. Just as long as the tubes are small.
I really love your art and have been following you for awhile. While I do love the art style of sketching people in public, I hope you had their permission to film them and show them on youtube. I am not sure about in airports, but I know it is illegal to film other passengers on a plane without their permission, and I know I personally would be furious if someone took video of me sleeping on a plane without my consent. If you do not have written permission from these people, you may want to take the video down or blur them out before you have legal trouble.

I soaked it up with paper towel and tossed away and then boarded :) it’s also a collapsible cup so it collapsed and I can put it back in my bag
How do you feel motivated to draw?
Did they let the paint through security ? Im never organised enough to create a painting building layers and really focusing on the painting when out and about. This was wonderful and really captured something about them and that memory 😁

I saw that painting of that two couple and it was good like really good right now I'm trying to become a better painter myself not only to push my boundaries of my zone but also to get used to paints and I also had to laugh because you and I have the same gray marker for shading 😂

Also, I took my son to American dream mall to see mr.beast, and of course I’m hunting down somewhere to get cofffee (never been to that mall and it’s huge!) I had to ask two people because the security guard had no idea what I was saying. I pronounce it “cawfeee” and I guess the force is strong with my accent, cuz dude had not a clue.
The second guy came in clutch but even he had to make me repeat it twice. Lol.
My sons accent is even stronger. He’s in high school and even his friends comment about how his accent is one of a kind, he sounds brooklaleen actually. When I go to Disney world, hah lol. I’ve had people comment on it dozens and dozens of times. I never thought I was that hard to understand. 🤷🏻♀️

This took me back to when I flew for the first time out to St John's Newfoundland. I was waiting in Toronto for my second flight out and I took out my sketchbook and drew. Your videos really are relaxing and fun to watch, I hope the adventures in New York go excellent.

All through the video I was looking forward to the moment you surprise the couple with the painting. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like it would have been a decent/right thing to do. You got a UA-cam video out of it. You got some experience out of it. The couple should have gotten the painting!

ran to my computer as soon as I saw the insta post, lol im so shocked the couple didn't notice you painting at all.
The illustrations on the plane of the different "characters" for some reason reminded me of when i was a kid and I went to the library , I used to love the story books of a similar style where they had that black inked characters on that yellowish brownish paper in the books , gave me nostalgia and this triggered the smell of the books for some reason lol. Looking forward to the next one :D

Ohhh i was waiting for you to show your painting to the elderly couple and see their reaction! I assumed you would do that kinda to take their permission as you were filming and painting them. Still such a fun lil vlog. Airports are actually one of my favorite places, and I have sketched on flights!

I love whenever I get the notification saying there's another sketchbook date! I watch them on my early Monday morning commute to work and it brightens my whole day before I even had my first coffee!😅 This one was especially great because I love travelling! Unfortunately since lockdown it's been hard for me to get up and go see the world so sitting at the airport and on the plane really brought back a lot of memories! Thank you for sharing these amazing stories and I can't wait to see what New York brings!😁🙏
