I actually did miss the minekart section in death mountain because of the flying machine, I was thinking if I was missing something but after all it was just faster and easier to use the hover bike
i actually didn't use the minecart section or the flying machine. i thought the intended way was to climb up it so that's what i did. i still had a lot of fun trying to figure out how to traverse the mountain though.
Banger vid man, keep it up! Solid editing and sound, great job. Definitely agree with your point - I think the new towers in this game are cool, but they add to the same issues, where you end up teleporting to a nearby tower and then paragliding out from there instead of wandering to all the nearby locales you wanted to see. Definitely had more fun limiting the amount of time I used them for travel and went on foot instead.
Yeah, I've gotten a lot fewer Korok Seeds because I never really walk anywhere unless I'm in the Depths. I'm currently doing a personal challenge on a second account where I'm fast traveling as little as possible (I'm only allowed to leave the Depths with it, and even then, I have to go to the nearest Shrine to where I entered the Depths). It's been fun so far.

Great video, its something ive been talking to my friends about too. Two of my mates loved, loved, loved BOTW but havent got into TOTK and have moved on. I think partly because the of the reasons you mentioned but also the tone of both games is very different. BOTW celebrates isolation and wilderness, wheras TOTK's Hyrule feels alive and full and rather than being your own, it always feels like someone is just around the corner. I personally love both but its interesting hearing other peoples takes! Keep up the great work, liked and subscribed!
WHAT how does your channel only have 200 subs??? Your production quality, editing and overall enthusiasm made me feel like I was watching channel with a million subs! Keep up the great content!!!
Great points, sums up my biggest complaints. Fortunately for me most of these feelings didn't start bothering me until I was over 100hrs into the game. Still probably my favorite video game but not one without flaw. Your video is very high quality btw, you def deserve more support!
Dude ngl, I’ve been subbed to your channel for like 7 months and I love your videos. You were definitely one of my inspirations. Really appreciate the comment Gabi🙏😁
I disagree as most players won’t even have access to flying tools such as the op hover bike until they grind out batteries and zonaite like 30 hours into the game
Cool analysis. I remember thinking the same thing - the added mobility will be gamebreaking... no more getting stuck behind giant mountains, not more having to travel through a gauntlet to reach a city (like following the path to the zora city in botw for instance). Now I can just fly there, or I can launch myself out of a skytower and glide there. The thing is. this new creation is a double edged sword. The building mechanics and the sky islands are awesome additions... but both inevitably invite gamebreaking mechanics. If you want people to explore sky islands, you need to give them a way of launching in to the sky. If you want players to experiment with building using ancient technology, you give them a free pass to just travel anywhere with no restrictions. It's a double edged sword. My conclusion was I was happy either way, because the added difficulty of exploring the depths and the hidden skill system which spawns harder enemies as you gain exp makes up for the methods of 'cheating' we've been given. I still feel adequately challenged despite all of these new mechanics which make the game easier. I'm happy with a game so long as I feel challenged and engaged... and thats how I feel with totk. So it's all good
Dude this video was awesome, the editing was really good, the voice the text. I think you deserve more than 40 subscribers. I'm gonna subscribe. Keep it on
I’ve thought about this a lot with open world games and superior tools. I recently started replaying Pokémon Scarlet and decided to explore the entire world without upgrades to the ride Pokémon. I was able to get to all of the fast travel points, but it was honestly a challenge. I could tell where the developers had added paths I never used for travel which I suddenly had use. This was great for world building because not everyone has a super ride that can jump and climb things. Even once you get all the upgrades, your fly distance is heavily limited (it is basically a glider) to prevent flying from dominating the game. Personally, I would have buffed flying as part of the post game, but I at least understand why they limited it for the main game. Bringing this back to Zelda TOTK, I think the developers might have underestimated the creativity of the player base. For example, they clearly intended flying machines to be more limited (look at how fast the wing despawns). I wonder if anyone actually anticipated the two fan steering stick bike otherwise known as the hover bike. There are some no wing flying builds in the world for you, but no hover bikes. Usually, they either use the balloons, rockets, or have four fans and batteries. They certainly didn’t anticipate people breaking off part of elevator to make a low gravity flyer or the use of unconnected fans to violate physics. On top of that, they probably thought people would be less efficient at gathering resources. Until you unlock Autobuild, things are much harder. The intended path likely concentrates on the regional problems first, exploring the land and sky. From there, you go to the depths with the fifth sage. That’s not to say that they didn’t expect you to explore the depths earlier. Instead, it is that they likely didn’t expect people would be able to fully exploit the power of the depths so fast.
also the map is good but its not "great". It feels too empty. I found myself feeling like i was looking at the same field of grass with either snow or rain on it to make it different. To me there wasnt enough to fill every space. Thats also the unfortunate part about open world games. Elden Ring is by no means my favorite game but what i find it does well is populate every inch of the map with something to look at or do. In Zelda i find myself wanting to explore but too often i feel like even though im on the opposite side of the world it looks the exact same.
Good points, trying to rescue players from optimizing the fun out of their experience is an eternal game design problem that only gets harder the more tools the player has. I would have liked to see a few systems that reward creative builds. (Deliver an NPC a flying machine using at least these 3 (heavy) parts.) I found myself endlessly repeating a few contraptions that solved my open world problems. One to go up, one to go far, etc. Or alternatively, an NPC that tracks how far you've travelled using each player verb and rewards you for milestones. (Walk 5km / ride a horse 5km / glide with paraglider 5km / shield surf 2km / swim 2km / etc) Or even challenges that limit how far you can travel with a certain verb (reach this korok / shrine only on horseback / shield surfing) kind of like the koroks that didn't let you touch the floor.
I feel your biggest issue with TotK is that someone showed you a picture of a hoverbike and it wormed into your brain. Understandable, RIP to you, glad I kept away from the internet in my first few days of playing.
Honestly I felt the same way where I wish I hadn’t seen it. But even if I hadn’t it’s not a stretch to still take a flying machine with 4 fans to accomplish all the same tasks.
I used to think this, but the more I thought about the game the more convinced I am it needs MORE Symmetry in sky and depths, that is, we need more sky caves and caverns on top of the depths map, not as particular content rich locations, but maybe for example as stops on the dragon routes with features of interest like new side bosses like a large Aerokuda or rare elemental battle Talus with Elemental Bokoblin riders, Mucktorocks, challenge gauntlets with unusual enemy formations, etc. Then in the sky we need more caves in general.

BotW and TotK are definetly in my best zelda games list, they were a experience that made me speechless, that said, that was a great vid, and i agree with it, and the funny thing is.. u know the desert sandstorm puzzle ? it didnt hit me that i could build a flying machine to go over it, i assumed it wouldnt let me, it would have some invisible wall or something like that, didnt even tried, then i saw this video and i was like: oh.. yeah.. i could've have done that, why didnt i think about that ? thats such a easy and obvious way to ''solve'' the puzzle, but for me it wasnt, i think thats what the devs could have intended by some degree in the game, different people have different ideas about how to deal with a situation or problem and how they will find a solution, and the freedom that TotK gives to us to solve those problems are the beauty of the game in my view. :D

So Games are supposed to have a path, and you just getting bored and building a flying machine sounds like a lack of patience, and making things go faster yeah but it’s a dungeon even when it doesn’t feel like it. It supposed to HAVE a puzzles. But, your video was quite cool and some parts I agree with, so, g’day
