HL3 has been in development for years and it will continue to be. Valve has fk you money and doesn't need to release anything in a hurry. HL3 is a tech development project. With cliffhanger HL Alyx ended... It was quite obvious that Valve hinted the third installment of the game. Now, it's a much safer bet that Half-Life 3 is being working on. We could probably see it in 3-4 years from now.
I really really need to binge play all the games again, properly this time. We can only hope HL3 comes soon but is it time for *Source 2* to be public? All the innovation and gaming industry talk leads me to believe HL3 will be in preparation for that. Fingers crossed for both.

Here's something interesting that I bet most people don't know (or have forgotten) that would be _shocking_ if it wasn't directly related to Post-'Alyx' Half-Life: In January of 2021, Gabe gave an interview in New Zealand (why there? No Clue.) In it, he talked about their state of Brain-Computer-Interface technology (BCI) essentially their ideal control mechanism for 'Alyx' and VR in general. However, it goes MUCH deeper than that. He basically said that they ALREADY HAVE (and this was just shy of _FOUR_ years ago, remember!) not just BCI functional interfaces, but VR-Experiences that, for lack of a better term, are essentially 'Sword Art Online' in quality. He said they could create Virtual Worlds that were 'more real than reality' and that regular life seems somewhat dull and flat by comparison. He talked about how they discovered that the human brain was extremely adaptable and could even learn to control having many tentacle limbs, like an Octopus. (Which also may be a subtle reference to SAO, for those familiar with the Anime.) He said that their biggest problem, was that the technology was developing SO fast, that they were having a very difficult time deciding when to 'lock things down' for commerical release. Saying that if they did that, then a mere six months later, that new tech would make the 'old' versions look antiquated. SO. In less than two months, that interview will have been given Four years ago. Since then... Nothing. Not a Peep. No additional interviews, no brief mentions of the project, not even little hints. Zero. Nothing. Nada. Was it abandoned for some reason? Did they have to close down public discussion? Did they decide to go 'Radio Silent' and dedicate this tech for Half-Life 3, so that it can be as big of a leap as each new HL game has been? Questions, questions...
Thank's to your channel, which appeared in my recommendations talking about this project, I bought yesterday Black Mesa and Half Life 2, casually it's Half Life's 20 years aniversary so all of it costed me 6€ in Steam, I can admit I haven't had a good gaming experience like this in a pretty long time, thank u❤❤

"Half life is a tool for us to explore new technology opportunities and there's no shortage of those opportunities in the industry today" Gabe slyly confirming hlx and hopefully hl3
The main formula of Half-Life games, is to impress the players, to make them surprised and amazed. That's how Half-Life 1, 2, Episode 2 and Alyx gain it's popularly and good reviews. Valve probably trying to make Half-Life 3 better than rest of the series, which would take a lot of time.
I don't understand why it took them at least 15 years to become transparent about episode 3. Now suddenly on the 20th HL2 anniversary, they decide to lift the cover about what was happening and give us some details about episode 3. Also, it seems to be implied that if HL3 happens, that it will incorporate some of the concepts originally intended to be in episode 3.
In the doc at 2:00:23 Gabe says "The ending of HLA is somewhat a self critical realization, so it was super satisfying..." I'm not really sure what this means...your interpretation at 7:34 is that they know how to finish the half life series, but I guess I take it more as "we realized we wrote ourselves into a corner with the ep2 ending". Idk, it feels like the Gabe quote needs more context; i'm curious what question Gabe was asked to elicit his response. They always knew HL was their vehicle for showing off innovation, so I'm curious if you could expand on your interpretation a little more
It was interesting to see the new guns they tooled around with, although a bit wacky and “off brand” imo - same thought I had for the electric one from Arkane. Jesus, we actually might get GTA6 before Half Life 3
The last thing Gabe said in the documentary was the hint that something new is coming.
just so you don't waste time sitting through the whole video, no they don't directly confirm half life 3.
You can’t reasonably say "they are literally saying we are making HL3", when they are literally NOT saying that. Come on dude.
For those who see 0:47 as a big butt at the back, it’s a tactical rig, only the back pouches (that would hold ammo or grenades) are visible.
HL3 has been in development for years and it will continue to be. Valve has fk you money and doesn't need to release anything in a hurry.
HL3 is a tech development project. Interesting concepts become their own games but they've never had a complete product they've been happy with to push out as HL3.
Will they ever get there? Who knows. But they'll always be working on something just to see what they can come up with.
With cliffhanger HL Alyx ended... It was quite obvious that Valve hinted the third installment of the game. Now, it's a much safer bet that Half-Life 3 is being working on. We could probably see it in 3-4 years from now.
1:56 heyy, it's TheParryGod. He makes such great Half-Life animations
I really really need to binge play all the games again, properly this time.
We can only hope HL3 comes soon but is it time for *Source 2* to be public? All the innovation and gaming industry talk leads me to believe HL3 will be in preparation for that. Fingers crossed for both.
I've been waiting for silksong for 6 years, and it still dosen't come close to how long i've waited for episode 3/HL3. I am unable to lose faith.
I think hlx is a new game called " half life xen" I just feel like they're going back in some characters that haven't been seen in a while.
I was surprised they didn’t mention the Director when talking about Ep3 - I think to remember there were *official* statements from Valve saying that working on L4D was good because they would then use The Director in Ep3… I remember with friends on forums we were imagining how that could have looked like
Gordon done went in stasis through 8 Half Life games and now we are in 10, curse you G-Man
grrrrrrrr. my comments keep getting deleted! i only referenced self pleasure once if i saw mr freeman again
it's because of the european union and their silly free speech laws
huh
wdym? automatically by UA-cam?
@ yeah
@@gabe.follower yeah i think so. might have been a bit too naughty for youtube
If a headline asks an enticing question, the answer to be found in the material is almost always "No."
If they "officially" teased it then it wouldn't be a question. There would be an official tease.
We got gta vi before hl3
one thing that always intrigued me is how portal 2 shows the borealis missing from Aperture facilities. i wonder if gordan will ever get his hands on a portal gun.
No, they didn't. Every 'tease' they've done in the past was super deliberate. They're not in the business of teasing things in general.
Mr Freeman
The blob seems like it would be a good showcase enemy that chases you through scenes, similar to the big antlions in several levels of half life 2 episode 2.
Does everyone not remember whats said at the end of half life alyx (I didn't play it but watched it online) "Gordon, we've got work to do"
"For those who suddenly don't know"
still ice?????
balkan rage + mango phonk + noradrenalin + jamaican smile + german stare + sigma mode + trollge crashout mode + english or spanish + anger issues + adrenaline + freeman walk + combine dance + hawk tuah + mewing + turns into packgod
💀
WHAT IN THE HELL IS THIS?!?! At least it isn’t worse than the guy that assumed a tactical waist rig was a butt
Here's something interesting that I bet most people don't know (or have forgotten) that would be _shocking_ if it wasn't directly related to Post-'Alyx' Half-Life:
In January of 2021, Gabe gave an interview in New Zealand (why there?
(Which also may be a subtle reference to SAO, for those familiar with the Anime.)
He said that their biggest problem, was that the technology was developing SO fast, that they were having a very difficult time deciding when to 'lock things down' for commerical release.
The hardest thing switching to an apple silicon machine was saying goodbye to this game.
Thank you for using my mcdonald's mod in this video. It was an amazing moment to see it. You have a great taste in mods.
man, you sound like Niko Bellic, that's so cool lol
And now its 2025 and valve forced cs2 players sub tick! 😢
Im suprised they nothing showed about the delete hydra monster in the documentary
don’t forget how the documentary begins with one of the lead artists reflecting on the train station the first level is based on, and how over the years it’s changed and evolved and looked completely different from how it looked when they were developing hl2…but recently it’s been under construction, and wouldn’t you know it, that train station looks just like it did 20 years ago…….:)
Valve takes a deep breath, concentrates and gets ready to count to three - HL3 confirmed
The blob creature phasing through vents and fences is absolutely terrifying, they should have implemented it
And the ice gun is such a good idea, even for 2024 standards!
I love you Gabe follower
I love you too!
We love you too
3:55 *WE COULD'VE GOTTEN SHEPHARD IN HALF-LIFE 2?!*
i wonder what garry's mod would look like now if half life 2 always had workshop support
"Half life is a tool for us to explore new technology opportunities and there's no shortage of those opportunities in the industry today" Gabe slyly confirming hlx and hopefully hl3
the blob enemy looks more impressive than anything that appears in modern games lol
I want Half Life 3 about as much as I want Portal VR. Which is to say, I desire both of these very much.
0:27 where the hell do i get the devs comments?!? Even the start i didn't received them??
If you have to ask “did they” then they didn’t
They straight up told us they're working on HL3, or at least want to, cause HL:A ending
Thanks for the news update, Niko
Let's go bowling
The main formula of Half-Life games, is to impress the players, to make them surprised and amazed. That's how Half-Life 1, 2, Episode 2 and Alyx gain it's popularly and good reviews. Valve probably trying to make Half-Life 3 better than rest of the series, which would take a lot of time.
Watching official Half Life 2 footage with Portal graphics is wild
Stopped at 1:50 when he said it was clickbait.
There are so many signs pointing toward a new half life game... I'm excited.
So if HL Ep3 ever comes and starts, is the ending final? nothing further after that?
i really want to know what happened to Dr.Eli Vance after hl 2 ending....scenes in hl2 so touching...
They always knew HL was their vehicle for showing off innovation, so I'm curious if you could expand on your interpretation a little more
no. they didn't.
no need to thank me for saving your time
If they actually announce HL3 this year or whenever I will be happy that I beaten Half Life 2 episode 1 and 2 today
gabe probably still hoping for that real time moss
hate how my inner ship nerd kicked in and I noticed the American Star in the concept art at 8:18 😭
I'll believe Half-Life 3 is real when the end credits of it are rolling on my monitor.
Maybe HLX mean Half-Life: Xen with story about people that fled from Combine there or being stuck there by some reason.
Just imagine if we get HL3 before GTA6…
It was interesting to see the new guns they tooled around with, although a bit wacky and “off brand” imo - same thought I had for the electric one from Arkane. Seemed too much Duke Nukem and suffering the “expansion pack” syndrome from games in the 90-00s, when an expansion had to have X new guns, Y new maps etc
dude valve is so awesome. Gabe Newell is my inspiration. if i ever run a business, i want to be like him. he's the coolest pioneer ever. never went public with his company and stays true to himself, does not release cash grabs even when his fans beg him to do it.
man if i ever go back to buenos aires im getting your autograph
As someone else on YT once said, the only reason they’ll make another half life game is to show off something new they innovated :)
Same thing with portal.
Like half life Alyx with their vr tech
