- November 24th 2008, The 17 Year Anniversary of the death of Freddie Mercury, Extremes final night of their UK tour ends with a tribute to the the greatest legend in rock history.
Also sharing the stage Justin Hawkins (The Darkness/Hotleg) aswell as The Duvals as Extreme very much reprise their epic Wembley performance back in 92.

Pete Ripaldi, from Hot Leg (a band Justin Hawkins had at the time, when he was away from The Darkness. They opened Extreme's concert that night... I was there, I can't forget it :) )
@chrismallyon - I don't think Justin rehearsed with them. He probably just wanted to hang loose and have a good time.
And that is EXACTLY why Brian May invited them to play the Tribute show and record with them, cause Gary is an awful singer. Right???
@Burqua12 - Are you serious?? Gary sings his own style. It's not a Freddie imitation contest. Hell, Freddie changed his phrasing live constantly.
@SigandGibbs Fourth: you're wrong: Brian May asked Adam Lambert to front Queen and he turned them down. Fifth: Paul Rodgers voice is very taxing after more than one or two songs - a LOT of people don't rate him. He has a few very adamant fans (like YOU) who make a lot of noise about his so-called greatness, but really... what has he done lately that was worth a damn? Nothing. And he sounded like shit on those Queen "collaborations"...he was a disgrace to Freddy, in fact. Justin is BETTER

Okay. So either I've got some health problems concerning my ears, or THEY PLAYED THE FUCKIN ORIGINALS IN THE BACKGROUND D: Why would anyone cover a song while playing it louder than they sang...? Makes me a bit pissed, cause however Freddie will be the first in my heart forever, I love Justin and wanted to hear him perform... Really, the only person whom I WANT to record a proper Queen cover xD Anyway, ROCK ON JUS
what is the problem with Justin, you must not know shit about vocals if you cant see what he added to that performance, not to mention his vocal range

i just cant believe justin is singing with extreme.. didnt even know they had heard of him.. doesnt sound too bad but sad to here xtreme still doing the bit they did at freddie mercury tribute concert.. was much better then when i went to see it... seems to have lost some of the magic it once had.. will be good to see what extreme do next (as in another album perhaps?)

This is one hell of a cover. Saw These Guys At Newport on the tour. They were awesome. Just like they were back in the day. Met them after the show and they were great to talk to. Spoke for about an hour. Cant wait for the next tour.

Tell me about it. I was at this concert, but everybody can go to wikipedia and look how cool the Astoria was. Certain things, when gone, cannot be replaced, unfortunately :(

Again great version just like 1992. Justin has a very weak voice and he sings falsetto all the time. Gary's voice is still better. more clear and solid. I love this jam!
This is just a mess of medley, the singing is not very balanced. No one shines.
Whatever..."Queen" without any of the feeling, usually associated with Queen.

Gerry Cherone misses the phrasing in "I want to break free", as usual (i.e. like he did on the F. M. tribute concert in Spring 1992).
I'm thinking about the phrase, around 00:23):
"you're so self-satisfied, I don't need you".
Freddie Mercury sings that phrase:
"I want to break | free from your life, you're so | self-sa' tiiis-fied, I don't | need you".
