I just bought a 2015 Chevy Malibu. That's what brought me here lol. It's way cool I love it! It's the smoothest car I've ever driven I can't even believe it.
I own a white 2015 LT2. I am 6'1", 230lbs. With the driver seat set at optimal comfort level for me, I can still sit behind driver seat with about 2in between my knees and the seat. My hair touches the headliner(I have big hair though lol). Mine has the 2.4l, and it's plenty for practical use. Not a tuner car lol, but passing/merging is not an issue. The transmission is fine. Smooth characteristic, a hair bit laggy, but that's how any 4cyl car feels. The interior is very nice imo. Everything feels solid. The UI is very easy. The 9-speaker pioneer sound system is great. It's bass heavy so start at low bass setting when switching up albums. Very well balance can be achieved with a bit of EQ management. I average 26mpg combined. I drive usually 10 over speed limit, but smoothly. Every now and then I put it to the floor so she can stretch. Brakes feel a little heavy, but mainly because travel is large. I actually prefer this tuning. Hate overly sensitive brake pedals. Trunk is plenty spacious. I have zero issues when stuffing it with people that don't use cruise control and look at me like I'm the one speeding up/slowing down. Overall this car is sexy. When I hear people say it's design is "boring", I smile and destroy them promptly.
I've got to say calling the Malibu "quite forgotten" seems more like a personal thought than an actual fact. It's actually out ranks the Mazda 6, vw passat, and Prius (just to name a few) in overall in sales. Not to mention its won "most dependable midsize sedan of the year", and "best in initial quality in its class" by JD power.
Funny coming from a questioning human child that finds blue dash board pretty cool, who drives a Subaru, who’s dealer marking group suggest that Subaru dealers spend up to 23-38% in advertising in the LBTQ publications. I honestly don't find anything wrong with this car.... I think this is one of the best looking ones. Other cars like the Camry, accord, fusion, optima, sonata, passat are getting boring looking to me. I fit in the backseat just find with some room when I sit behind myself.
yiyangcheng its a good looking car, I drive an 06 Malibu and the exterior doesn’t look that much different if I’m being honest. But. The 2016 model. That’s a sweeet looking car and I’m looking to buying it. Literally putting my whole paychecks in savings to make a good down payment on it lol
I've had my 2015 2.5 LTZ for 6 years and there's nothing I dislike about the car. 93K miles and looks and drives like new. Regular maintenance only so far. The interior lighting is super cool.
Just wanted to comment for anyone whose tall and wondering: I'm 6'5 350 and have plenty of leg room and cabin space. My head is no where near the ceiling and my width is not constrained. I drive this same trim level and have plenty and I mean plenty of comfort. The power seat which brings it all the way down + the option to push the chair back manually, will be plenty enough. Just thought I'd leave this here for anyone whose wondering. Being tall and car shopping is stressful. (also this is a mid size sedan)
I purchased my '15 1LT used with only 9,950 miles on the odometer, back in 2018. My car is the ecotek model so I use E-15 or "88" fuel from my local RaceTrac gas stations. The reason I chose this car is actually because of 2 reasons, I loved the exterior color: Navy Blue metallic, as well as the aqua-interior lighting at night. My regular maintenance visits to my local chevy dealership have been very pleasing, painless and enjoyable. So far, here are the things that have failed on my car, since I bought it: Head unit display(I can still play music through my phone), I just can't see anything on the screen. So I can't use the reverse camera anymore. Chevy dealership said $600 to fix it, so I said, "no thank you." The electronic panel on the left side of the drivers' seat is cracked and falling off, due to use.(getting in and out of vehicle) I may replace it soon. My car currently sits around 51k miles, and I really enjoy the drivability of it.(I just wish I had the model with a sunroof, fog lamps, heated seats & the turbo...) Maybe one day I'll purchase one, and check all my boxes... but Idk if there'll be a low-mileage one when I finally get around to it.
if anyone is looking for this car used 1 thing i noticed is difficult to tell the difference is the engine both are I-4, but what you have to look for is the red turbo badge on the back and not the green eco. Also the eco has start-stop so at the rpm gauge its not 0-8 ( rpmh x 1000) it goes 0(tart-stop)----then 1-8 theres a gap in the rpm gauge for the start stop

Hello I took out a BMW with my 2.5L Malibu2015 The owner of the BMW stopped at the same wawaa and asked me if my Malibu2015 is turbo? Nope has a 2.5 liter that's all. Note the 2.5L has power just get the power chip! Ecoboost
What I like in the Sonic over most other cars is the manual roll down windows, something you really need if your car ends up in a lake or river. The electric windows are a death trap for most people since they won't roll down when your sinking, and the water pressure of just a few inches height over the door is over 100 pounds and rising until water fills the cabin. They automakers should just give up on electric window altogether.
I have 2014 .does anyone think the engine sounds like a dust buster? I’ve asked a mechanic and he said it’s just how sounds . Very weird sounding. I thought there was something wrong
That's not piston knocking. It's the high pressure fuel pump driven by the cam shaft for direct injection. Idles produce a 750 psi up to 2500 psi at WOT. That video is not very representative, as you don't notice it - especially with the hood down. It's his garbage video equipment. You have to be trying to hear that - though this car shouldn't sit idling for too long either.
He should've never featured this car, as you're kind of right. Hardly any LT turbo cars, let alone, why would anyone take this trash for saving a few grand??? Way more features for a little more.
Your review was not very accurate - I can count maybe five things mentioned that are accurate. First off, why did you choose the LT verses the LTZ (on a dealer lot as well)? There are hardly any LT 2.0T, and it would be a solid waste IMO --->A few thousand more gets full leather interior, heated seats, and more. Boring? HA! Anything but boring! Have you even driven this car? Some have tested stock 0-60 at 6 flat, and tuned (like mine) it's even faster. As far as the hump, I've driven my 3LTZ across the country & Canada. Freeway range is 500 miles. Find me another car that can do that. Maybe the gas tank is too big for you. It's even been on the Tail of the Dragon (at 78k). It outperformed several cars, and received accolades at the end. No under-steer, braking was excellent. No shaking, floating, or vibration at 120-130 on a straightaway. If you didn't know any better, it felt exactly as 70-80mph. This was at 86k, original alignment & brakes. Just get rid of those crap Good for a Year tires. I use Continental (DWS06) ExtremeContact. BTW~ I've owned the same 2014 2,0T 2LTZ if anyone has questions on the differences. They are NOT the same.
Forgot to add - you had the driver seat all the way back and reclined when you commented on rear seating room. Then, to say the interior/dash/cluster is dated? The same year Buicks were not refreshed for their interiors, and the Cadillac steering wheel/cluster is the same. They did rip the ambient blue light from Jaguar XJ/XJL, as well as side profile. The new Malibu is nothing compared to this, durability, premium material and feel, or in overall quality.
