I really like the Malibu, and I don't understand why so many reviewers and auto journalists speak poorly of it. My one complaint is that the 2013's console did indeed look cleaner with the electronic parking brake. If they were going to remove the electronic parking brake, they should have relegated the parking brake to the pedal area instead of using a space-hogging handbrake. Cars like the Accord, 6 and Passat? They're fine with handbrakes. Why? Because they're offered with manual transmissions. But there's no real reason for a handbrake if the only option for the car is an automatic transmission...
the 2.5l engine is shit. ive done the timing chain on mine twice now and ive only owned it for 3 years
It’s a parking brake, used to supplement the parking pall in an automatic transmission.
I recently bought a 2014 Malibu. It is less than a month old and it is already acting up. I took it to a GM dealer today because after the car has been sitting for a while and I shift from P into R or D it makes a CLANK noise from the front end and it can be felt through the floorboard. Then as I accelerate slowly when starting off around 5 MPH the car will sputter and lurch until I accelerate faster, the service tech that rode with me noticed the noise and the sputtering and even commented that he felt and heard them too......the GM dealer had it in their shop for 3 hours only to determine that nothing is wrong it is normal to do that.
Thanks for the heads up. I really want to like Chevy's but it just seems there are too many posts like this that keep me from buying one.

I watched all your reviews on midsized sedans and went with the Chrysler 200. It has most all the same features as the Malibu plus a sunroof. I got it for $10k less than the competitors. Good job, Cameron!

Have a problem with the head in that vehicle. Soon would be need it. So check k on the warranty of that vehicle
I went on a short road trip in the 2014 LT Malibu 2.5 only thing I didn't care for were the huge headrest there wasn't a backup camera on the one I drove,I use more then my rear view mirrors while driving and if you turn your head to look back you can't see past the headrest also the headrest are huge in the back seats as well blocking some of your view but I can say the car drove great very quiet inside and a smooth drive with little road noise.

In my view Chevy did a great job restyling the Malibu I kinda wish though they added just a little more support to the back seats oh well I guess they had to cut corners somewhere other than that the Malibu is a Winner in my book well done Chevy
i rented a 2014 malibu when i was in Texas. it's such a cool eco car, i kinda like it better than the corolla.
my fog lights thing is completely black how can i be able to see the light bulb ? if that makes sense lol
Get rid of that complicated Start-Stop feature and I may be interested. Look at the Camry and the quicker Accord and they all get better mileage without that stupid Stop-Start engine.
I think The LT has the best and more reliable Malibu's in this era.

It is a false statement that the trunk of the Malibu is on the smaller side since it is on the largest (16.3 tie with Sonata vs Camry's 15.4 vs Fusion's 16 vs Accord's 15.8).

My sister bought her 2014 in 2015 or so. It became nearly undrivable by 2018. I bought it from her recently because I wrecked my beautiful, way more reliable 2005 Lexus that ran like it was brand new, so I'm hauling around this hunk of shit.

+victorakagoofy Push start is a system i would not even WANT on my car, it's a hassle when that shit does not function. I prefer a key..

+Mike Smith I bought a 2012 sonic with low miles. It rode really smooth but I didn't like it. It didn't even have a center console. I had it for a month and started having problems with it. It was in the shop several times for the engine leaking coolant. Finally the engine burned up. we only got half of the money we paid when we sold itAnyways I traded it in and got a 2013 Malibu LTZ with 41K mileage. Got it for 15000$ I've had it 6 months now now and haven't had a problem with it
