    The reason why I’m staying away from local police departments is because the lack of support. I cannot deal with that specially living in New York which is pretty much a blue state.

      @@thomasryan2679 Yea don’t get me wrong, I would love to be a Police Officer. Just not in NYC, and it goes beyond what the public thinks about cops. Is also the pay which is very bad compared to other departments around the city. Nypd starts out at 42k and in year number 4 the salary is still 47k until you hit year five which is 85k. That’s too much economic strain, so I’m looking into other departments that I can join. I know Nassau and Suffolk will have their exam soon as well which I will definitely take both exams.

    Federal law enforcement is prestigious. FBI, US Marshalls, ATF , Armed Forces investigations agents, are held in high esteem . Even State level criminal investigation agents are looked up to. Its the city, municipality, and county sheriffs that get singled out . They have most contact with citizens and civilian residents.

      😆🤣😂 who are you kidding? THE ATF??? Those dog killing law breaking unconstitutional pieces of sh*t??? They are the most hated in the nation and for good reason. Just ask those poor souls in a small town in Texas. They murdered children on multiple occasions. Burned people alive. And you hold them up as heros?? And let's not forget the whole gunrunning that they did while Eric Holder was at the helm.

      I'd even add that local LE investigators (i.e. detectives) have a level of prestige due to all the TV shows based around them. Being a uniformed officer whether it's local, state, or even federal like CBP or VA police isn't viewed as prestigious. Also certain agencies can draw certain amount of hate from certain groups. ICE for instance is hated by the left. ATF is hated by the right.

      The ATF is “prestigious”?

    Do you think Military Police is a good MOS to have in the military to join a Federal Law Enforcement agency? Or is there a better MOS to have?

    • @anonymoususer1026
      @anonymoususer1026 3 роки тому +1

      I know you’re asking about MOS’s, but let me give you some additional info:
      You’re certainly going to want a college degree with at least 3.0 in something related to law enforcement (like accounting, psychology, law, etc.). This seems to be more important in the application process than military experience.
      However, I will say that I think MP is a good MOS for federal because I have seen multiple federal applications asking about prior law enforcement experience or if the applicant has received training in law enforcement techniques and tactics. If you have MP under your belt, you can truthfully answer these questions on your applications in great detail. The only MOS I have seen an application question SPECIFICALLY ask about (I don’t want to give away which agency/position it was for) was Military Intelligence. I assume this is because MI requires a top secret clearance but it could have been for another reason.
      So my recommendation for you is MP or MI. If I were you, I’d do National Guard and go to college at the same time so that you get both done. Try to get some active duty orders in before you get out, this will help with positions hiring with a Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA). Certain federal agencies will prefer vets over non-vets when they hire under a VRA from what I’ve seen. Good luck

      I think so. Any high security clearance job, linguist, CID...there is no single MOS that will most likely qualify you.

      @@jayshhnow224 if you join the military police, you can eventually work as a Department of Defense Civilian Police officer. The DOD Police are federal law enforcement. You can use that to try and branch off to other federal law enforcement like the military CID, NCIS and so on.

    Do you have any insights regarding working for BOP? I'm in the process and I get mixed insights from both current and former officers. Even leos that know people from BOP.

      Bro what were you talking about? you are from the Bay too, the highest paying police Deparments in the US, possibly world. Redwood city starting off at 120k....probably was like 110 a year ago. lol. CHP Starts at 105k but they use to start pretty low compared to other departments. Only tiny towns making small salaries.
