I think Strickland's story is much more "tragic" than "inspiring". He's essentially become the thing he's programmed to be: someone who thinks about killing people, diminishes anyone who doesn't display the version of masculinity his abusive father instilled in him. He's deeply flawed, vulnerable, and lashes out like you'd imagine an abused bully would. I'm a dad who loves martial arts, but we need less assholes in the world. People admire Strickland for being an asshole.

I agree, deep down I think there’s a kind soul behind all that trauma. If you watch videos of him sparring he’s an incredible leader for his guys and is a great friend. He even squashed the beef with DDP in dms and apologized for saying anything that could have been over the line. His violence and desire to inflict harm is definitely a defense mechanism. I truly wish the best for him as someone who’s been through childhood trauma, I know that being the villain comforts people like that and makes it seem you can’t get hurt nor are the victim any longer.
