You're welcome 😊
Very helpful...I will look into that Dutch test.
I'm glad you found it helpful! You can learn more about the DUTCH test here: www.drkateld.com/DUTCH-info
I just started taking saw palmetto tincture daily, via syringe for the past week in the morning lets see if it helps with encouraging hair growth
Like I mentioned in the video, if DHT is your problem, saw palmetto could help! I do recommend taking a product that specifically contains the standardized fatty acids and sterols - like the ones at this link: us.fullscript.com/plans/drkateld-androgenic-alopecia-supplement-guide
Update please
Hi. Do you think saw palmetto is safe to take long term? When I look it up, it seems like it’s safe to take for up to three years, which isn’t great. Also, do you think there is a good topical product that works to decrease the effects of DHT on the scalp?
Hi - evidence suggests that saw palmetto is safe to take long-term, longer than 3 years. I'm sure there are many topical products out there for Androgenic Alopecia, but I don't have any specific ones to recommend. I'm typically focused on working from the inside-out. Thanks for the great questions!
@@DrKateLyzengaDean , is saw palmetto safe in terms of not increasing breast cancer risk?
Yes - it has anti-cancer properties!
@@DrKateLyzengaDean , one more question about saw palmetto-my concern about it is that it looks like it affects estrogen receptors or something like that. Do you think it can lower bone density over time? If so, that would be bad for me.
One last answer 😁 No it doesn't impact bone density and doesn't interact with estrogen receptors. For more info, feel free to check out my Hair Loss Deep Dive tutorial: www.drkateld.com/offers/m3wMKfRk
What about pumpkin seed oil?
There are a few studies showing slight reduction in 5-alpha reductase activity with the use of pumpkin seed oil, but I've found that standardized extracts of saw palmetto berry perform better! 👍🏼
@@DrKateLyzengaDean there’s a supplement under brand “Now’s’ which contain saw palmetto + pumpkin seed oil and zinc! Is it safe for woman in the her 20s to take (long term)?
I don't love the "Now" brand's quality. Here are the supplements I recommend: us.fullscript.com/plans/drkateld-androgenic-alopecia-supplement-guide
In india we don't have dutch test thn how can we test through serum
Unfortunately, it's very uncommon to test these markers via the serum - and they aren't as reliable as saliva or urine, but you could check your DHT levels (Dihydrotestosterone) to see if they are elevated, causing androgenic alopecia.
I checked with many doctors, my dht is normal , cortisol serum is also normal, dhea s is 246 range 90- 545
In that case, perhaps it's time to look for a different root cause - I explain the top 6 root causes in my Hair Loss Deep Dive! You can sign up here: www.drkateld.com/hair-loss-deep-dive
What if a woman has both androgenic alopecia and telegenic effluvium? What treatments do you recommend? ❤
You have lots of options! I'd suggest starting with the free checklist for this video - OR, if you want something more comprehensive, check out the Hair Loss Deep Dive here: www.drkateld.com/hair-loss-deep-dive
Does ferritin deficiency causes hair miniaturisation? Please doctor 😢
Sub-optimal ferritin can cause hair thinning in many patterns!
i was told that i have traction alopecia whats the difference?
Traction alopecia happens when you pull on your hair too much - sometimes from certain hairstyles or habits. Androgenic alopecia is linked to hormones!
