Plus the dances that James Brown incorporates in here are complex and still energetic at the same time. James Brown did his own choreography and was self taught throughout his whole career. Amazing and unbelievable for a self taught man. Michael Jackson was also self taught to a level but still needed trainers to help him dance perfectly to the level of James Brown, MJ's dancing was not completely improvised like JB which is why I'd say James is the better dancer. The 70s was when his dances became more complex and didn't just range from the mashed potatoes, the James Brown and the camel walk, he used his arms equally as his legs and moved all four of them at the same time. I found so much and plenty of footage of James Brown dancing similarly to how he dances here and like I said they're all 70s footage. Which shows you he took variety seriously especially in his dancing, definitely wasn't a one trick pony. The rhythms in his music and his music style was also varied but still perfect. I've yet to see his 70s dancing style be portrayed in cinema in a biopic cause the "Get on Up" movie wasn't it. They focused primarily on the 60s for his dancing and in general. Should've made it 3 hours at least and a 4 hour director's cut to show most of his 70s era.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the one and only Mr. James Brown . . . . . . and yes that's Bootsy baby . . . . did anybody else notice that this band is so tight that its damn near waterproof . . . . R.I.P. Mr.Brown , I know that heaven is funkier now that you're there
This is the greatest thing I never witnessed in real life.. I wasn't even born.. Thank you, internet.. And thank you James Brown and anyone who helped him make music throughout his career.
Malinda Walton There is still good Music. Honestly there was never bad music. From the days of classical music to this day. If you look for it you can find good music all over time ;)
Among the icons of singers, James Brown forever has the best energy. His abundance of energy radiates into the crowd. James come back brother we are missing you.
Why do people keep knocking each other, like Michael Jackson? Sure he learned many of his dance moves from famous James Brown, but so what! He learned from a wonderful mentor. I wish I could dance like either of them, and sing like them too. God gives something to each of us. Let's give thanks, not be critical.
Its amazing what they can do these days in the studios, make any mediocre voice sound the part, but if you ask me, they dont even come close to Mr. B singing live! I'm only 24 but I really feel i've witnessed the end of true quality material coming from the music industry, maybe i'm lucky to witness such a milestone that will go down in history, but I still have many more years to come and theres only so far back in history im prepared to go in search of good music! Rant over...
The Bomb!! He took that everywhere, and then, like Pharoah Sanders or John Coltrane, when his feelings moved beyond any words he could sing, he just let his voice wail it out!
The only thing that can describe this is Super Bad, Gravity, Soul Power! . What a huge sound this band has, what a groove and an artist and front man that cannot be imitated. I love the overtones on his voice... This cat goes unequaled!
Whooooah ... the Things that James Brown can do wit a song .... James Brown i love you I looooooooove you! I aaaaaaaaOV oooove ahooove YOU! thanks for puttin this up
Much "Respect" To this Man ,who started things, Only He could Finish.. Love, Prince and M.J. -but, He was The Supreme . Saw him ,around, 99'/2000 One of His Last Shows .He still had it .God Bless , the Great Music and what He gave of Himself ...
Paused an episode of "River" on Netflix to search the internet for details regarding the song "Sunny" which was featured in the show. Glad to find this version. James Brown owns and completely embraces this song. Thank you for posting!
I get chills when he screams at the end of the song, you can feeeel his soul pouring through you. That's what I want from an artist, your true self not a carboncopy.
@Fl0Vid because he had good dance trainers, good songwriters, good session musicians and was completely hyped, and the dawn of MTV also did it's share to make him a lot bigger than he ever deserved it.
Grande BOBBY !!! Grande tu Aporte a la Música del Mundo y ......... Muy Grande Maestro ... si ! Usted ... JAMES BROWN uno de mis Ídolos !!! los Aplaudo de PIE a los DOS !!!

James Brown could have done it in several directions , pop sound as original or funky ,but he did it exactly like he should have, upbeat , why it sounds so bad ass.
The best version of Sunny. Many are good but this one, man! this is the best!
