Wiring up a fuse box for my 180sx. Will work for 240sx or any other schassis, or car for that matter.
Its as professional as you can get, without getting an extremely expensive motec style PDM unit.
Forget messing around with hillbilly relays screwed into a board, with wires going everywhere do it right the first time.
This will be used for fuel pump wiring, electric fan wiring, gauge wiring, and fog lights on my 180sx.

You need to title/title this so the overland community can see it. Great tutorial, very clean and straight to the point. Narration was also very good. No bs, all business. Subbed. Shared to my overland group. 20k members.
Wow! Thank you SO much :) :) :)
Any recommendation for the title??
@@Ridgebackjp Im here for the same reason. Could title it something like: "Aftermarket Fuze Box Wiring Done Right | Race and Offroad Vehicles"? Im not quite sure. But im here for my overland build too! haha
Yes i found you only cause i am looking at airplane, marine and race wiring to find all the best practices and considerations, but i dont race, i off road and overland as well, totally subscribed and liked. Thank you!
I was planning to do the exact same job on my overlanding rig I guess I’m so luck I found you - thank you so much that was so much helpful! keep it coming please ❤️
My mind is blow about the one power terminal to power all the fuses and one ground to power all the grounds. So clean. I just ordered one.
Great video. Lots of good closeup detail on the crimping process which most videos seem to skip over.
This video is so much better than other videos out there I can see what is going on and the part list is easy to see.
This was exactly what I needed! Thank you! Awesome job!
One of the best videos I've ever seen. I know your 180sx will be built right. Subbed for sure 🤘🏻
This has got to be the best video I've seen on this topic! Super informative, very clear, and no other fluff. Thank you so much for putting this together!
I think u just help me over come my anxiety on my car. Thank you
This was a fantastic tut man, very very clean setup, ill probably be using most of what ive seen here for my harness in the future
thanks man, there are many ways to configure the unit, 5 relays and 10 fuses, very neat device.
Super clean job, thanks
Love it!! Clean setup. 👍
I really appreciate your video. The fuse panel solutions always seemed a little bulky and you outlined (especially integrating that PDM) exactly what I wanted to do with my restoration.
looks so neat, well-done.
Very nice video, I might use this as I'm in the process of building a custom wire harness for my 2j swap.
Awesome video, 🔥 playlist.
Really nice informative video. That's helped me as I've relocated my fuse buse to the passenger airbag and its a complete mess so want to completely remake it.
appreciate, thanks for taking the time to watch, if you have questions feel free to ask
your editing skills are great! please make more content.
Nice job! Thank you for sharing,
This is an amazing video. It's actually the first video that I've seen that uses current automotive style boxes that are super water proof and look clean.
Thanks brother, appreciate it
Very helpful great tutorial!
Excellent Video! Would love to see your entire wiring of the car.
Thanks dude, will be putting out a build review where my car is at the moment, what I'm working on, and some DIY guides on a few projects I've got planned.
Dude. Amazing video, thank you very much 🙏
I used one of these Bussmann power distribution modules on a friend's Dastun 240Z several years back for lighting and electric fans. Worked great and avoids a mess of individually wired relays and fuses. Bussmann now has a new power distribution series with even more circuits. Check out their ssVEC line. Up to 200 amps with three different combinations of relays and fuses. Thanks for showing that the T11 tool can be used for 10-12 AWG Metri Pack connectors. I was confused at first when I saw you using 20-24 die size, but I discovered later that die was intended for crimping to the wire insulation. Seems to work just as well for crimping directly to 10-12 AWG wire.
great video!
Excelente video!!! Saludos desde México
Of course you add music by home, nice.
This is very good work think you
Loved it, thank you!
Thanks plan to make a few boxes for standalone race type obd1 and k swap barebones engine management power distribution. This video and how you phase the process really makes I easy for the viewer to pause, perform length process, the continue without being bombarded with too much wealthiest of knowledge. Ie overseas. The directiveness and specificity about the crimp tool selection and advice for performing these functions properly enables guys to save and feel accomplished about their builds. You did a good thing. Cheers brother. I'll subscribe now. RESPECT
Autocorrect sorry... overseas=overshare
Great video ! Just subscribed.
awesome video. not doing a racecar this time. purchased a 66 bronco that needs new wiring badly.. after pricing aftermarket harnesses at $800-$1000, i decided I'd just wire it myself with some GXL since i did a HWY22 install from AAW on my 68 mustang. its pretty much just a universal fuse block. I'll be going with the Eaton 15305-1-2-3 20 circuit panel.
great video! subbed and huge thumbs up!
Excellent thanks
Resonance ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You can't put out one clean ass video like this and then stop.
i have lots of footage i need to edit. will do it soon, but will be more of a blog format. i also just got a much lighter, new camera, so filming wont be as painful
🙏 THANK YOU!
Hope to see more videos from you!
Might have something coming soon. Summer break for me starts in a week so hopefully can do something with the car.
@@Ridgebackjp have you made any progress off camera? I’ve been watching SO many videos on battery/fuse box relocation. I’m getting stationed in Japan for 3 years and want to do it to my Supra. I like it because it’s a job that doesn’t cost much money, just time.
good lesson. i make car fuse and fuse tap .
Thanks for taking the time to do this video.
I notice that you are using 10awg wire but per website description says that the biggest wire gauge supported is 12awg.
If ordered the parts you listed in description the box will fit 10awg wire and work?
Also when you flip the relays to make it negative trigger, if you do not flip them will be positive triggered?
Really like that setup is very clean and professional and want to install fog lights in a few semi trucks.
Thanks
The cleanest fuse block assembly ive seen. But did you make a video of final install? Because thats the final piece that im lacking
Very cool, would love to see how you mount it, to deal with the cables on the back etc
They make a bracket that locates the fuse block about 3 or 4 inches away from whatever you mount it to.
Great video super helpful, What wire loom did you use? I don’t see it listed in the description.
Love the video, you could frame a house with that tape measure you have, LOL
That's what it's for 😂😂😂
I'm just now getting around to doing this and realized you've referenced the wrong terminals for the 10awg jumpers. The correct part number is 12110853 for the tangless terminals you show in the video.
LIKED YOUR TUTORIAL AND THOUGHT YOU HAD SOME GOOD IDEAS. JUST HAD QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW YOU ARE WIRING YOUR GROUND SIGNALS, A LOT OF ECUS USE GROUND SIGNALS TO ACTIVATE THE COIL SIDE OF THE RELAY. FOR EXAMPLE FANS, FUEL PUMP ETC. IF I UNDERSTAND PROPERLY, THE WAY YOU WIRED IT THERE IS A CONSTANT GROUND TO ONE SIDE OF THE COIL AND THE SIGNAL BEING A 12V SIGNAL. BECAUSE OF THE BUSS BARS YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO BE SELECTIVE ON EACH RELAY.
Great video, do you have links for any of the other products you use in the build?
I bought some of those fuse and relay boxes a few years ago. A few grand in total including contacts. Only to realise that the relays are non standart.
And the only company that sells them in under 1000 pieces is in switzerland and only accepts card payment...which almost nobody uses in europe
Really great video, this explains so much. Quick question though. The plugs that you have coming off of the bottom for your various devices. Since you decided to plug the ground hole (since you didn't want ground wires running everywhere), will you ground each device to the frame or something where it's at? In my scenario I'm thinking offroad lights, fans, more lights, etc all over the truck. So at each light I would run the hot all the way to plug, but the ground I would ground down to the frame or something close by to each device correct?
"So at each light I would run the hot all the way to plug, but the ground I would ground down to the frame or something close by to each device correct?" Yes, correct.
Definitely what ive been looking for, planning on using this for my led lighting and such. Too bad you didnt put down how many of each
Most places have a minimum quantity order amount for things, list in video description. Good luck dude, glad you found it helpful.
Is there need for relays if you have one big cable going from the battery to the fuse box and from the fuse box to all devices like radiator fan, fuel pump, powerwindows etc. Before the fusebox you add a battery killswitch, evertime you stop driving, use the killswitch to disactivate the fuse box. Am I right with my thoughts?
Remember kids, dimpe goes in the back
This is an excellent video. Informative, detailed, and to the point. The time you have taken to include part numbers for everything you will need to complete a project like this greatly appreciated. How did you acquire the information about the Bussmann fuse/relay box, and all the components? I believe there are at least five 15000 series part numbers with practically zero descriptions on the internet. Bussmann seems to be marketing to OEM and significant up fitters only. Thanks for the education.
Thanks so much, your comment means a lot. The numbers I found from browsing electrical supply sites.
www1.cooperbussmann.com/pdf/36090f1a-b434-4910-98ec-1870f1f2519d.pdf here are all the numbers explained ...
Thanks, that helps a bunch.
so on that bussman fuse box if you want to run two fuses would you run a 10 gauge jumper and splice them to 87 pin on the relay?
Does mounting these relays upside down actually change anything? Aren't the connections through the relay, still through the diagonals, so if you mount upside down, they work the same?
Hey if one of the pins on my relay is yellow and the eaton panel on top (where the identifiers are)has burnt plastic from one of the series inputs, what does that usually mean? Can I just replace one of those wire ends or do I need a new panel? Thanks
When you install that panel bussmann, are you using a standoff to give room for all the wires on the back ??
Busmann sells a bracket that allows you to give room on the wires on the back...
You got an IG or something? I wish I could continue following your build I'm working on my own 180sx with an rb20 and man these vids are huge and more would have been wicked. But I understand life can get in the way of things
cleanest way to build a fuse box, but unfortunately people are intimidated by all of this.
Stupid question as I’m just learning. The wires you plugged in; are those the inputs from switches etc or are those outputting to the actual powered device?
Any clue where you can get these panels anymore? Can’t find any with the 2 buss bars in them.
i set this up and had some issues with getting it to work, any suggestion on trouble shooting?
I have the Bussman relay box 15303-5 - a number of switches send a ground signal to activate the relay (vs a + trigger) - is there a way to trigger the a / or some relays (pin 86) on the 15303-5 using a ground signal ?
Is there an install video?
Can that be wired for a negative ECU switch thanks
How Can i make a fuse box where I can connect an amplifier that turns on when the key is turned ?
The plugs that you created all had a single wire going to them, so why not use a single wire connector to save space?
What if your using this to make a complete chassis setup, but using the 10 relay 40 fuse option, can you get solutions for timer relays, and relevant flashers etc. thanks
not really, I've done some research to try to do this, some relays are pretty unique, and you would have to use a couple of the stock ones.
For some reason my crimped pins pull out from the buss man what am I doing wrong?
How exactly would you set this up to work with gauge wiring? Electrical noob here.
I am confused. You crimp 10 AWG wire with 20-24 AWG opening? Why?
How to buy this relay box
You gotta update with more wiring man
Literally just finished a new pc build. Have lots of video to edit :) was close to impossible to edit with old pc.
@@Ridgebackjp I'm collecting pieces for wiring my car completely from scratch. This was the best video out of dozens by far.
please include a link for the box with the relays
Got to the shop he mentions in the comments or prowireuse.com or something they also have them...
Where do you buy your supplies?
waytek
Question: Why did you use the 3m EPS-300 instead of raychem heat shrink?
:) thanks for question. 3m eps-300 is adhesive lined, raychem has adhesive lined also, so its up to you, for me its what was available.
@@Ridgebackjp thanks for the reply. What's the name of that sleeve that you used? Is it techflex F6N0? Are you working on your car in these quarantine days? I'm like you man. I don't like to see wires all over the place in the car. I also have a kouki s14. I'm kind of doing the same thing you doing but I actually deleted the whole fuse box lol. I have a swapped motor in my car and the previous owner did a poor job in wiring. So I decided to make everything nice and neat.
@@arlokkkk yes was techflex f6, actually gonna continue wiring the front end of my car today. I would have loved to delete the whole fuse box, but the way the A/C works and how it ties into so many circuits, and some of the specialty relays for some of the circuits which I could not source to fit inside a bussman box, made me stick with some of the oem relays.
@@Ridgebackjp got it! Yea in your case you doing the best thing in keeping the AC. I bought the car with the rb25 without the AC and I decided to delete the heater and airbag too so it's much easier now. I will use my car mostly for the track and casual street.
Could this fuse/relay block be used to completely wire a street car? I want the cleanest install i can get, and much rather buid my own wiring harness. Not sure how i would do the turn signals.
I highly doubt 5 relays and 10 fuses would be enough to cover a whole car. You would need a bigger unit, which is also made by bussman, similar concept, just bigger, or multiples of these.
@@Ridgebackjp do you know the name of the unit .? Ive been looking for a bigger one from them but cant really find it...would need 8…10 relays and 20 fuses
@@Gunnl 15402 might work but that was a 20 second google search and you will have to read up the spec sheet to make sure it will work for what you want.
@@Gunnl www.cooperindustries.com/content/dam/public/bussmann/Transportation/Resources/catalog_pages/power-distribution/bus-cbt-ds-series-15400-rfrm.pdf
@@Ridgebackjp yeah they dont seem to have the dual bus unit ..thanks for the link
where is the parts list?
Would you be interested in making one for other people.
I know you have affiliate links for the crimpers but you should try to do affiliate links for all the other bits.
no affiliate links, im only 150 subscribers
@@Ridgebackjp Oh i thought they were. I just say that cause this is a pretty good video and could maybe get a ton of views if it hits the algorithm just right haha. regardless it was a good walkthrough!
