    This is so very beautiful. I remember my dad’s level. It was wooden with similar spacing and positions of the vials and the wood was either dark red painted/stained or a cherry tree wood. It was just about the size of this one. So many tiny pieces and you spent the time and attention required to expertly restore each one. I love the laser being used for labels.

  • @katier9725
    @katier9725 Рік тому +136

    The one thing I'm wondering is if the original was in fact exactly 30cm long as it says on the side, because you cut off a bit from both ends. Might be worth adding some brass rectangles on both ends to bring it back to exactly 30cm if so. In any case, it's an amazing restoration, great job!

    • @markiobook8639
      @markiobook8639 Рік тому +26

      it won't matter- it's used to measure level, not length. 30 cm was chosen as it could sell to the UK-American market as a foot, and still sold as a 60cm (2 foot) and 100cm (Type 133) and its' accuracy tested and advertised as either minutes per foot or yard (3 feet = 3x12inches (2.54cm)).

      @@originalsusser Short cut measure for what? Those multitude times you need an exact 30cm measure but only have this level to hand? What do you do when you need to measure 40cm? All the modern Stabila levels of the various styles are labeled in cm &/or Inches yet NONE of the 8 or so I have of various types measure exactly the length. For example the type 96-2 in size 183cm/72inch measures 182.5cm to the outsides of the rubber ends. The Type 70 80cm/32inch measures 79.7cm, again to the ouside of the plastic plug ends. No, it doesn't matter.

    A functional work of art! I’m so glad you took the time to restore that old wood. Nothing like it exists anymore. Many restorers have thrown out the old wood, which is devastating in my mind. The new, thicker and superior brass rings brought this project to an echelon achieved only by master craftsmen. Bravo sir!

    De obicei îți văd videoclipurile cu plăcere și relaxare.
    De data asta am stat cu sufletul la gură. Îmi era frică de fiole să nu le spargi.
    Am fost constructor într-o viață anterioară, acum câțiva ani și foloseam destul de des acest tip de instrument, nu neapărat Stabila.
    Restaurarea a fost absolut incredibilă, ca de fiecare dată.
    Nivelul îmi place atât de mult încât mă gândeam să te întreb dacă e de vânzare. Nu as lucra cu el evident, acum nu mă mai ocup cu asta, oricum nu l-aș folosi, dar ar fi incredibil să îl am.
