The signs for both WHY and BECAUSE have multiple options. Don't be surprised if you see more variations while you are learning/searching signs. In my personal experience I have seen it become more common to use the rhetorical version of "why" for "because." It seems as though the signs for "because" that I learned many years ago are being phased out. Now it is more common to see either the rhetorical "why" or simply sign "why" in place of because. Still it is always important to be aware of all of your options while remaining open to seeing and accepting new signs.

My boyfriend and I watch your videos for fun and we’re learning to sign because it’s just so useful. Being across the room and needing to convey something or even using my gestures to express how I feel when I’m upset or sad or really excited it makes communication feel that much more intentional and potent.
