When I was a kid, I accidentally jump directly onto Birdo's orb and picked it up and opened the gate without killing her. I tried to replicate it for years and never could. Maybe Kosmic could figure that one out.
Don't think it's possible. Maybe you did kill her and she respawned, that happens a lot in 7-1. Or you could've killed her with a star and jumped right into the orb.

Unrelated but one time I was playing street fighter 2. Dhalsim did his fire breath but instead of flames coming out of his mouth, one giant wall of flames just covered the entire screen , it was awesome. Maybe if you jump on birdo the same frame an egg becomes visible you can steal the orb from her! Lol just kidding I mean I don't really know I'm just saying that would be totally awesome I hope that happens one day. It's time to jump on birdo thousands of times and find out! lol thanks for letting me rant I love video game glitches and exploits!

Oh it was summoning salts Abney video on mk64. I got confused cuz storster posted the smw 96 exit earlier too. Anyway we were talking about pretty much exactly this sort of things. Remembering or misremembering stuff and not even being sure if the thing even happened.
This was definitely one of the best runs I've ever seen. You have to be so skilled in all of these games. Then you have to put them all together and clutch them all out... impressive, I must say. Congrats
So every mario and luigi game, all 3 luigis mansions, new super luigi U, and mario is missing. And since we have a year let's 100% them... still shouldn't be to tall a task, the question is do we add any other games where as a single player you can play as luigi such as some of the NSMB games.
I'd be super interested to see what kind of time could be achieved if it was some as a relay with best in the world speedrunners at each game (Niftski does SMB1, you do SMB2-J, MFP does SMB3, etc.)
@@eleanorshuttleworth9346 Big fan of this and other multi-game ideas. Unfortunately, they're a bit harder on the tech crew but they already do some relay races, and extending those ideas could make for some really fun races. I will say though, at that point the hard part would be getting together all the right people to run it as a competitive relay to GDQ.
One thing I noticed in Wonder is that often times you had the characters in single file behind you, all performing the same actions, just a little bit later. It made me wonder if that's more like DKC the CPU characters follow you in single player. Otherwise, I don't see much reason for Mario to do a ground pound on a stack of enemies, and then everyone else behind him do the same ground pound.
Congrats on a great wr. I think it's wonderful you give credit to the history of this challenge and why it holds an affinity in the mario speedrunning community. Who knows?! maybe the next Kosmic, darbian etc will be inspired to break your record.
This is awesome. I’ve rewatched your SNES All-Stars and Mario 24 hour challenge quite a bit, so seeing how tight your SMB2U gameplay has become is really satisfying to watch. Congrats on the world record!
Awesome! I mostly just watch Mitch mario 3 runs so its interesting to see just how hard it is to speedrun that game, keep P speed, etc.. This was such a cool overall display of the games and an insane broad skill set.
Honestly what I found most impressive about all this while watching is you were able to remember all the setups and tricks for all 6 games and switch between them seamlessly. I definitely could not build up the muscle memory for this.

It's 3/8 of the time for 1 hand and 1/8 of the time for 0. Then 3/8 of the time for 2 hands and 1/8 of the time for 3. I'm curios how you got your result though

I'm of the opinion that Yoshis probably are powerups, but also something available in certain levels. The only times we saw Yoshi was as someone who could be ridden, and then everyone being a Yoshi. It's possible those Yoshi levels won't have powerups. That said, I don't see much of a problem with having a Yoshi change colors if they were to be able to collect fire flowers. It would just add white to the color scheme in some way, while still keeping enough of their actual color to still be distinguishable. This would only be a problem in games like Wooly World, where Yoshis can have patterns.
The eshop description lists him as playable and he has his own life icon. Mario didn't change his when in that odd ball transformation in the Wonder effect.

Three SMB2-J WRs for Kosmic: 8-4 Warpless, 100% and now any% as part of the Marihour Challenge. All he needs for total domination of SMB2-J is the True Any% WR.
One thing I'm amazed with is how you can both play all these Mario games flawlessly while reading the chat and answering their questions. I would've died the second my eyes looked down to read the chat. Then again, Mario is not my game it's okay. Zelda is my game.

I think you should have mentioned that you aren't allowed to use ACE because it allows one to skip W8 in SMB3 and most of the game in SMW, making the runs that allow it much shorter (ACE is a kind of glitches that transfer the execution to RAM, allowing one to warp to the end, add cheats or even input the (compiled) code of a completely different game and play it. In SMB3, there is one possible in early World 7, and in SMW, there are multiple possible even in early game)
Dang I can't wait to see who picks this up to push it further! 2 minutes to shave to hit your "Best Possible" and even as a viewer I can see tons of places we could save time without even upping the difficulty. Great final throws though btw

just wanna point out that i received a promotional e-mail from nintendo about super mario bros. wonder that directly mentions daisy and yoshi as playable characters. so yeah, yoshi is a playable character quote from the e-mail: "Team up with up to three friends locally and gather around one Nintendo Switch console to tackle courses as a team. Choose from familiar characters including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi and Toad!"
Speaking of Yoshi in Mario Wonder. 1. I think he gets no normal powerups 2. I think the Elephant powerup is Mario exclusive and everyone has their own type of exclusive powerup. 3. Yoshi could easily get things like the stomp or fire breath or wings from World.
Ive speedrunned all 6 individually not all at once, along with many other games ive speedran, ive beaten 4 of these mario games easily in under an hour before.
Ryukar getting snubbed. He's not a typical speedrunner but he's easily the best Mario Maker 2 player hands down and he also got it done in record time despite minimal practice.
Having to do SM64 one star (or zero star) at the end of a 55 minute speedrun just seems brutal. Pure undiluted BLJs and Bower throws 45 minutes into a speedrun. Mario 64 definitely struck me as the game where the most time could be gained, at least if your run is typical of people doing this category. (Potential time gains that jumped out at me include...the potential of faster BLJs, the theoretical possibility of zero star, missing a cycle on the Bowser in the Fire Sea accordion, small movement optimisations).
Firstly, congrats; this is a wonderful world record using current strats. However, given the extreme time saves, why not implement the wrong warp in SMB3 and credits warp in SMW? Yes, I know they're difficult, but even one of them would completely shatter the current times. The first saves about 8 minutes and the second about 9 minutes. If someone was really serious about grinding and mastering this category, then combined with playing SMB64 a few minutes faster, and with your existing times for SMB, SMBLL, and SMB2 (all very good), the "Marihour" could be lowered to slightly over half an hour.
Smb3 wrong warp is extremely easy to do in ~3:45 or so. Haven't tried smw but I'm sure it's not bad. This run specifically doesn't use credits warps. The goal is to like, genuinely beat the games in an hour, not just trigger the credits

All of your completion times except for SM64 are very good. I was caught off guard by how many difficult strats you attempted and then pulled off in SMB2, SMB3, and SMW.

When darbian got WR, multiple people did it after him and still got like a few minutes slower then them he was a legend to say the least.
