- Spinnaker Fluess is this weeks watch review. A great value Dive watch less than $300. Featuring the Seiko NH35a movements and a nicely designed and executed case.
Henry Fleuss is widely regarded as the inventor of the first self-contained underwater breathing apparatus in 1878. The Fleuss series of vintage timepieces are inspired by the work of Fleuss and the intrepid early divers who helped develop the mechanics of under sea discover. This watch brings back the sprit of those early dive watches from the pioneering days

According to the makers website, the bezel is "hardened glass" not the acrylic mentioned in various reviews. Just bought one for £169 delivered, so hopefully that's the case.

You’re the first person that’s ever mentioned Roamer in the comments. I only know the brand from the film IP Man 2
@@CasualWatchReviews Really? Wow...they've got some history unlike these "micro brands". I've got one that still runs & keeps good time from the 1950's. The only issue is the very radioactive RADIUM compound lume, so it's kept in a sealed zip lock bag within a steel tin in the porch...poor thing. A fascinating topic in itself...
Have you seen IP Man films. They are loosely based on the gentleman who trained Bruce Lee. A Roamer billboard features heavily in the second film
That contrasting bronze colored bezel and accents is a really nice touch. Overall really classy design.
I like it actually, I think the steel would look just as nice.

Hi Daniel, the watch stops? It should last for at a while off the wrist, more than 24 hours. You may want to get that looked at by a watch maker?
If it was bought from new, it should still be under warranty, which is for 2 years? Any update would be appreciated ...

I have this without the gold trim. I really like it, but I had no intention of using that strap. I put it on a Barton’s Elite Silicone.
I ordered Black Dumas, looks like another winner.
Hey, I agree the strap is weird choice for a great watch. And if I had the choice again I would go with the straight steel bezel now I know that this one is not bronze! Dumas review coming in the week, thanks as always for watching and supporting what I do here!

Really like the design of some of the new Spinnaker watches; I only wish they covered a greater range of case sizes. The dimensions are simply to big for me personally. Great video
Hi Luke, you may like the Bradner its smaller, it is thicker but I don't mind it so much on a nato at its not light weight.

Oh really? well the bronze is more of a coating than anything I think would be effected by 'moisture, also the case itself it 316L stainless steel. I have that Dumas up next for review and I can't wait!

Hi J Rods. I very rarely get sent watches in for review as I'm by no means a major player yet in the watch review game. But spinnaker are one of the most generous companies to deal with not only in the watches they send for free but the way they deal with UA-camrs. I have spent hours on the phone with the MD of the spinanker brand. They want our feedback and yours. They send the watch in a simple packaging no 'rider' or fact sheet with things they want us to say. Its left to us to do the review and if we dont like it then thats the risk they take. Its a very risky marketing strategy but it shows they believe in their products.

I agree with your review. I do like Spinnaker's designs. I also like the way the lugs hang down - something that doesn't happen as often as it should in that price range. This is where Spinnaker perhaps needs to consider something -
Being less than 200m water resistant, this is not a genuine dive watch. It's more like a retro diver homage with patinated design cues for casual/sports wear. So I have to ask... does it really have to be that big? Wouldn't it be better to make something that is around 38-40mm, which would make it look like an older watch? A smaller size would be less obtrusive for casual wear under sleeves.
Full disclosure - I have skinny wrists - it's too big for me.
Hi Richard, I see your point there. Its funny as that AP offshore I reviewed at over 17k and looks like a dive watch (with exception of the leather band) was only the 100m water resistant.
In fact there is a legendary Rolex known as the COMEX watch. This was given to divers as part of there diving kit for the COMEX company. These were specialist divers that did engineering work under the sea. These watches are among the most valuable Submariners partly because they were actually used for commercial diving. These watches were only 200m. You can see one here bit.ly/2RiITYX but your right those rolex would look tiny next to this one. The Brander is actually a quite a bit smaller and I should be getting a Lorier soon for a review.

Wonder if the bronze colour coating will scratch?
I wondered that but I think its more like an electro plating. I have bashed it a few times and it seems ok. If your are concerned you can email them or the steel one looks just as good I think!

Just too much lume fore me. Lume pip is all that is required. What has happened to TVG? Archie put up a vlog saying he has had copyright strikes, you are a member of his facebook group right? Have you heard anything? No vlog for 3 weeks now?
Hi Anon, I did see Archie's video it was sent by a mate in Canada James (he has the Doxa I reviewed). You know my view on the direction he takes with some of his reviews as it regards sponsors. But I think he typically takes off January? I think I remember the same thing happening last year. I actually hardly watch his channel any more except the odd one. If that is the case that he got a copyright strike then I think a lot of us should be worried. Especially that other brit with the exceptionally posh accent who's channel is just pictures from the internet for the most part.
I credit most of my stuff now but its hard to get permission from the person in advance. I try and use shots from the 'press room' that most of the big brands have on their websites and then just credit the rest. When your having to churn out content like he has then I bet that becomes impossible. But it should be credited so your advertising the website. I also get a lot of pictured of viewer's watches so thanks everyone for that!

Haven't the foggiest just curious thought it strange that UA-cam would be going after a watch channel hardly the most controversial subject on here! Copyright is a strange one to me if someone creates a vlog with someone else's music/images well isn't it something they created its not as if the songwriter invented words they are all in the dictionary and same goes for photo's for me once you put them online in the public domain for me they are fair game.
Yes or if your taking a picture of a watch is that Rolex who should really have the copyright. But you cant really copyright a design really but you can the photo... I agree its weird!
