I have not watched the video but I am going to say this did not go under the radar. It was literally in the top 10 most trending anime every dingle day while it was airing.
It's because the main character somehow has the weakest looking face of all time regardless of being absurdly strong. Also, it's a reiteration of the four previous iterations of the same concept.
true, this anime is so cliched, the ideas are sooo overused, I literally had to cut, half of the dumb chliches i noticed cause it made the video so long, and through the entire anime I was just predicting things that would happen, episodes before they happened. the thing is though, in combination with how "slow" this year has been, and this anime just looking really damn nice, I found it entertaining, and honestly I feel like other anime that were more cliched and had less good qualities got so much more people talking.
@@M1zeri I agree. This last season has been far from spectacular. The anime I was most looking forward to, Tower of God season 2, has bad animation. it does seem to follow the manhwa fairly well at least. Nothing else has been worth watching in my opinion. I started watching anime because western movies and shows had become extremely stale, but now I feel like I'm watching the same thing happen to anime.
@@eyesyt7571 im expecting things to start picking up soon anime wise, lots of big hitters with some promising looking production quality coming, but I definitely understand your pain. I was really excited for s2 of tower of god too, and just as i was about to catch up I heard that the animation wasnt great.
It may not have been the biggest here in the west, but it has done pretty well in Japan sometimes getting One Piece numbers in the ratings Funny you mentioned it looks like black clover flashbacks since this show is directed by the same director as Black Clover. And the Manga this is based on is by the author of Danmachi
@@lukasmunzenmayer7489 oh nice, s2 announcement already. I heard some other people say the same thing about the story still basically being in the prologue, im excited to see whats coming
And anime doesn’t have to be “new” or “groundbreaking” to be good. I love the art and I love the story. Cliches are cliches because they work. And wistoria knows how to work them.
Well said, i said it in my alya video, but gimmicks aren’t inherently bad, its just that alot of anime and manga don’t capitalize or use them well, the anime people dont like due to cliches typically just throw in a bunch of cliches and dont now how to make it entertaining
Looking at demon slayer and comparing it to that, we can say the story, clishes and the generic shonen aspects aren't the issue. It was simply too short and it wasn't advertised well.
Dude the manga is actually pretty peak. Spoilers below for the manga up to the latest chapter at time of writing (like 45?) I read the manga back when it only had like 20ish chapters maybe, and I thought it was pretty ok. Pretty generic Mashle "I'm not like the other kids" type reject story. Low and behold I pick it up to read to chapter 40 or so, and he it's actually peak. Literally everything at the academy is the FUCKIN PROLOUGE DUDE. Like the author is genuinely cooking. The FMC (ice chick) is actually relevant rather than just staying up in the tower (well more relevant than the usual "MC chases after childhood friend prodigy, but she ignores him the whole series and he falls in love eventually with one of the other characters" type character). The earth chick I feel like is pretty irrelevant, and I feel like if she was just his friend instead their dynamic would just be more interesting and better overall. Hoping to see her develop if the series continues. The MC's backstory is looking pretty mysterious and serious, and I'm genuinely enjoying it (I definitely think Mercedes is MC's mom and the magic engineering friend that gets "killed" during the festival is the dad bc you can see him alive and overlooking MC when he goes up to the high mage place, and he's really invested in the MC, like more than just some friend.) I normally don't watch the anime of manga that I've read once they come out (Undead Unluck, Frieren (I'm sorry) Mashle, Mushoku Tensei, etc. Don't get me wrong, those anime and manga are good, it's just that I don't have too much time to watch, and manga is more convenient to pick up and put down for me.) But honestly I think Wistoria inspired me to give these newer anime a shot (even if I'm caught up with the manga). As long as the author doesn't majorly fumble (praying rn) this is a solid story with enough of a twist on the kinda generic premise to make it interesting. Obviously not the greatest thing ever, but I've read and watched damn near anything I'm grasping at straws please author I'm sick and tired of dogshit isekai and cultivation manhua please
Lowkey, i 100% got the vibes that this is the direction the story would take, I honestly think it sounds great, a fun show to just kick back relax and enjoy
Ok more spoilers but I genuinely have a question as a manga reader. So at the time I’m making this comment, Julius died. I agree that the mangaka is cooking, but if Julius is dead I feel like that’s wasted potential. Idk if that’s just me though. What do you think? I genuinely need someone to ask about this bc I’m so close to dropping the manga if it’s just gonna be a “kill characters to seem edgy and for no other reason” kind of deal.
@@Myrtilos_Waffle yeah, i mean I havent read the manga and i dont know every detail of whats happening so my guess is pretty much a shot in the dark. But i doubt that the mangaka is doing “that” just for the sake of it, he seems to have alot of things planned out, atleast the rough structure, cause as an anime only, im seeing alot of very small things that are very obviously setting up things that i now know do eventually happen in the manga. I would find it weird/off putting if the mangaka randomly pulled something out of left field like that for no reason
@@Myrtilos_Waffle theory time nah I don't think he's actually dead. Will was about to say something to console Collette when she was crying about his death, remember? I don't think he's actually dead. That along with the fact that when the teacher died, Finn told Will that Workner would live because of "his heartbeat" or something even though bro litterally had a hole in his chest. So I think Julius is still alive personally.
@@M1zeri 10/10 anime in my opinion I loved everything about it, from the plot to the animation I’m so happy that there will probably be a second season to this show
no you where right, the animation did fall off. the amount of still frames that I saw near the end were... too many. but ya know what I didn't go further then ep 8 and read the manga which had amazing art
The animation is good really loved it, but the story just feels boring for now I suppose? Personally from my perspective, it didn't really had a strong or interesting plot to hook onto audiences, compared to other anime. The stories are different but I would just recommend watching black clover instead. But Im guessing it just takes a longer time for the plot to kick in.
I personally enjoyed black clover, but alot of people have a lot of issues with black clover, this anime is just made in a much more modern style, i wont deny the story is mid, but i feel like its just good enough that you can bare with it because you wanna watch for the animation. The story is definitely average, it has no hook rather it used its production quality as its hook.
Yeah, its p much the most copy paste story u can get, though i still found it entertaining purely for its decent execution of the same tropes and the beautiful production

Yeah people definitely did watch it but no one was talking bout it, also its Top 10 trending in a season with like 10 good shows imo
This anime probably has the best camera angles and movements for fight sequences
It does have some nice camera choreography, and man the the way they do reflections and light looks so cool too
there's something to be said about a simple dish well made
A good mac and cheese can be a damn good meal
Sometimes a simple refined meal is better than a complex meal being cooked for the first time.
Yep well said
