Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition (Japanese: ハイパーストリートファイターII -The Anniversary Edition-) is a fighting game by Capcom that was originally released for the arcade and PlayStation 2 in 2003 in Japan and in 2004 in North America and Asia. Released to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Street Fighter series, Hyper Street Fighter II is a modified port of Super Street Fighter II Turbo in which players can control any versions of the main characters from the five Street Fighter II games previously released for arcade. Although originally released as a home console game, an arcade port was released shortly afterwards in limited quantities, turning it into the sixth arcade iteration. This game is also the last to use the CP System II.

That's because the "Normal" or "World Warrior" characters have a "weakness" special move. If you get hit out of it, it's basically like a critical hit. Very noticeable when you hit Blanka out of a Blanka Ball with a heavy attack or special move. Desk did a video on this that explains and illustrates it in great detail.

@abdulqudz89 That's one of many reasons why World Warrior isn't tournament viable and why the "vulnerable special move" feature was discontinued from Champion Edition onward.
When in doubt, play Hyper Fighting and Super Turbo. Two of the best and most balanced fighting games ever made!

But, yeah...if you Blanka Ball, you better combo into it. It loses to the first hitting frame of Dragon Punches in a 50% damage kind of way.

I could have sworn that Blanka roared when he rolled in the original. Also, the double damage that he used to take on the Blanka Ball only seems to apply against Sagat and Akuma. Weird!
Well, this is "Hyper SF 2," and not the OG SF2, where I know for a fact that Blanka roared when he did his ball attack 🤔

@lordjimbo2 Watch the fights against Fei Long, Ryu, Ken, and Balrog (Boxer). You'll spot a few times that Blanka took double damage for getting hit out of a Blanka Ball.

@@DRACOFURY That's because he's playing as World Warrior Blanka. Who takes massive damage when he's hit doing the cannonball. So Akuma makes it even worse. Even a normal character takes 1/3 of Blanka's life.

CPU Akuma can do 50% damage when he fully connects a deep HP Shoryuken. From there, see my explanation near the top of the video. **NEVER** throw out a random Blanka Ball against the CPU. Critical damage gets added when he gets knocked out of that move. Plus...let's face it, sometimes the CPU has seen enough of you not losing any rounds.
