I have a 2008 mercury mariner, it idles fine when in park. When you change to reverse or drive it either acts like it wants to stall unless you release the break or it does stall if you keep holding the brake. When you stop at a light or sign it does the same. It also acts like it wants to cut out when you stop before puttint it in park. Otherwise it runs and drives fine. Other than its running at a much higher speed when not pressing the gas. Could it be the IACV?

Hi, If you're experiencing a low idle issue in your Nissan, model years 1999 to 2003, with no engine lights or diagnostic codes, it's likely related to the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve. This valve helps regulate the engine's idle speed by controlling air bypassing the throttle when idling. A malfunction or blockage in the IAC valve due to carbon deposits can cause low idle speeds, around 500 to 600 RPM. To address this, you might start by cleaning the IAC valve and checking for any vacuum leaks in the system, as these can also lead to similar symptoms. Additionally, inspect and clean the throttle body and ensure the engine’s air intake system, including the air filter and intake hoses, is clear. If these steps don't resolve the issue, it would be wise to consult a professional mechanic who can perform a more comprehensive diagnostic check using specialized equipment.
