    When I am doing a longer fast I dilute 1 packet of flavored LMNT into three 1 LITER bottles of spring water.
    So far I like Raspberry, Watermelon, & Orange flavors best. Disliked Mango Chili, Chocolate not my favorite, but pretty good in coffee. Plain is a safe bet. They also share the recipe on their website to make your own plain electrolyte mix. I’ve done that. Huge savings and works nicely. I added some powdered organic Lemon (single ingredient, used like a spice), and some monkfruit for a little sweetness. However, the little packets are great on the go. Definitely DILUTE, one packet is way too concentrated for just one bottle of water.

    Thanks for the review. I'll wait to try the flav city (bobby) instead when it comes back in stock. It has more potassium and magnesium and it isnt made with questionable ingredients.

    Thanks for the info. I've been interested in trying new electrolyte drinks for a while now. Here's a totally off-topic question. Your T-shirt really fits you well. Andrew Huberman spoke about LMNT. As an intermittent faster, I'd love to try this. This morning I took a teaspoon of sea salt that I purchased from a health food store in Canada. I have to say, I felt no hunger during my fast from taking sea salt. In the past month, I lost 18 pounds from intermittent fasting with a low-carb, high-protein, high fat and high in fibre diet. I cut out the sugar and juice. Never felt better. In the morning I have been feeling a little brain foggyish, but that changed when I drank the sea salt in the water. I was wondering if it will do anything to my blood pressure. My pulse went from 90 to 55. Only good things can happen from here.

      LMNT is overpriced garbage.
      One drink pouch gives nothing but a whopping rda 43% of cheap sodium chloride. They aren't even using a trace mineral sea salt. Plus a lousy rda 4% of potassium chloride & 15% magnesium malate.
      You can buy an 8lb bag of Ancient Minerals chloride mag flakes and a bag of light dead sea salts to last 2 years for the price of one LMNT 30 pack.
      You can also buy a 100% rda supplement of mag malate for around $6 a month
      Plus, the lite salt only gives 8% sodium, yet 6% potassium in 1/8th of a tsp. Add a few mag flakes, hide them in all your beverages & you end up with a much healthier ratio.
      If anyone needs more sodium, they can add cheap sodium anyone can buy for $3 a pound.
      It's insulting pushing a product with a lousy 4% potassium or 15% mag for over $1 a pop when so many people can be low on these necessary components.

      It’s NOT very salty tasting. The watermelon 🍉 is my favorite. But I’m experiencing swelling in the legs 🦵 after consuming this. I did have two packs and a gallon of water that day. Haven’t used it since and still swollen.

    Am I missing something here? The main ingredient seems to be sodium chloride (table salt), priced at an astounding $1.50 per 6 grams. You can buy a container of table salt for a dollar, and you get 26 oz (787 grams). The LMNT sodium chloride costs 192 times the cost of the supermarket brand. I know there's potassium and magnesium and the nice little package, but overall it seems to be grossly overpriced. No one brings this up?

    • @FitnessFinance4u
      @FitnessFinance4u  8 місяців тому +1

      I get it...it's not cheap. But you do have to consider how much time, money and work you would have to put into making your own electrolyte drink. It's not as easy as it sounds and I'm sure LMNT put a lot of time and money into research in order to get the right mix. That being said, you can make them on your own at home. Here's an article from Popular Science that might help. www.popsci.com/diy/homemade-electrolyte-drink/

    You made a miatake in your comparison: irt says 200 mg of potassium not 2000. And simply 200 mg is way too little when they say you need about 4700 mg of potassium. You get more in a single banana of potassium than in one packet. Just putting a pinch of seat salt and mix it with soem water and you get more of everything than from elmt.

    On my second day of LMNT. Loved the Citrus and Raspberry Salt so far. There is the lack of broad nutrients in LMNT (1,000mg Sodium, Potassium 200mg Magnesium 60mg) compared to Dr. Berg which has the following micros:
    Calcium 75mg
    Magnesium 120mg
    Sodium 40mg
    Potassium 1,000mg
    Chloride 60mg
    I wonder why they chose the micros they did and which one is better optimization for replenishing hydration. I can attest after only a few trials with LMNT that I feel a "jolt" of energy after taking my first several gulps. It does definitely taste better than Dr. Berg, but it's also wildly more expensive at $1.12/serving compared to a $0.34/serving with Dr. Berg. The packets are still cheaper with Dr. Berg at $0.96/serving.
    If LMNT comes out with a cheaper option via tub and scoop, I'd be 100% sold. I'm not sure if I can justify a long term purchase with my current budget just for the much better flavor. Dr. Berg's flavor isn't bad btw.

    • @FitnessFinance4u
      @FitnessFinance4u  11 місяців тому +1

      @ThatCho, I think if you like Dr. Berg’s product and if it’s within budget, just stick with it. However, I would do a “deep dive” to see where his products are made and find out the verified quality of his ingredients. I used to use the raspberry/lemon electrolyte powder, and I liked it. I remember that the powder used to harden and coagulate after a while and I’d have to scrape it with a knife to get it out. Maybe they fixed that? I like the science behind LMNT, it’s simple ingredients, as well as the fact that it is the “official hydration partner of USA weightlifting”. It does give me confidence in the ingredients even though it’s not NSF Certified For Sport.

    • @ThatCho
      @ThatCho 11 місяців тому

      @@FitnessFinance4u so I’ve only noticed the hardening thing once with Dr Berg. It was when I put ice in my cup and drove to work before adding water. I don’t know why I did this but anyway, the powder hardened. I’ll do some research on the ingredient quality.
      Thanks for the info!

    i love LMNT. They raised their prices by five dollars a box of the past month or so. Really? How much can it cost to produce that stuff? They are raking it in because gobs of people are buying it. I'm assuming they aren't finished raising the price.

      I'm a fan too. I am bummed about the price increase, but I also understand there is inflation, and they have a hot product, so they might need to try to capitalize while they can.

    You sound like a salt virgin 😂. I used to eat salt as a child for the heck of it so definitely a craving/need I have. I drank it in 16 oz of water the first time but have had it in 8 oz in a pinch and still love it. Actually could drink it all day long but thinking that would probably over do it. I like the citrus salt and tried watermelon, raspberry, and one other I don't remember but I think I will go with the unflavored. Not a fan of ''natural flavors' since that includes things I would not eat on a dinner plate....just research castoreum! 🤢 Anyway, good review, stay salty!! :)

    Hang on.. this isn't how diet and medicine works. Just because this high sodium diet worked for this one guy means absolutely nothing for anyone else. Every person alive has a different diet, different genetic make up, different combination of medicines or vitamines they may or may not take regularly, and whatever dietary choices we're making must be in alignment with these factors. Suddenly adding a really high salt item to your diet is a horrid idea unless you have a good reason to do so, like you suddenly start doing incredibly intense exercise regularly, or get advised to do so by a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL.
