Always a treat to look in at 911 Virgin and to listen to you enthuse about a car , or in this case a project. Lovely colour , and looking forward to seeing the finished product. Having visited the workshop these videos are a nice way of popping back , without the long drive from Porto. Best wishes to all at Cherrytree Lane.
Thanks for the kind words. We were talking about the colour the other day. At the time not everyone's first choice but now quite attractive. The wheels were colour coded which I've never been a fan of, now they are all silver.
i reckon we will see it out on the road .. after the winter? looking forward to the next one! really interested to see the journey. love the path taken on the restoration. i'm guessing it is going to be a Porsche apple/android player with the mini-display, and maybe a set of bluetooth speakers hidden somewhere in the car (as a reversible mod so to speak). just my guess.. haha. cheers everyone.
Not quite right when it comes to Porsche spare parts and saying everything is still available. Try to get 964 Speedster parts like doors, front screen frame, soft top parts just to name a few. But in general it’s correct and Porsche Classic is trying hard to keep these beauties on the road. It’s part of the reason why I love this brand so much👍
I can't think of a marque that supports parts for it's legacy cars anything like as well. There are some brands that don't even come come close with their current cars! Yes, there are a few gaps and that's where specialist companies step in.
Hi Henry, great to follow the buildup of the RS. As a long term owner of an Indian Red RS, I decided to take off the front brake cooling ducts a previous owner had fitted. The standard car had dummy clear lens. I’ve reverted back to standard buying the original Porsche lens. Will you do this on your? I see you have the aftermarket brake cooling ducts that I took off. Thanks again for the content, it’s really great. Regards Warren
The 964 suspension for sure wasn't free of critic in its original setting, so I guess you could to some enhancements there. I would have taken original struts and let them be set up to better specs (Cup for example). It's a wonderful car and its just up to the owner to decide those details.
This isn't intended as a track car. I've got a couple of GT3 cup cars if I want to do track work. It's funny, when I first got this car I thought it was the stiffest car on the planet. Then I started racing the Cup cars and discovered what stiff really is. In comparison the 964 is quite soft and forgiving - compared to a newer pure factory race car running slicks etc. But I don't want the twitchiness of an über stiff car for road driving. I've still got to decide on tyres which will have a significant bearing on how the thing drives.
No we haven't set a date but it won't take that long. Now its in their workshop the guys won't let it hand around for ever. I think we'll have it on the road in the spring.
Excellent update. Personally like you I prefer keeping it as original as common sense dictates. Updated and upgraded brake pipes which obviously veering from original is a far better choice and won’t commercially detract from the cars value. We all know all 911’s are noisy so given you have new door cards I would consider installing better and more modern sound proofing behind those aswell as some of the rear panels whilst they’re out. There are companies that do this as part of an infotainment installation but I’m sure your guys can look it up and perhaps do it. The end result is two fold, better acoustics inside the cabin, you’ll still hear the glorious engine but also a huge step up in how the infotainment system you installed will sound, believe me with better sound proofing the results are quite dramatic.
I'm not looking to build an audiophile's 964 RS. The car's the star here, I just want to be able to hear Waze so I know where I'm going, maybe play a bit of music on longer journeys and take phone calls. We are changing the engine sound proofing with factory original just because it deteriorates with age and with the engine out it would be rude not to.
@@911virgin8 with the greatest respect that’s not what was being proposed 🙄. All of what I suggested would greatly support your audio desires regarding being able to hear Waze in the first place, better enjoy music on long journeys. It’s not about totally insulating the cabin from the engine at all rather reducing the excessive background noise transmitted through the car doors and side panels. Makes sense to renew the original engine sound proofing not that it was particularly effective but that’s what gives it character 🤔🤔😄
Hopefully I sit in there and it reminds me of how great I thought the 964 RS was when I bought it all those years ago. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since. In fact I hope I can still get in with my creaky old body !!!

Yes, that's the head unit I think we'll be going with. The speakers will be hard wired rather than bluetooth, just discretely fitted.
I can’t wait to see this RS finished, can you please have an officially finished celebration party at your garage ? 🤞
An interesting idea. You'll certainly see it out and about, maybe at one of the Fairmile Porsche gatherings, Cobham.
Lovely Colour and paint Job ,
Thanks

I think I will keep the brake ducts as they are.
Looks good to me 👍🍺
Thanks

Really nice video. Is the car Amazon Green? Can’t really tell for sure. In any case, lovely car!
Thanks. Yes, it's Amazon green metallic.
Henry when can we expect an update on the 964rs? It has been an age since we saw that beauty
Sorry I took the piss
If you look carefully you can just see it in the background next to the Supersport Cabriolet.....
Have you set yourself a date for completing it? Without a date to aim for it could drift aong for another 10 years. 😮
