  • After some research I tried Carpro Leather cquartz 2.0 on my Tesla model Y. I applied it to the steering wheel, dash, doors, seats, and centre console for UV protection. The leather did turn slightly darker. I was really impressed and the leather felt a little more slippery in a good way, but not greasy at all. Carpro Leather cquartz 2.0 was easy to apply and definitely a good thing for the do it yourselfers to try. Highly recommended.

      You can try on fabric and see how it looks, try in a small area first that no one sees, just in case it does not work out....... you never know. Its good on leather, but on fabric I think it would work as the microfibre cloths are now waterproof haha

      Thanks soo much !!! Glad you caught the steering wheel ceramic coat !! They didn't have this years ago. Now I think all new cars should get it !!! I love the new Tesla, very good decision to buy. The corvette is very different, its loud, and faster than the Model Y, but the car is very different. For Saturday night fun I like the Corvette. For daily driver to work I like the Tesla :)

    Glad I found this video. just got my interior ceramic coated but noticed there was a lot of missed spots on my seats after it dried up. should i go back and reapply the coating and will it be noticeable from the last time i coated it

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  Рік тому

      Hey there, yup go back and do it. Do the whole seat again, it won't hurt it and it will blend all the spots so it will look good. If you don't have enough to do the whole seat then give the spots a good buffing. I find they can actually some out. This happened to me on the doors (there was one spot and I was worried) so I just buffed it again and it came out. I did this in the summer and its still holding up well !!!

    Thanks for posting this, all the others that I've seen only show covering the seats. I want to put it on my dash & doors like you did, have you noticed any changes or negatives with those plastics or vinyl (or whatever material it's made of lol)?

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 роки тому +1

      Hey there and thanks for the comment. I noticed that it darkens everything, but not by much. So if you did 1/2 door panel you would notice where you stopped, but if you do the whole door panel you would never know. I really am happy that I did it, and its a whole lot better than any leather conditioner that I have used, plus it does not have to be reapplied and its suppose to last for a quite sometime. My steering wheel feels more slippery, in a good way, it will repel sweat. Any dirt on the doors wipes off very easy. I think everyone should put this on their steering wheel as that gets the most wear. I actually have a 2019 Corvette Z06 that I bought new. I rarely drive the car, and did the ceramic coat on it as well as I was so happy with the results. if you have any other questions just let me know. Soon I will be posting the PPF that I put on the Tesla headlights. I recommend that as well as its got the UV protector in it. So I'm hoping it will prevent any yellowing of the headlights over time, plus it prevents small rock chips in them.

      @@GarageKing thanks!! I'm hoping it will protect the arm rests and area by the window from my wife's array of cream and sunscreen lol.
      I did ppf on the headlights a couple of weeks ago. Also did ppf on the very front of the hood. First time trying and it turned out pretty good. I still have the bumper ppf but no time yet. The headlight film I got from weathertech and fitment on one edge wasn't great. The film should've been cut a little more so both sides would lay flat. I tried to cut it a bit but it's not perfect. It went on a '22 pathfinder, if you look at a pic of the front it's where the headlights have a sharp angle about half way up on the inside by the grille. The rest of the film I got from xpel and I'm very pleased with their measurements

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 роки тому

      @@reddsvids Thanks for the comment. Yes I was thinking like you. I wanted to protect the door and centre arm rests from arms, and that big flat dash from the sun. I did the Xpel on the front headlights and it looks awesome. It went on good and it covers to the corners. I was very pleased. I'm going to do the front bumper but I have not ordered the kit yet. I'm really glad I did the headlights (I also did the door sills on my corvette) so I could get use to using the stuff. It does take a bit to get use to it. Plus with the front bumper we are going to need tack solution as well as slip solution. I just used the xpel gel as slip solution and really liked it. Thanks for the follow up :)

    I do have a ceramic coating bottle for the outside paint protector can i use the same bottle for the leather inside?

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  8 місяців тому

      Ohhh, I'm not sure, I would not as maybe it could dry shiny and then flake off or something. You could try a really small area near the bottom of the seat and see what happens? This way if it does not work out no one will see. The ceramic coat that I used was made for leather so I didn't worry. If you have one of those cheap ceramic coat bottles you never know how they are going to perform.

      Hey there and thanks for the comment. So far I haven't had to clean anything. The leather just seems to stay clean. My steering wheel still feels great. I would say if you have to wipe something off just use a damp cloth.

    • @GarageKing

      You never know, you know when I was buffing off the leather I kept the fabric microfibre cloth and its still soft today. You would never know I used it for buffing. I'll have to throw it out as it repels water and washing it can't remove the ceramic coat !!! I'm not sure how you could apply it to fabric, but it would probably keep fabric looking like new and when you head to the beach who cares about water in the car, it will all just wipe away !!

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 роки тому

      All questions welcome here. Humm, that's a good question. I think you could but you would not be able to be as liberal with it. I would do one coat on all 4 seats. Then with the extra I would do the second coat on the front seats and see if you have enough for the rear.

    • @carcarerijen
      @carcarerijen 2 роки тому

      @@GarageKing hmm ok, yeah its more for clients i have. if they say 2 applications i need to do 2. But Carpro dont tell how many seats i can cover. thanks

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 роки тому

      @@carcarerijen Ya, I think they don't tell that as there are too many variables. Its not like ceramic coat on paint where you kind of put it on. For the leather you can really slather it on, or put it on light. I do think with the 30 you can do 4 seats, but the second coat may be lighter. Also the microfiber that you use does not have to be constantly turned, you can let is get a little saturated, then get a new one, and use the first one that is saturated to help level the coat. It does not get hard like paint stuff. The microfibre town I used was still soft the next say. It just would not absorb any water.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  Рік тому

      Hi There, no go on that, and you know it probably would work as the microfibre cloths stayed soft when they dried, so I think it would work but I can't guarantee it. You are probably safer (with alcantara or fabric) to use Carpro Fabric.
