I just did the bed plate job and removed the heads and timing cover. I found every part available within a few days from LA, this was about 3 months ago. The only part that is now back ordered at this time is the main bearing cap bolts I forget which one but its 10 of them total. I was able to get the last ones available in the country.
@ Glad to hear you had better luck with parts. When I did this a little over a year ago most of the bolts and timing cover gaskets were either not available or special order from germany. I assumed they were phasing out support for the platform so its great to hear otherwise
Nice video! Though I would not use power tool to screw in critical parts like the cam sprocket holding screw. And when installing the front cover I'd put the front facing bolts very loosely before torquing those that pull the cover towards the heads, so that the cover goes tightly against the heads.
I only used the electric ratchet to get the bolt in, not tightened. Used a torque wrench after with the correct spec, did the same at 9:27 for the front cover. Backed off with the power tools as I felt it was getting closer. 10k miles later, no leaks
Such an impressive series!! Looking forward to the next part⚙️
thank you!
One thing I love about repairing the M156 is the parts availability. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
