This was so EPIC! This performance was unreal and I love checking out KISS! What is next from them?
The very early days when they were playing in clubs, they had a few guys standing around the drum riser and a rope and pulley type of device and during the end of that song these guys would each be pulling these ropes raising, I wouldn't call it 'levitating' lol, the drums which were kinda shaky on the way both up and down since they had no way of knowing what was actually going on so it wasn't synchronized at all. The funniest part was when they approached the very low ceiling, it was a small club in a hotel remember, called a club because it had tables, chairs and of course alcohol, LoL, Pete would have to duck down lower and lower while still performing or trying to, LoL 😆
Hadda Live that!!!
"Guys... GUYS!!! HEYYY!!!
Not the only time they had a malfunction though, Gene would have a harness hooked to his costume that when pulled would lift him up into the lights and deposit him on a platform where he would sing God of Thunder... Hopefully, LoL. One night the cable tangled in the winch device like they sometimes do and stopped 3/4 of the way up. He motioned down, then DOWN!!! So they started to lower it but it again hung up about 6' lower most definitely NOT a happy Demon. Close ups showed the look of intense fear in his face. Eventually, they did get him all the way up and on the platform though. I don't think he HAS to take the cables back down. If so, nor after that night I'd bet. Check UA-cam for the clip. It's on there. Nobody misses anything these days.
You should do ‘I still love you’ KISS MTV unplugged the music is awesome but Paul is the standout in this performance. His voice is jaw dropping in it.
gets really good when they bring out the original members
Kiss was a huge inspiration for Rammstein, who, because they were on the Soviet side of the Berlin Wall, could access their music via bootleg recordings and when they were able to surreptitiously listen to forbidden western radio. They loved the music and the theatrical performances. Years later, Rammstein supported Kiss on their 1999 Latin American tour, and the rest is history. Today, Rammstein has gained a worldwide fan base through their unrivaled musicianship and insane live performances. Thank you, Kiss! ❤
Gene Simmons...Gibson Grabber bass.
You can't go wrong with ANY 70's era live KISS performances.
Truth
Agreed
With you being a drummer, I think you would really appreciate 100,000 Years.
1000% cobo hall performance is a MUST watch and let me go rock and roll!
Hard Luck Woman...Peter sings it and it's a great song, one of my favorites
Also, "Baby Driver " for more Peter Chris Vocals
Strange ways
HLW was originally written for Rod Stewart but they decided to keep it 😆 Nice ! Way to go. And having it sung by Criss, you can almost hear what the song would have been if sung by Stewart 😄
Peter Criss was frickin amazing and fantastic and the best!!!
A lot of people make fun of KISS now a days, but just imagine seeing this in person in the mid 70's. It's was a completely mind blowing show.
I did. Mind blowing is an understatement!
Absolutely!
What I love about these old live videos is that they disprove Paul’s and Gene’s contention that Peter couldn’t play. Peter was excellent. Sure, his demons overcame him, but you can’t deny the original foursome created genuine magic. Glad you’re discovering them!
Peter Criss--"Nothin' to Lose". Great vocals
He also famously sang their biggest selling song, the original rock ballad, Beth.
Imagine seeing this as a 10-year-old boy mouth wide open bug-eyed holy s*** I couldn't believe what I was witnessing
I was born 1966 started liking kiss Halloween night 1976. I can't stand hearing Paul and Gene saying this is the best kiss has been. BULLS___. 70S KISS IS UNBELIEVABLE BRO. FROM MUSIC TO PERFORMANCE 👍👍👍👍👍👍
So glad you're experiencing the greatest band that ever set foot on stage
You didn't see KISS, you experienced the show. They were my first concert Dec 2 1976 at the Mid South Collesium in Memphis.
Hell yeah 🤘
They were my first show too! August of 1979, mid south coliseum, memphis tennessee :)
@@JeffMitchell-lv4zx I wouldn't go see the other years without Peter and Ace, there's nothing else like the originals 🤘✌️
My first concert too! December 2009!
September 6, 1976 here in Toronto!
God of Thunder; Love Gun; Hotter than Hell; Strutter; Deuce; Cold Gin; Do You Love Me?; Firehouse; Rock Bottom; Let Me go, Rock N' Roll - That'll keep you busy for a while. Oh, there's more.
Waaaaayyyyyy more!!!!!!👍
Best live rock band EVER. Period! Come fight me about it, haters!!!
I’ve always loved Peter Criss’s voice on this tune. He was a good sound for that band.
Black diamond, one of my favorite KISS songs of all time. Especially the live performances
“100,000 years” is a great one too. But if u haven’t yet. Please react to KISS unplugged performance of “I still love you”. It will blow ur mind.
Second that, gotta do the Unplugged performance of "I Still Love You" to hear Paul at his vocal peak!
And suddenly, hundereds of thousands of Kiss fans were born, after seeing this performance! Check out them performing "Firehouse ", on The Mike Douglas Show, from around this time period. It's TV, it's raw, and it's Live! Pretty cool..
So cool to see someone discovering what we knew all along! The hottest band in the world...KISS!!!
Got Nothin to Lose-Peter Criss!
❤Kiss and Peter Cris bringing down the house in the 70's! He had a great voice and I don't care what anybody says, he could rock the drum set! 🤘
This is what all us kids back in the early to mid 70's fell in love with. My bedroom was lined with KISS posters and I had their music blasting in my room driving my family crazy all the time.
Cool! I Had Posters All Aroubd Our Room. Still Have Them All. Go to kiss postes ..🙂
Same, I hear you and I feel you
Kiss of '70's are fantastic rock-metal band🤘
Easily one of their best songs ever…this whole performance was magic
💯 Absolutely amazing! Thanks for watching!
My intro to rock, "Black Diamond" - KISS, "Whole Lotta Love" - Zeppelin and "Black Sabbath" - Sabbath. At age 9. The day that blew my mind. 56 years ago. Been a headbanger since. KISS, ZEP and Sabbath! Can't get any better introduction than metal than that.
Honestly I love all eras of Kiss, but the special thing about them is how they pursued a lot of different sounds throughout their 50 year legacy. Definitely need to check out their music chronologically!
Dirty Livin is my favorite Kiss song and is on the Dynasty record
Peter had the best Whisky smoker scream. KISS was killing it here!!!! Love the reaction!!
First time I’m experiencing the real Kiss too! Awesome
I love Gene's classic bass slides in this song and "She"!
Yes! So cool! 🔥
Absolutely in their Prime, hungry, looking to be the best they could and they were young!
Strange Ways is probably my favorite Peter song.
Me too.
Strange Ways Killer Song!!
70’s Kiss is the best
At the end of the song you can see how much of an impact The Who had on early KISS. Kicking off the drum set and smashing the guitar was their trademark.
Yesssss! That was EPIC! 🔥
And Paul doing Pete's "windmill" move with his arm.
The drum kit was brand new. Bill Aucion mentioned it in an interview. Money was still tight at this point and nobody was amused that Peter destroyed his drum kit.
Yes you’ve got to hear and listen to 100,000 years if you’re the drummer that you are he has a drum solo in there that is absolutely amazing
Nothing like 70s era KISS, of course every band that came from the 70s were at their best.
Pete always had the most metal voice. Loved his rasp! Sounds like thrash metal from the 80's!
KISS #1
Each Kiss member had a solo album… Gotta check them out! Peter Criss was my favorite member I was 10 when Kiss hit the scene! And became a life long fan!
Amazing song - amazing band! I will miss going to KISS concerts :( Yes, all the original members sang well.
KISS in the 70’s sounded better than all the other years they performed.
Peter Criss was an old school jazz bebop, swing schooled drummer. Google the photo from the 60s of Peter Criss, Gene Kruppa, and Jerry Nolan (other notable 70s drummer) all standing together. Epic photo!
1975 I was 12 lmfao my friend had the Alive LP and we rocked it in his basement.
Cris never got the respect he should... guys rock solid...
Other songs that Peter sang lead on: shared lead on Nothing To Lose; Mainline; Strange Ways; Getaway; Beth; Hard Luck Woman; Baby Driver; Hooligan; Dirty Livin'.
all bangers!!!
@@jamgee4402 I have no idea what a "banger" is.
(Yes, I am old.)
@@willhorting5317 great song!
@@jamgee4402 oh, ok. Hahaha
@@willhorting5317 Short for headbanger.
Rock Bottom is an excellent 70s Kiss track. Even the Unplugged version
You need to see Gene sing God of Thunder “Live”
the MTV unplugged COUNTRY-version too which proves Gene Simmons is god lol...
When you hear the harmonies, yeah they can and did. Peter had a real gravelly sound. Loved his voice. Baby Driver is a good one to listen to from an album called Rock n' Roll Over. Peter sings lead on that.
I believe that is my favorite album from the '70s! Rock and roll over had the best guitar riffs.
I don't know, it's a toss-up between love gun and rock and roll over.
KISS from '75 to '78 ROCKED their live performances! Especially with Ace's "smoking" guitar solos! Check out Cold Gin from their 1977 Tokyo Japan video!!!
As far as I know, Peter Criss himself played drums on the song “Dirty Livin” on the album Dynasty !
Peter Criss saved KISS with Beth, a ballad he wrote and sung on that made them megastar when previously they had a good reputation as a great live band but their albums didn't sell.
Nothing to lose - best Peter Criss
Another great vid of Peter singing live is "Hooligan" live in Houston '77. He has a badass voice, and he kills it on this clip. Great reactions!
Sweet! Gotta check that out! Really appreciate it!
I'm just sittin' here, smilin'!
I seen this tv show! It was So Awesome! Everyone was a kiss fan in my era! Glad a cat like you can see and hear great rock n roll!
Original member of the KISS army here, they were Gods to 12 year old me in to 70s.
I fell in love with KISS way back in February 1976. Alive album was my introduction and it changed my music world.
The best of KISS is all of the guys sing
Love that Gene moves the mic stand like, yeah this shit is getting ready to pick up.
PETER CRISS DRUM SOLO SONG.... "100,000 YEARS" FROM ALIVE ALBUM 👍👍👍👍
This is for GENE and PAUL that said PETER can't play drums .
Peter and Ace were very important in the first band' years.
This was so EPIC! This performance was AMAZING! KISS IT ´S TERRIFIC BAND ALL TIMES FOREVER
Peter Criss Songs:
Top 5 - Black Diamond, Hard Luck Woman, Beth, Strange Ways, Hooligan.
Notable Mentions - Dirty Livin', Nothing To Lose (with Gene Simmons), Baby Driver, Getaway.
YEP. KISS 1973-1977 was a hungry beast, raw and dangerous rock n roll. When they put imposters in Ace and Peter’s makeup, they became a tribute band. For more of Peter’s voice, watch ‘Hard Luck Woman’ performed on Paul Lynde’s 70s Halloween Special. It’s enjoyable to get a person’s first watches of the real KISS. A lot of people use them to build their platform. For me, Stryper’s the Christian equivalent of KISS with decades of great music. If you want your mind further blown, check out ‘Transgressor’ ‘Do Unto Others’ ‘To hell With The Devil’ ‘The Way’ and ‘Soldiers Under Command’ . LET’S GO!
If they’re imposters, then maybe the two druggie shouldn’t of sold their make up rights for drugs and alcohol money Eric and Tommy are 1 million times more reliable than the junkie twins
saw them in 75. as a 15 year old i was blown away. yes people take cheap shots now, [those who were not there usually] but in 1975 they were something else!
..please… don’t ever… EVER.. EVA EVA EVA EVA… mention stryper in the same sentence as KISS…
@@dubkjayboth wear colorful costumes…both play music…both were ostracized by critics…both were against drugs and alcohol (for the most part). Both are practically bedfellows, but I won’t mention them in the same sentence.
@@amysson5151 lol 👍🏼👍🏼 thanks Ames
Yeah, they all can sing. Ace was reluctant at first but eventually took the lead on Rocket Ride, Shock Me, 2000 Man and more. They wanted him to sing Cold Gin back in the day but he didn't feel comfortable so he left it to Gene. During the reunion tour Ace sang the second verse, making me wish he'd done the lead on that one all along. For a different sound by Peter, check out "Hard Luck Woman." For something closer to this, check out "Nothin' To Lose."
need to do 100,000 years from winterland ballroom BLOW YOUR MIND!!!
It's great to see people discover stuff like this.
This was a banger for sure! 🔥
70's Kiss is awesome
For sure! Loved this performance! 🔥
Welcome to the time of rock greatness!!!!!
Biggest band of tbe 70s… our Beatles
Perfect comment ❤
Peter Criss sang the bands 1st number 1 hit off Destroyer called Beth......also check out hard luck woman, baby driver, mainline, nothin to lose, strange ways
Oh cool! Appreciate the insight and the recommendations!
By Far My Favorite KISS Song and this is a Great Version!
The entire Dressed to Kill album.
The entire Hotter than Hell album
They all can sing. All 4 released solo albums on the same day
They could sing once a while ago
Ace was always a bit iffy, I don't know how they got his vocals to sound so good on his solo album.
Here's some Peter Criss KISS songs, enjoy:
Hooked On Rock 'N' Roll
Getaway
‘Mainline’
‘Baby Driver’
‘100,000 Years’ [Live]
Hooligan
Strange Ways
Hard Luck Woman
‘Beth’
Appreciate all the recommendations! Lots of bangers out there!
Dirty Livin'.. 😉🙂
🎯Awesome🎯 reaction 👍🏼 one thing you gotta understand about the early 🔥K I⚡⚡🔥 era , the first 2 or 3 years of their existence , they hit the scene and turn the world upside down with nobody knowing what they look like they either had their makeup on or their face covered at all times that was the big deal to try to see them without the makeup on , but yeah it was cool back then I'm 62 and I grew up a big 🔥KISS🔥 fan but don't leave DEUCE out of the picture it's worth checking out see when bands would come on the show it would be like a mini concert like you just did KISS see they open the show with DEUCE , then they did SHE , and the end of the show with BLACK DIAMOND and of course Peter Criss destroyed his drum kit 😁SHOW OVER 😁LOL 😂 😆 😂 but any of the band you pull up on the show you'll see there'll be three or four songs they do call this done in concert format UA-cam has got it as single songs if that makes sense
But one more thing about THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL it was hosted by a guy called WOLFMAN JACK
It was on what they called Network TV way before cable and MTV , this is how we watch live music back in the day it came on SATURDAY NIGHT at MIDNIGHT an you watch your favorite bands perform , so all the classic bands were on that show back in the day with, NO AUTO-TUNE NO CLICK TRACKS just straight up talent , so look through the MIDNIGHT SPECIAL archives and you'll see the band I'm talking about EVERY CLASSIC ROCK BAND WELL ALL GENRES REALLY came through THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL when they were young and just start out trying to become SUPERSTARS that they are today okay cool man ✌🏼-OUT🇺🇸💯
This right here is why the Kiss Alive album was a huge hit for them and made their career.
The old day (1970's) Kiss with the original line up had so much energy and attitude. It was a fun concert experience.
After the Destroyer album, the only thing really worthy is the post make up single Domino.
“Beth” is the best Peter vocal . One of the greatest love songs ever written.
Absolutely is a classic! I would’ve suggested it if nobody else had.
Back when KISS was still good. Blowing up the drum is really a tribute to Keith Moon.
6/75 Asbury Park Convention Center on boardwalk. Great show in a small setting.
I see kiss I hit like!!
KISS had two 1974 TV appearances you can find on YT, "In Concert" and "The Mike Douglas Show".
I'm 51, didn't see KISS until 1983 unfortunately, but I was a young student of that Alive!/Alive II era before I ever saw them in person. For every "KISS sucks, how did you like them?" person I send out a vid of this particular era, up until '77. Those 4 or 5 years were ridiculous.
He sang on Beth, Kiss’s biggest hit
Greatest band to ever grace the stage. Life long kiss fan. Brilliant
Firehouse wont disappoint. God of Thunder
The one that Peter Criss sang
Strutter , c’mon and love me and Fire House are KISS staples from the early 70s
Just listen to KISS ALIVE! Over and over and over like I do...hahahaha
Peter sang two of their biggest hits.
One of my all-time favorite songs from my all-time favorite group
Peter sings on "Beth" & "Nothin' To Lose". And he has a Whole Ass Solo Album, they ALL Do.
Peter’s voice helped get him the gig. Next song? Shock Me off Alive 2. Ace sings AND has a guitar solo! Peace ☮️
Yes I was 15 when kiss came out. So I only knew the original band
Kiss’s first 3 albums were phenomenal!!!!!!! I don’t care that the critics called them simple and that they were just a gimmick. Jimi Hendrix said life was a gimmick!!!!! Watch KISS in 1975-76 pre Destroyer concert and they blow the roof of the place . Strutted, Firehouse , Cold Gin , Watching You are bad ass songs . I went from KISS to Zeppelin and I was in love with R’n’R from then on . Rock on brother.
10,000 man ,shock me ,firehouse
"Got to choose" should be next
This guys going to freak out at the end of this song
thanks to react to this performance Seton!!!!.... greetings from Mexico
Greetings! This was straight 🔥🔥
These guys were the real deal in the 70's. The breakdown ending slowly modulates to lower octaves on the album version. Dark and badass.
Kiss is a show a performance that has to be seen live. Once you see them live, it clicks.
Left in the tank? Watch the Tank Tour!!
I was introduced to KISS with this episode, in 1975 or 76. KISS fan ever since
