Now, a Russian take on everyone’s favorite steamed dough pockets is set to take over New York City. Enter: Daa! Dumplings, an authentic take on the pelmeni, a Russian-style dumpling that originates from the cold northern Siberian region of the country.
    Now more than ever, thanks to Instagram, people are eating with their eyes. But does all this Instagrammable food actually taste good? What’s the story behind popular new food like Taco Pizza or Cheetos Macaroons? “Fork Yeah” answers these questions head on. This series goes to the source of the latest and greatest food trends and most ‘gramable dishes to find out how they taste and what inspired the making of them.

    huh serving pelmeni with pickles is traditional? never heard of that. pickles are mostly used as chasers for vodka, or as a cold appetizer with other assorted vegetables like radishes, parsley, tomatoes etc

      Depends on the family I guess. My mom loves them with pickles for sure.

    Never had Russian dumplings. The pelmeni look like tortellini and the khinkali look like xiao long bao. Love me some dumplings and these look awesome. 👍

      They are good but it's not a revelation. The best are Polish pierogi and Georgian Chinkali!!!!!!

    If you make dough right, it's a very gentle to taste. I add sour cream to my dough and it turns into an thin gental dough. You can always make a sauce with it( vinegar, soy sauce, splenda or sugar, little of sesame oil, water, garlic powder.)

    Try boiling pelmeni and add a big spoon of pesto sauce .. mix it up and you won’t regret it 🔥

    asians makes dumpling with all purpose flour too.

      Other than the crystal dumplings type most use ap flour or mix of ap flour and a starch. The reason the Russian ones are thick is they roll them thick.
