That looked like a lot of Fun and Sterling & Michael did a great job filming and editing it. I knew eventually Texas would get a BDR and I am impressed, this is no small task. Texas is mainly privately owned by Generational Farmers and Ranchers and I'm glad that they were able to put this route together for the ADV Community and many Thanks to those Farmers & Ranchers for Helping to facilitate this for Texas and the ADV Community. Great job by all! Looking forward to one day riding this BDR.
Sterling, you have really come into your own with this one. Absolutely masterful storytelling. Hard to believe this is a UA-cam episode and not something on Discovery channel. Really been great watching all your progress, which started out great and has only gotten better every time. Can't wait to watch more!
You guys are killing it! Cheers to all who works behind the scenes, of planning, riding, and finding great properties (public and private) for others to enjoy!...I grew up in Texas, and can not wait to get back and ride....much love to you ALL...ON CAMERA AND OFF CAMERA... thank you for another BDR.....
This is the first time I've ever finished a BDR before it was created. This will be a great route for your winter riding season. January temps are usually perfect.
I was thinking the same thing watching the film. Rode most all this back in March, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Looking forward to going back with more time to enjoy the scenery.
Been down to Big Bend three times now and going back in December of this year. Took Honda CB500X's first two trips and Yamaha XT250 and WR250R (much easier to handle) on last trip, had a blast exploring the back country. Loved seeing footage of the same back roads we traversed.
I don't know why UA-cam hasn't implemented the I love button, but for now I'll leave it written here I LOVE your videos, thank you very much for sharing.
Great new BDR! Love the X routes. I love that they’re shorter. And a loop! That’ll make it a more realistic destination for people with busy lives. And a good test before committing to one of the much longer routes. And not having to sit on the slab all the way back to your starting point means a smaller, more dirt worthy Motorcycle makes all the off-road miles safer and more fun!
Absolutely fantastic film, thoroughly enjoyable. We've done these routes a couple of times on little XT250's, had my share of falling off and injuries, but always an excellent time. You took me back there, which is good because we don't plan to go back due to my time off road drawing is to a close, so it is great to live vicariously through your films. Keep us the great work, thanks!
dead serious guys.. if it's the wet season and the river is up.. do not go past the Godzilla hill on Chipsa road. it becomes impassible with deep mud.... there is an old f150 buried where it got stuck and could never be recovered... chipsa road does change from smooth to very deep silt depending on traffic and weather.. a great alt trail is pinto canyon road up to Marfia .
Great work BDR team! I hope to do this route in the next couple of years when I'm based out of Las Cruces. Beautiful scenery and excellent route choices. Also, nice to see the team mostly running soft bags this time. And no major injuries or mishaps!
If your not into off road riding get on your street bike and go visit Big Bend area. Give yourself several days to explore. Very cool area to see. I am a native Texan and was totally blown away the first time I went there.
ALMOST went to the Austin Moto Adventure Screening.... Saw the email about 2 hrs before, and live 1.5 hrs. away.... Awe damnit!! lol, next time guys, great film. Hope to help out on one soon!!
You guys hit all my favorite spots and even a couple I’ve never been to! Outstanding! And pretty ballsy, tackling Black Gap on a Pan America- had to be a couple of high pucker factor moments on that one. 😂 I’ve come to prefer the State Park to the National Park. The Suaceda Bunk House is a great place to stage day trips out of, and there’s fewer people. But you really can’t go wrong with either. 😃😃😃
Super cool BDR !! definitely was wondering when Michal said he was going to Texas. I was like what are you gonna do there now? I know incredible guys. 🤗
I ride out to Big Bend once a year. and have been to most of the places but have not done a lot of the off road routs other than the river road. Might have to give this rout a go!
Nice film and route, you missed soooo much more out here tho. Christmas Mountain is super awesome, Also super super expert only route from Candalaria along the RIO grande to El Paso. Deadly No Man's Land but Epic challenge. Pinto Canyon road is fun , old smugglers route also 169 off Hwy 170 is dirt that cuts through BIG Bend Ranch State park and ends in Marfa. soo much more to explore out here.
Yay! Tennesee Kat is taking a seasonal job in Texas and headed that way in March. The job starts April 1 so i hope to fit BBBDR in prior. I would love to find a ride partner who enjoys a leisurely pace!
I’m a experienced long distance sport tourer (FJR1300, K1600, etc) just getting into “Adventure” touring (Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES DCT) and I know one thing - I’m getting a MUCH lighter bike if I’m going to tackle roads like Old Ore. I ride solo a lot.
I enjoyed your video. Big Bend and some of the surrounding areas are more serious than portrayed. It's fun, but people who are not prepared often pay a price...
Great ride! I'm pretty certain I encountered a Prada store like the one you encountered last year in Death Valley Junction while riding. It struck me as very odd to see such a thing largely in the middle of nowhere.
Well done to everyone that was very enjoyable. The whole film is so alive with super rich colours and crystal clear images. What was the main camera used please? DSLR or Professional Sony movie camera? Thanks!
Thank you for the work in putting the BDR routes together. After hearing that motels need to be reserved ahead, Is there plenty of places to camp off grid along the route for those of us that don't like to schedule everything? Or is this route best for people on a schedule?
There is plenty of camping within the park itself - established campsites and backcountry (with permit). There are also camping spots in the non-park places, but all of that is private land, so you just need to do some looking along the route on airbnb/vrbo/hipcamp/google, etc to find them. Hotels are sometimes hard in Marfa, Terlingua, and the Chisos, but not always.
@jennyburden7610 Thank you for the reply. I definitely prefer unplanned and unreserved backcountry camping, but I also know that open access public land is scarce in most places.
Good video! I am familiar with the dirt roads in the national park, but haven't rode any dirt on the state park side. I have been on the road between Terlingua and Presidio. You guys should've stopped at closed canyon on that road,it's worth seeing.
I didn't see any mention of King Kong Hill when you were in the state park, so I am guessing your group just rode into the Bunkhouse area and back out? There are numerous two track roads that are not graded and they can get quite technical. King Kong is a long, steep, and tough climb, but it is worth it when you get to the views! Definitely not the kind of roads I'd be taking my GS on or a PanAm. The 690/701s though would be great. Gas is a huge issue though because the nearest gas is in Presidio and that is pretty far away. You definitely want to bring extra gas if you can, especially if you have a support vehicle that can transport it for you. Pinto Canyon is also a fun road even though it is not real long.
Jackpot of INFO!!. I’m heading to Big Bend 2025. What time of year were these videos? I am thinking of hitting it in April. I just know it won’t be in July/August. 😅
Planning to ride the BDR-X Texas during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Can anyone share insights on the safety of the route during this time of year? Also, does Section 4 of the route come close to the Mexican border?
I’ve road west Texas for years, back in 2001, I stayed in Terlingua for an entire week. I do seem to remember that store but for the life of me I can’t remember what was sold (?).
@@timlubbers2884 It was a "kafe". Order at the window, eat at the tables outside. Was right by the hotel with all the easter egg colored buildings. ua-cam.com/video/054apVA2r7g/v-deo.html
Make no mistake, riding a Pan America or other large ADV bike is NOT a good idea. If you can't pick it up on River Road after you dropped it in deep pee gravel your gonna spend the night in the desert. Hopefully you did not break your ankle. Titanium...I just trying to look out for my fellow cyclist. Chill out...I have been riding for 45 years and own 5 bikes.
Why do people feel the need to tell others what bikes they should or should not ride for their adventures? I’ve seen people on big bikes outride those on smaller bikes plenty of times. I’ve seen people take big bikes places many smaller bike riders wouldn’t be able to ride. Skill, experience , mindset and physical ability are the most important factors that enable a person to excel or cause them to fail. Bike size and weight is largely arbitrary. Don’t let your lack of skill or physical ability on big bikes fool you into thinking it’s the bike and not you who is responsible. Certainly don’t let your downfalls make you think you can or should presume to tell others what they can’t or shouldn’t ride.

Thank You BDR and supporters for making another beautiful route possible 🙏🏾

Yes! December and February have been when I've gone and both were fantastic riding to do any or all of this.

Fantastic vid, just like all of the BDR productions! Great job to all and it was especially great to see the ladies out there!
Great to see Eva joining the crew! What an adventure, thank you all for everything you do for our communities.
I don't know why UA-cam hasn't implemented the I love button, but for now I'll leave it written here I LOVE your videos, thank you very much for sharing.
Another awesome Sterling Noren production. Thanks for sharing, & including the outtakes! 👍

Route looks awesome! Thanks BDR Team!
“Looking like some sort of lunatic vlogger” Haha.
Route looks amazing. Can’t wait to get out there at some point.
This route looks like a blast! There are some nice bits of slightly more technical terrain and some great scenery as well.
dead serious guys.. if it's the wet season and the river is up.. do not go past the Godzilla hill on Chipsa road. it becomes impassible with deep mud.... there is an old f150 buried where it got stuck and could never be recovered... chipsa road does change from smooth to very deep silt depending on traffic and weather.. a great alt trail is pinto canyon road up to Marfia .
Very grateful that yall put this route together. Good to see the shift in advertisement from Zero to HD.
So awesome! Thank you BDR Crew.
Phenomenal scenery and route along with impressive riding on the big bikes. I think I would go light😬
I have ridden a bicycle from Ft. Davis up to the top of Mt. Locke. I have ridden the scenic loop around that area several times. It is a great place.
Great work BDR team! I hope to do this route in the next couple of years when I'm based out of Las Cruces. Beautiful scenery and excellent route choices. Also, nice to see the team mostly running soft bags this time. And no major injuries or mishaps!
Awesome route! Great job BDR team and Austin Moto Adventures!

Maggie! Las Vegas representing!
Спасибо большое, оч интересно . Классная дорога
So grateful Sterling did this after the NOR CAL BDR.... his Arizona scooter videos were making me concerned :)
Well done, and such a great video of your hard work. Thank you
I know where I will be going next spring! Great video as usual
Yall are all great riders! Big balls to ride this route on large ADVs
That one looks like one of the best adventures in the series

Great stuff, West Texas...something else man! Great job everybody. Can't wait to go ride this. When is the East Texas one coming out ?? LOL.
Great vid! I'm looking forward to getting back out to Texas and riding
Great Video of one of our Favorite places in the U.S. to Ride 👊
wow 🙌 love it!!! Well done guys!
Excellent film. On the Bucket List.
I'm thinking my CRF300L will love these trails

I didit my self in my africa t, it was a super fun ride...you have a special bike...use it, she,ll be there for you
Ole Ore was fun on old Honda Trail 90’s. DR-650 does the deep sand bits lots better tho.
I enjoyed your video. Big Bend and some of the surrounding areas are more serious than portrayed. It's fun, but people who are not prepared often pay a price...
I hope ya'll are working on a full TEXAS BDR!
Great ride! I'm pretty certain I encountered a Prada store like the one you encountered last year in Death Valley Junction while riding. It struck me as very odd to see such a thing largely in the middle of nowhere.

Is no one gonna talk about the 690 sounding like a rod is ready to give out? At a minimum, that guy needs to check his cams!
they all (690's) sound like that.
I think anybody hacking on Ktm needs to state what bike ( if any) they own and ride.
Every ktm sounds like a paint shaker full of marbles.
@@jeffnorthup3823 690 Enduro, probably 5,000 miles in the last year. The only time it sounds halfway decent is 60 to 100
@ridebdr thanks for putting this together. Can you say what the percentage of off road to asphalt is?

Be careful in Ft Davis. Got a speeding ticket there and was barely going over limit
I have a 2000 Aprilia Pegaso 650... 40k on her since new and still have yet to do this route.... Do you think March will be a good time of year?
I apologize if I missed it but , what month was this ridden & filmed ? Thx 👍🏻
Chisos are nice. I’ve seen black bear there
Planning to ride the BDR-X Texas during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Can anyone share insights on the safety of the route during this time of year? Also, does Section 4 of the route come close to the Mexican border?
The majority of this route is along the border or on the border (the river they're on is the Rio Grande) - it is perfectly safe. Well worth the trip.
How would a Jeep do on this BDR?
Welcome to my Home,,
My Empire of Dirt. #VivaTerlingua
How do I join other riders to do a BDR?
Yup, Ore road has taken plenty of paint and crash bar metal from me …
First comment😀
Every time I see Terlingua I'm sad all over again the Kathy's Kosmic is gone. Been more than a decade now.
I’ve road west Texas for years, back in 2001, I stayed in Terlingua for an entire week. I do seem to remember that store but for the life of me I can’t remember what was sold (?).

Wtf is "BDR?" I keep hearing it referenced but noone says the full name of what the acronym is.
Back road Discovery Route
Looks lovely, but I ain't riding in Mexico.
I stopped when they deflated the tires .
Not a single mention of the dark sanctuary? Huge missed opportunity
Sterling took one for the team 😂
14 minutes in...2.5 minutes of riding (of which 1.5 minutes was highway). I've seen them stop, eat, and walk around more than ride. Nice promotion.
BDR as an organization seems kinda kooky
If i crawled in that tunnel there would be a rattlesnake.
I propose an idea I think adventure bikes need to get lighter and more maneuverable
My idea de family fun .
Id do it all on slicks.
Not going anywhere gotta make a freekin reservation. 5 mph? Really? Can't hardly ride at 5 mph
Really roughing it on your 20,000$ bikes. Might as well drive the RV
Una stufa
a little less ra ra and a bit more detail would make this actually useful
Missed out on some of the best routes around there. Decent ride but honestly disappointed with route as a whole
