2:33 "Yesterdays Labor Price IS Not Today's Labor Price". Vid helps a lot had P0304 show up few days ago, bout to go to work on it.
Ok cool
Was codes detecting misfires on all cylinders, but in actuality it was just the 2? That's what I currently have and bank 1,which is MAF sensor correct? Thanks bro, thanks for the explanation
I didn’t understand stand about what u said MAF sensor?
That vacuum line that u said watch out for, where does that lead to?
I’m not sure it goes to intake I think so
Hopefully this works. My 2008 BMW 328i has been having trouble starting for a few weeks and just barely got money to buy replacements yesterday. Now the car doesn’t start so I hope these do the trick along with spark plugs. Will update by this weekend. Just going to replace everything with Bosch spark plugs and coils because I don’t know how to check codes or have tools for it.
Not sure if this will help but try scanning the car for codes before anything
my 2004 325i misfires on 5&6 after going through a car wash.
I'll swap coils with 1&3 to see if it follows.
I only get about 15 MPG since I bought it in 2016. Still don't know why.
Fix the misfire clean out oxygen sensor
I got cylinder 6 misfire I replaced spark plugs coils all of them together and it still misfire. Thinking it might be injectors? I hope not. Right now I’m changing out my valve cover gasket to see if it helps and if I hope
Oh darn!!! I want u to see if there’s oil in the okugs also. I had this case before the coil connector looks like it’s Locke sun but it wasent so put some wd40 on the coil pack neck there’s seal inside it permits it from locking in tight. In another words loose connection
I will get the Bosh Coils. would you recommend Bosh coils for a 6 Cylinder 2006 BMW 525i?
Bosh
I have a 2013 328i xDrive and occasionally when driving at higher speeds the car starts to shake and when I slow down it feels like I'm driving on a flat tire even though I'm not. Also when slowing down the car does feel like it's jerking. Then it just randomly goes away like nothing happened and starts running smoothly again. Could my engine be misfiring? My car hasn't thrown any codes at all, so I'm not sure what's wrong.
Did u check tire pressure
I have thr exact same issue usually gets bad around 70-80 im pretty sure your misfiring definitely keep scaning it and do the test on coils with the engine on to see which cylinders might be misfiring. Also if u put 19s or anything like that on it it makes the 328i shake like craY
Looking at 2012 bmw 328i with 180000 for 2450 fb market place the catch is that it has a 1 and 2 cylinder misfire but it looks very well cared for. I was going try the tips on this video. What do you guys recommend, or is the car already done due to the milage??
Do your have Nike air Jordan’s? If yes I want you to run as fast as you can from that damn thing too many milages
My pcv failed and let oil into manifold. I cleaned that all up replaced pcv. Noticed dissa valves were submerged in oil I still sent it put it all back together and now all my cylinders are misfiring they weren’t doing so before this procedure I can guaranteed everything’s all there. I had to pull a couple coils that probably never been replaced since factory check plugs and all of them are fouled up bad. Crazy thing about this misfire is i can cold start the car fine it will operate fine in drive but soon as I get it into the 4k range I get a multiple misfire code in random cylinders. The plugs were working just fine before I pulled 2 coils but they are very fouled to.
Pcv? Is part of valve cover gasket it would make engine misfire run lean
@@RBTheMechanic I replaced the pcv it was allowing oil into manifold I cleaned manifold and rebuilt the disavslves to working condition. Replaced spark plugs just now still no luck. I’m convinced my manifold gasket is bad allowing bad air to fuel ratio making random misfires after I get on the gas
Got a misfire: cyl 5
Replaced cyl 5 coil pack
Still getting cyl 5 misfire.
What else could be throwing that code?
Need help.
Did u check spark plug and oil in the bore of cylinder inside spark plug?
I have p0302 on my BMW 328i 2.0 the car shakes after a couple minutes of starting.
Also if I don’t start the car for a couple days when I start blue smoke comes out of tailpipe, only when starting. Not sure if this has anything to do with code p0302.
It has around 80k miles. I replaced the ignition coil but still had same symptoms and code. I’ll try to replace the spark plug on cylinder 2 tomorrow.
Yes replace the spark plugs also check to see if there’s build up on the plug on cylinder 2
@@RBTheMechanic thank you! Should i put wd40 oil and or dielectric grease on spark plug/coil?
@@tiodonaldtrompas2337 no but make sure ur connector for the coil is connected propperly before removing inspect the connector to see if it looks odd. But the smoke from muffler not sure that seems more worst u less it’s misfiring still cuz of coil or plug
@tiodonaldtrompas2337 did it work?
@@tiodonaldtrompas2337I have p0303
Seeing that engine compartment and all that plastic is one of the many reasons I will not own a BMW. Nice short and to the point video. Thanks.
Yeah all new cars are mostly plastic
My 2004 325i was leaking oil. I spent $4,600 in repairs from a Garage and NOT a Dealer.
1. Oil Filter Gasket and an oil hose near it.
2. Oil Pan Gasket
3. Front Crankshaft Seal
4.Timing Cover Gasket (Big job)
5. Rear Main Seal
6. Valve Cover Gasket.
I personally inspected every leak with my mechanic.
So I know I wasn't being ripped off.
I talked to a different mechanic at the same shop and he said those were the SAME parts he had to replace.
If you start leaking oil, SELL ASAP.
I only paid $3,800 for the car in 2016.
Up until last year, I only had to replace Engine Mounts, Shocks, a leaky Water Pump Gasket and a few other things like window regulators and such and a few front end suspension parts.
@@stanleyplock1181 yeah all the seals u did are common after 80k miles they start to leak
I have a bmw 328i 2011 has a slight misfire in cylinder 3 and a couple oil drips here and there, the car also needs work to pass smog but the car did get an all new thermostat and water pump not even a thousand miles ago, all in all a really solid car but wondering how to fix
Cylinder misfire in 3
Well I would replace the spark plug and coil on cylinder 3 and clean out the oil make sure once u connect the connector for coil it’s nice and firm they tend to stay loose even though snap connector is locked in anways let’s take it from there if it stays good then ur fine and need to think about valve cover gasket for the oil in there
@@RBTheMechanic would it pass smog after that???
@@brizzsky not with misfire and also once u fix and repair and reset the light u need to do driving cycle of at least 90 miles or it could be more other wise they will fail u for not being ready
Working on a 328i got cylinder 6 misfire but the engine wont ignite could it be my spark plugs?
Possability yes
This must be the most superficial "diagnosis" I've seen. And presented with so much confidence...
Yup directly to the point
What if you’ve done all this and still have misfire in two cylinders like 5-6
Check ur coil connectors I had bmw come back to me the connector that locks in dosent work good out small amount of wd40 in the seal inside it will go and push further start from there
Need help I scan my car it shown me like 30 codes ...the car turn on really well does not make noise the only thing it does rpm goes up and down not often
What are codes .. give me All codes and all detailed on codes
@@RBTheMechanic ???????
@@orozcomartin9287 I’m sorry?
Vacuum leaks
Can u upload the whole video of this when u removed the covers on top or send me the link to it. Btw thank you for this video im going to try to do this to my BMW i got the cylinder 6 misfire and u explained it pretty easy so thanks again for your video. 💯🙏🙏🙏👋
I only have this video if it
I changed all 6 of my spark plugs but I still get a misfire detected on cylinder 5 . I even switched the coil to a different place and it still says cylinder 5
We’ll switch the plugs on that cylinder and check connector to see if they in good
my bf recently replaced his coils and plugs because it was misfiring and kept shutting off when he would come to a stop. after he changed his coils and plugs it got worse and went into limp mode. what could we do to atleast get it out of limp mode and stop misfiring?
Oh did he scan the car for codes
I know exactly what’s wrong with his car does it randomly shut off
Am I able to do this on a 1999 328i
Yeah I think it’s same engine
I have a misfire on 5, I've swapped coils and replaced the spark plug (gapped to .03) and it still shows a misfire after clearing the errors. Any idea? Thanks and your videos are great.
Dose the spark plug have fuel like it’s wet could be injector or vaccum leak on the intake neck
@@RBTheMechanic I'll check for all of them. When I remove the connector from the coil, there is no change in the engine running but I tested the spark and it's great so I'm leaning towards the injector. Thanks.
I changed my spark plugs and coils on my bmw 328i 2011. Still having misfire codes
What code u had
I changed all 4 coils in 116i 2l still misfire , what should I do ?
Did u check to see the condition of plugs also look side for oil in soark plug bore. Just to add a NOTE: I had bmw that I replace coils on and it was misfiring prior to changing coils there was no misfire the coil connectors looked connected but they never made full contact so recheck ur coil connectors
I’ve replaced my cylinder three coil twice in the past six months. I just replaced it again three weeks ago and it’s already going out again. Do you know what is causing this to happen? It’s killing my gas mileage.
Is it on same cylinder? Dose it have oil in the bore? Did u change the spark plugs? What brand coil did u use and how much it was? Buy one from dealer!
@@RBTheMechanic yes same cylinder. #3 it's eating my gas 2x the normal speed. My gas gage drops about 20 miles per 2.5 miles driven. I can't keep gas in it. Idk what's causing it to keep going out. I bought cheap coils from Amazon cause they had really good reviews. Same with my plugs. They factory ones were about $200 more in price.
@@AnwaarsTarot try bosh and pull out the plug to see the condition or at least change out the spark plug also in that one cylinder just for a test
@@RBTheMechanic OK I will try that. Thank you.
@@RBTheMechanic Oh also, it'll randomly shut off while driving. I'm actually on the side of the freeway as I type this cause it shut off on me. The light on the dash with the car on the lift came on and the power shut off. This has been a regular thing lately. I let it sit for about 2 minutes until the car "clicks" and resets and then it starts right up. Do you know what's causing all this? I've never had any issues with this car before. This has been going on since January.
Misfire of 4, 5, 6. All new plugs new, 4&5 has new Ignition coils. Imma try the quick unplug to see if it will die. But also somewhere there is oil leaking all around. Replaced the valve cover and gasket. But no clue
Not sure if oil leak is ur issue if there’s oil inside or on coils that’s an issue yup test it and check the connectors on coil
oil def leaked in. and fouled out the spark plugs. the connector on coils are good with no probs.
@@RBTheMechanic
Edit to 1st thing i typed** the guy who i bought from replaced " I changed the fuel injectors the valve cover the intake manifold and that's all I change from it"@@RBTheMechanic
also the car has the EML light on. So its kinda f*cked. excuse my language. But i really should've done more research before buying this car or looked at other options. But i do need this as a daily
@@RBTheMechanic
What year is this car ?? Same thing for 2011?
Yeah same
Okay, how about this:
I had misfires in 3 and 6, replaced all the plugs and the coil packs for 3 and 6 and the car is still running rough and still coding a misfire on 3 and 6.
What now?
I had issue like this check the connectors on coil put small amount of lube on the seal inside it dosent allow the connector to sit see if that resolves it and do it on all coils
You know what? I didn't think of that.
I'll try it and let you know.
@@Rideca74did it work?
Got misfire of 1 and 2 and i have new coils but not branded and i have new spark plugs
Didn’t check to see oil on spark plugs or coil connectors
Putting in a new spark plug solved the problem with p0302 code. I was able to save a lot of money doing it myself with your video. Thanks for your help.
I just did new spark plug on cylinder 2 put planning on doing the rest within the next month or so. It’s a lot easier than it looks.
Nice good job!! How did the plug look?
@@RBTheMechanic the spark plug was a little black from the bottom, not too much. It didn’t have any oil or buildup.
@@tiodonaldtrompas2337 oh ok
how do you know its the coil adn not the spark plug?
U can swap coils to see if misfire switches to diffrent cylinder but 99.99 % it’s coil
@@RBTheMechanic thanks. I figured out that my bmw120i 2007 has a bad ignition coil. where can i find the part number as when I search or ignition coils for bmw i get different ones. I am in Australia.
Wicked. Trying to diagnose mine tomorrow by swapping coils to see if problem moves cylinder
Yup try it
I have misfire in cylinder 2..
Replaced all plugs.
Replaced all coils and Rreplaced injector in cylinder 2.
Still misfiring.
Can anyone help. What am I missing.
2L. 2008 model.
N43 B20 engine..
Forgot to add , compression is good and local garage cannot find fault.
Check injector
Replaced injector and it still come up with cylinder 2 fault....
Going to take it to BMW main dealer..
High milage but well cared for BMW.
2008 and its all original and in mint condition......
It's at low revs but as soon as you want power it splutters..
Thought I'd post on here to try and widen my information "beam"...
@@g..mac.9203 did u check engine compressor?
Compression was good...
All checked..
I did put a reconditioned injector into cylinder 2.. Can't get a new one anywhere in the UK..
