In My Opinion E.L.O. Has Always Been Their Own Genre Of Music Unlike Any Other.
Well maybe a little like another small band from England. I wonder whatever happened to those four lads?
@@light9999 An english crafsman (is that the term) working here in sweden for a few years in the late 1980s told me exactly that. I was no great fan of either band, but I still felt a little perplexed. Why is it so bad to embrace and refine a concept that you happen to love, so to speak? I see much less of that negative attitude in jazz, folk, ethnic music and classical. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I agree, but then who wasn’t influenced by the fab 4?
ALL Groups/Bands/Artists Were Influenced By The Music Before Them.
@@happymethehappyone8300 No not ALL
She is correct, ELO was a gamechanger back in the day, 70/80's.
in what way?
I am a huge Rush fan. I have heard ELO’s radio hits but I’m diving into their catalog and they are an incredible band. Jeff Lynne is a genius.
Chod, the *ELO* song that blew you away the most was, *"Tightrope"* You could barely form your sentences, saying the following: *"This is...this is like a friggin' movie! This is, like...this is beyond music...it's amazing."*
Another ELO song your wife would adore, since she brought up dancing, is the flash mob dance video of, *"All Over The World".* that you reacted to last year. It is an incredibly happy and inspiring song & video!
I would add “Hold On Tight” to the list of uplifting, inspirational songs.
'Sweet Talkin' Woman', is another one worthy of a reaction.
My favorite by ELO
Released 45 years ago. One of my favorite songs ever. ELO was the first band where the string players were band members and not contract musicians.
Great reaction. Let her see ELO Telephone Line live from wembley stadium. She’ll love it
Evil Woman is also a great one live at Wembley.
Speaking Of E.L.O. & Dancing,, Show Her The Flash Mob Dance Video For "All Over The World"...Such A Great Song To Dance To & They Literally Do,, All Over The World.
Saw them at the Pontiac Silverdome in '78. Flying saucer as the stage.
Classic ELO! Great tune. Turn it up!🔈🔉🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊
A gift for your soul ELO strange magic.
You seeing her reaction to music you love is the feeling we get when you hear music we love.
Pretty cool feeling, isn't it?
Have a great day!
One of the few bands that have been able to produce consistently great music album after album. Dee seems to like ELO very much. 😁
Dee is great. You should have her on more often. And this was from the 70s.
I've been an ELO fan for 45+ years. They are their own genre. Thank you to Jeff, Roy, and Bev for starting this band.
Always enjoyed the vocal bridge, it puts the song on an upper level
E.L.O. is not just a name, they really are an orchestra.
Such a simple yet effective banger...ELO is awesome.
Another classic ELO song! Chod, you've GOT TO introduce your wife to "Tightrope". Love to see her reaction!
Telephone Line, Sweet Talking Woman, Evil
Woman all great ELO songs
She was smiling through the whole song.
My favorite era of this music would have been 1979-1989 I remember this Decade very fondly .
I'm 21, I'm so gald I was able to see them live a few years back. When they did "Do Ya" it was amazing. They also did some Wilbury's songs with Dhani Harrison. His version of Roll Over Beethoven is the best IMO.
she did give a solid description of the bee dance
When Released This Absolutely Beautiful Classic Was Used By MANY As Their Wedding Song & Once You Hear It,, You Will Understand Why,, Chicago "Colour My World..A MUST HEAR..
TRUTH!!
"Yes I'm turnin' to stone 'cause you ain't coming home why you ain't coming home if I'm turning to stone you've been gone for so long and I can't carry on yes I'm turnin' I'm turnin' I'm turnin' to stone". Love that part. ELO produced a lot of hits in the seventies. Last hit I remember was early eighties, a song called "Calling America". You should give that one a try.
2 Absolutely Beautiful Classics For The Both Of You,, Electric Light Orchestra "Need Her Love" & "Waterfall"
I actually like Midnight Blue a little more than Need Her Love.
Waterfall is a beautiful song🥰🥰🥰
@@Bassjohn1968 100% Agreed.
@@unrulyjulie4382 I can understand that,, another beautiful song.
An absolute anthem since day 1
Those strings hit her as hard as they did me when I first heard this one lol
John Lennon said once that ELO is what the Beatles would have sounded like if they had stayed together.
They were the biggest band in the world in 1977.
You must show Dee " All over the World " she will love the flash mob and also " Evil Woman " one of their best ❤️❤️
E.L.O. is considered a band, but all of the music is created by the one man - Jeff Lynne.
I’m so old! I was in the Navy when this came out! So fun to watch you guys share music! Just like we did in days of old!
So many greats. This is just one. Thanks for putting this one on.
E.L.O. is a genre all by themselves. Thank you for a great reaction 👍😊
There are so many awesome ELO songs. You should check out Twilight or even 2015's "When I was a Boy". Jeff Lynne's ELO still performs today. I saw them in Washington DC in June of 2019. The only consistent members are Jeff Lynne and sometimes Richard Tandy (Keyboardists).
Dee your reaction at the end of this was priceless! You two are hilarious. Subscribed!
great. and so many more ...
you need to watch live ELO it will blow your mind from 2016
I loved seeing the two of you reacting to this song! ELO has a lot of great music, so dive deep. I'll be looking for ya'. Peace
this song came out in 1977. they also did the sound track for Xanadu with Olivia Newton John.
I love how the opening of the song sounds like a spaceship approaching or something. Like The Beatles, and Pink Floyd, he uses dialogue and SFX to good effects. When you guys are listening to these, are you watching the live Wembley shows? If not, you might want to consider it. You don't have to show us. But it'll give you a different feel for the band.
YES! The "Wembly or Bust" (or whatever it was called) is an absolute stunner of a joyous experience! A huge part of the fantastic fun in those performances was the audience reactions!
And there you have it, D is addicted 🥰🥰🇬🇧❤️
jeff lynne
the lead singer of ELO
produced some of the later beatles recordings
you can deffo hear the influence on the fade out to this track
multiple instruments going ham and then all fading away
keep the beatles in mind when listening to ELO
you will be surprised how often it is heard
{:-) PAV uk
Think of ELO as the British rock counterpart of Parliament Funkadelic in the 70s.
Fantastical ELO!!
Back in the 70's, this music to me seemed to combine elements of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. we were only 1 generation from the music of the 50's when our parents were in high school so it was not to far from what we heard growing up mixed with what was popular at the time
Genius!
The space ship is modeled after a Juke box.
The 1946 Wurlitzer 1015 jukebox to be exact. Specifically, the wall-mounted speakers.
That flash mob is for real and they will do again for the peeps in Europe. You watch "All around the world."
I didn't even look to see if anybody else said this, but Dee is exactly right about it looking like a jukebox! But Chod is right, too!
It's an Unidentified Flying Jukebox!
And you two are adorable!
You may want to check out Roy Wood,s Wizard, the band members
of both Elo and Wizard were once co-mingled in a band called The Move
Roy,s band is more related to British roots
If you're going to have a Playlist from ELO. "I need her love" is probably one of the best to use.
I firmly believe that no one can listen to this song without smiling. For a minute or two there, I thought I was wrong, but then you couldn't help it.
Came out in late 1977.
Time to buy the boss a new comfy chair Chod. Then play her some AUSSIE Music
i just listend to a day in the life by the beatles and that cacauphonous ending and the breathing part in mr blue sky reminded me of that song
THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Happy song from my youth!! ( am 63, but NOT "Old" lol) .. these days, we need "Happy Music"!! .. thank you!
You two look good together.
Nice addition to the channel! Turn her in to Dylan, Chod🤛🔥👏🥰
Marvelous double feature tonight....
This is from the 70's!
Are you rolling thru your Playlist for your wife? The cream of the crop from what you've listed to.
Your wife be Dee is Adorable. Hahaha, I feel that ELO and Steely Dan are going to be her favorite bands.
Hi Wilburn!!
I think if you liked ELO's more happy songs, your wife could fall in Love with the ELO with songs like All Over the World, Last Train to London, Don't bring me down and Shine a Little Love :-)
Also, Livin' Thing, Sweet Talking Woman and Evil Woman.
Best regards from Chile!!
Try this one.Electric Light Orchestra - Ticket To The Moon. From the album Time.
Jukebox space ship. The songs are taking you on trip outta space.
How about Telephone Line to get a feel of how good their ballads were too!
There is of course, a song called Life is a Highway, sung by Tom Cochrane !
😊👍
Bang on about the spaceship/Jukebox observation. Don't know how old your daughter is but introduce her to the movie Xanadu (1980). Total cheese but ELO did much of the soundtrack. Most young ladies seem to really like it.
👍👍👍👍
Ya gotta check out "Fire On High"!
WATCH ELO LIVE VIDEO AND YOU WILL SEE THEM PLAYING ALL THE VIOLINS AND CHELIOS!
Hey Chod, can you have Dee use the "good headphones", and you use the discount ones(you've had a chance to hear it clearly)....
Another example of her "visual" frame of reference.... "Dancing like there is a bee bothering her"
And hey Dee, one for the wedding playlist ... I Can Dream About You
From the movie Streets Of Fire.
Get Chod to react to that with you.
Out Of The Blue is a great double album. I have four copies on vinyl, an original first pressing, a half speed master, a picture disc and one in a box set, and one on CD. Is this too many?
The closest thing to The Beatles without being The Beatles.
If you're not immediately talking about the vocal melody of the verses..... if your mind doesn't recognize that exquisite note sequencing, then you completely missed what makes this song great.
Gotta do a reaction to ELO Evil Woman its there biggest hit your Lady will like that one
HEADPHONES Please! To get the most.
Also, Don’t Bring Me Down
You should react to Life Is A Highway, but let's do the original by Tom Cochrane from Red Rider.
Somebody needs to do the "Turn To Stone" by Barnstorm, not the "So What" version.
Telephone Line.
Hey, when you two look the age of our kids?
We don't mind being called old. We are. And we know it.
ALWAYS PICK LIVE VIDEOS, IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE!
Have you reacted to "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche together.
Has Dee heard any Yes yet?
TAL BACHMAN - "She's So High"
You should add an S to Wilburn, and put your wife Dee in your intro.
ELO is the perfect bridge from “chick music” to actual rock. -Sorry for such a stupid comment! My disappointment in myself is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
A cracking comment 👍😊
Headphone upgrade? Earbuds maybe? What am I missing here?
you should watch the live at wembley clips they sound better live
Great music but only their 70s stuff
What no video???
I thought you were married she gave it away your not married
Good choice of music - poor choice of videos. When you are playing ELO, you should always play the live version of the videos so that your wife (and you) can see all the violins and cellos that he includes on stage to play with the band!
I love ELO. But this is one of my least favorite of theirs.
Get another sidekick,, no personality
