Jeff Lynne is the genius behind ELO. In a radio interview, he said that he was heavily influenced by the Beatles from when he first heard them as a teenager. If you listen to both groups, you can pick up on the similarities.

ELO, Boston, ABBA and The Bee Gees. The best of the 70’s. It’s so good to see the younger generations finding out about the great bands from yesteryear.
ELO did a lot of great stuff, in a variety of styles - aided by change of lead singer from Roy Wood (later of Wizzard and solo fame) to Jeff Lynne early on.
There was no "change of lead singer". Roy, who left the band after the 1st album, did sing lead on 3 tracks on that album, but the other 4 tracks featured Jeff Lynne on lead vocals.
I HAD to crank this one up!! I love watching you ladies react to all this different awesome music.
