I HAD to come back to this video to say huge thank you. Just attempted a repair yesterday with your same method, and I saved my connector! Boiling it absolutely worked and one more NES saved. Definitely the weirdest repair Ive ever done, but well worth. Thank you!!

Decided to take a crack at boiling the connector in my NES this arvo and had the same success you did. Good trick that’s surprisingly effective.
    G’day from Melbourne

Haha, and just reminder Nintendo always told us not to try to fix or clean anything on our own. I bet they didn't expect us to be carefully repairing these awesome consoles so many years later :)

Haha, I like the part where the spider scared you.

It's actually two special guests, Retro Retro Game On and the spider lad. As this is Australia it's probably deadly as well. ;) Nice job on the NES, I like my cartridge connectors al dente.

That definitely added some unintentional excitement to the video. I am not sure which is worse, spiders or cockroaches.

Omg well done mate!! Damn that spider was huge could only imagine how big it would be with its legs spread out. It certainly claimed the Nes its home. The Maxi 15 games in one takes me back I use to play this with my brother back in the 90's man it has some solid games that all have endings to them if you're good enough you can finish all of them. There's a few I have yet to complete. My favourite games on the Cart would be - Crazy Creatures, Menace Beach & Death Race!! Death Race is the best - Make sure to press Select as you can actually choose some additional weapon which I never knew existed. Can't wait to see your review. Enjoy mate!

That looks like a White Tail or a Funnel Web. Either way they'll both send you to the hospital.

Yeah, I think it was a whitetail. Funnel webs were common where I grew up, as a stupid kid I would shove sticks down their burrows.

Да у меня тоже были пауки в консолях, но это же Австралия, тут все смертельно опасное и готово вас убить! Рад что вы живы остались.

What kind of monitor are you using at your repair station?
    Would like something similar.

Never would I have thought that putting circuitry into boiling water would actually help it! Learned something new today

      @retrogameon  2 роки тому +4

To be fair, there's no circuitry in the cartridge connector, just a series of metal pins. I wouldn't attempt to fix other electronics with boiling water haha

The spider connector, exclusively on NES.

i tried everything years ago. replaced the 72 pin, cleaning, boiled, spread pins with a safety pin...still nothing. bought a Retron 1 HD. it does all my NES goodies and the nes is a display piece now

Sounds like your NES needed a spider living in it.

My trick back in the day was to not push the cart in all the way before pushing it down. Nowadays I play most games from an Everdrive with an AV Famicom.
Maxi 15 is a great cart. Chiller is just so absurdly violent and there is Death Race on there as well. Krazy Kreatures is quite fun with two people. My guilty pleasure is collecting the HES library,

Also yesterday I was in my kitchen and I could feel something on my neck. It was a spider crawling on me. Horrible. Luckily it crawled into view and I flicked it off.

Krazy Kreatures in particular has been a guilty pleasure of mine this last week.

@@goatbone Ugk! Reminds me of being a kid, a spider about the size of my palm lept off a wall onto my face as I walked past it. The joys of growing up in the bush.

Australia seems cool until deadly spiders live in your nintendo. I also just cooked my Nintendo and it now works perfectly. Probably the dumbest fix I’ve ever done for anything lol great vid mate.
