They could have at least regionalised the games a little bit :) Here in Australia, Contra was called 'Probotector'. I still have my original Probotector cart for my NES.
I can understand getting rid of the CRT. They are huge and unless one has huge amount of space, not exactly the number one necessary appliance any more.
Very cool story about your origins. This console looks familiar, perhaps I have seen it elsewhere, though definitely never owned one. 99-00 what was I doing back then? Ah yes, I was still at my first expedition as a university student and probably playing Star Trek The Next Generation, Birth of the Federation. Which I still am. :)
As far as knock off consoles go, I think this one is one of the better ones. Nice.

Yeah, this one is dying, so I've decided not to replace it. I've got a Retro Tink coming in the mail already own an OSSC, so we'll see how it goes.
