Hey I don’t know if you ever figured this out, but on your fm9 review you mentioned missing the feature where you could have scene specific settings for the amp and effects like in the qc or helix. What you’re looking for are called scene controllers and there’s at least one decent tutorial on that here on youtube. Hope that helps assuming you haven’t already figured it out yourself. Other than that, I’m really loving the video quality and I’m glad to see you’re posting regularly! I’ll be downloading your tones shortly to give them a run.
Thanks a ton for that! I went and searched and found this video very helpful! Great tip and a wonderful way to get at what the Helix and QC could do. Since posting my original FM9 video, I have been finding that utilizing the channels of the blocks is a wonderful method too, but does on occasion introduce gaps when switching. This scene controller method will help eliminate that for sure. But I think I'm limited to 16 total parameters I can adjust with that method, correct? 4 per Controller channel? I'll play with that for sure! ua-cam.com/video/lw6rzDGa3Io/v-deo.html
@@thetoneshepherd Honestly I’ve had my fm9 for shorter than you have so I just learned about it yesterday haha. There’s an issue I’ve discovered with channel switching reverbs/delays where if you’re playing a loud lead tone or something like that, especially if the wet effects are pre pre-amp, and then you switch to a scene with a different reverb channel, that trail that you cut off by switching channels is stored like a time bomb waiting for you to come back to that channel and it will resume the trail with a burst of noise. I can’t have that happening to me on a Sunday morning, so now I’ll be using only scene controllers instead of channels for my wet effects until they patch it. They’ve confirmed to me that they are aware of the issue, but I’ve found evidence of it being discussed in the forums going back to may of last year so who knows when that’ll happen.
For an all-in-one unit, the FM9. But there's a lot to love about the QC, especially if you already have amps and overdrive pedals that you can capture.
imo QC has a good thing going for them, hardware-wise for the most part, but the software has a lot of growing to do. They just haven’t had the advantage of being around for like 15 years as these other companies have. At least the UI is unrivaled.
Oh man, I’m sorry to say that I no longer use the Helix after moving to the Fractal and, at the moment, I’m committed to not making resources for gear that I don’t personally use on a regular basis. Check out Tone Factor and Worship Tutorials for some great base patches that you can tweak for the Helix!
@@thetoneshepherd I auditioned for the church band yesterday, and this was one of the songs. I played the parts I learned from you - and now I'm in the band! Looking forward to much more to come
@@tjhannemann Ahhhhhh soooo excited for you!! Praise God bro. Lord Jesus, give Tim a heart that is for You and You alone. May this be the beginning of a season of closeness with Yoh like he’s never experienced. Use Tim’s heart and skill to both serve the church and minister to Your heart. Give him confidence, humility and a thirst for more of You. Amen!
Thank you so much! Playing this song tonight and needed some help on it! Love this song!
So good! It's in my top 3 most favorite songs for sure
@@thetoneshepherd it’s definetly getting up there. Our church sings this song really well!
Very nice! I'm playing this in a few weeks--definitely provided great direction and inspiration!
So glad it helped Jay!
Yea - really nice job on this, thank you for posting
Thank you!
great job, dude! nailed it!
Thanks Jake! 🙏🏼
Jake, do you think he knows?

@@WaveOfPig Yep, right there with ya! I’ll be playing around with scene controllers shortly. 🙌🏼
You have earned my sub! I went to purchase the preset, but you don't have it for Helix! Oh well:)
Sooo sorry! And even for the FM9 it’s pretty outdated. But there’s a slight chance more Helix stuff could come in the future.
What you like more fm9 or QC?

Is there any place this is tabbed out? I’ve looked and I can’t find any I can’t also follow with the video😢
So sorry, I don’t offer tabs. But UA-cam has a feature where you can slow the video down, perhaps that may help!
There is an app called Ultimate Guitar: Chords and tabs
it has the song on there and the tabs needed for it
I’ve already looked but I figured it out
Helix patch please!

What chord is at 1:13? is it E-A-D on the top 3 strings?
It’s a Dsus “shape” so 10-10-9 on the E-B-G strings.
@@thetoneshepherdyou're the best! I even needed to learn this in A, so you're really helping me out :) liked and subscribed
