Today our new Milwaukee M12 2569 High Speed Extended Ratchet order finally shows up so we take it for a spin vs the previous M12 extended model and the best selling cordless ratchet on Amazon, the Kimo, as well.

Correction @ the 5:40 mark. The timer and ratchets are sped up the same, but the cut was made 20 seconds ahead on the timer. So should read 1min40, 100 seconds as recorded. As shown in our 1st ratchet episode here ua-cam.com/video/s33t9WH92CQ/v-deo.html
I'm going to start asking for half inch air drills now. I build trailers, and drill lots of half inch holes in aluminum. Know of anything with a reliable chuck?
My makita 18v ratchet is pretty good, but the battery is larger
Im quite interested in your list but have a question before buying. The places change from video to video. I dont get why the ryobi has gone above and below milwaukees depending on video even though both ratchets werent tested in that video. Things swap that arent tested. Its not a new tool trumping it its an old tested one.
“Are we being bent over a red barrel”. Pure gold!
My favorite color is red so that makes it ok!
How about a cordless ratchet from Amazon? Low cost too! ua-cam.com/video/o8rV1L4Jf4k/v-deo.html
Men are like kids we like bright colours 😂😂
I would love to see wal marts hyper tough ratchets tested. For just 60$ for an extended reach kit it’s an insane deal and both versions have been very good to me.
I'll save you the $60 and us the pain of watching...they are good for opening the box and tossing straight into the trash. Don't buy walmart tools unless you are literally just buying the tool to be used a couple times and then planning to throw away. Their internal build quality is shockingly bad even for cheap chinese garbage.
I came here to say the same thing.
No. Just no.
damn near single use tools...id rather spend that on a regular cheap socket set
The new HT extended reach ratchet isn't that bad. I mean it's no m12 ratchet.
I bought my high speed long reach 1/4" Milwaukee on pre-order back in November and paid $210 online. It just arrived last week and is everything I hoped for. These ratchets are not the tool for breaking stuck fasteners, but removing a million small fasteners on an aluminum engine, perfecto!!
I'll take the RPM over the torque.
Plus, if you're feeling spicy, get one of these spun all the way up then slam it on your fastener. It'll come free lol
John I do that to pretty much every large bolt with my Dewalt 12v extended using impact sockets. I couldn’t ask for more, it saves an incredible amount of time and I never break a sweat.
How about a cordless ratchet from Amazon? Low cost too! ua-cam.com/video/o8rV1L4Jf4k/v-deo.html
I just bought several weeks ago off the Cornwell dealer, and I love mine so far. I just used it to an A/C pump on a Chevy spark today it’s pretty tight and it got right in where my 3/8 could not!
So why did you choose the 1/4 vs the 3/8 I'm curious? For the ability to use smaller sockets to get into those tight spaces with the longer neck? Speaking of which why would they make the 1/4 neck shorter, but everything else the same for the same money.
Thank you for the Tool Rankings spreadsheet!!! I don't know how long you've offered it or how I've managed to miss it before now but it is absolutely worth the cost!
Hey thanks! For most the channel history. But its been repeatedly moved and taken down from copywrite complaints sharing this info
Absolutely loving my new Milwaukee extended reach ratchet. I work alot in very confined spaces and this guy is what I needed - narrow shaft, long reach, good enough speed. Highly recommend
How about a cordless ratchet from Amazon? Low cost too! ua-cam.com/video/o8rV1L4Jf4k/v-deo.html
if that Milwaukee ever comes down in price i'll grab it up, been working with my old non-fuel 3/8" for years due to it being smaller and this is the first Fuel version that looks compact enough, in addition to the length.
I have the non extended. Picked it up after wearing out my original non fuel. It's absolutely worth the money.
Hey, northern tool has it where if u buy the battery you get a free ratchet but it’s non fuel also for 70
Thank you so much for this. It's exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you for saving me from the mistake of buying the KIMO. It was on my Amazon wishlist for months waiting to be purchased. I'll go ahead just buy the milwaukee high speed extended. Thanks again
Bent over a red barrel is an understatement that is straight gouging.
I almost bought the Kimo. Glad I saw this
I LOVE tools and YOUR commentary! sarcastic humor is best!
Dunno, I bought a cheapo Posenpro non-long reach about 6 months ago & I love it more than I love my dog. IMO, it rocks. I presume a Milwaukee one would uber-rock, but the Posen was 60 quid, I work it every single day (at work) and it has never once annoyed me or let me down. Best 60 quid I spent on a tool, ever - and I own a world of tools.
Would love to see the m12 ratchets tested with new high output batteries.
Hello again Torque Test Channel
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I agree with your comment about the Kimo, all I can say is Wow!!!!
Appreciate your testing. Thanks for the Videos.
The new 3/8 milwaukee is definitely fast, I was surprised when removing a bolt the other day lol I thought it had snapped off
I'll hold out for a sale on the M12 long reach, but I love my standard high speed 👌
I have the extended reach low speed ratchet, I have had almost two years and I use it dally. I have beaten the crap out of this ratchet and has worked flawlessly. I have used it to do rear toe links on some Cadillac’s, GMC, and Chevrolet’s and will bust the loose just using the ratchet, it has great low end torque. It’s not fast but still way faster than using a hand ratchet. I prefer the Milwaukee ratchet’s because with a 2.5 amp battery in them their not as bulky as others are.
The Kimo footage is very helpful. Thanks!
Been waiting on this. Almost pulled the trigger on the extended 3/8 milwaukee just a week ago when it went on sale.
I really love ratchet videos. Can you incorporate air in the next episode? Id love to see how my eq38r impacting air ratchet can do. The impacting air ratchets feel very strong and I love doing brake jobs and engine work with the power and speed combo.
Thank you for having a great channel that makes tool buying carefree. ⚒️
I almost bought the Kimo a couple of months ago. Thanks for this, I was still thinking about it.
I’m probably gonna get the new high speed long reach in 1/4 drive, but I’m torn on the 3/8. 1/4 is definitely for speed and access, so I’m not as worried about torque. The last long reach Milwaukee had pretty good torque, but the head was huge. I really like the smaller head on the new one, but for the price and torque drop, I’m not sure how I wanna go yet.
we just got the 1/4 in m12 high speed extended, so far were loving it
I got the short Kimo kit to do a Subaru timing belt job a yr or 2 ago and it did fine for that still works fine ok for diy use.
I agree! Does fine forvme TOO!
5hank you! Great test.
Very informative!
Very funny!! Great video as always!
I found one on OfferUp for $150 brand new. 3/8 high speed ratchet is a beast. Definitely recommend it. Negative thing about it is the price. $250 is high but it sure does beat strap on. I’m sure Christmas will have good deals.
Two things:
1. That kimo ratchet looks EXACTLY the same as the Diehard one that Advanced Auto Parts sells. Same battery, battery charger, and ratchet, just a different color scheme, and I'm not sure if they sell an extended version. If you're wondering the Diehard advertises 230rpm and 33lb-ft of torque.
2. Could you test the Makita ratchet? If I am not mistaken, they advertise 800rpm. I'd be interested in how usable that actually is.
I’ve had the kimo for almost 2 years. I also own the die hard one. Die hard is more torquy. But the kimo has held up for 2 years great. I got it for $49 back then. The charger is slightly different because the pins aren’t on the same side, so you can’t use either or to charger each other. But the thing I love the most, I’m not afraid to beat the shit out of it. I’ve dropped it, had diesel and grease all over, and this baby held up. They also have a bunch of nice tools that use the same battery. The die hard flash light though is a POS and doesn’t come with the charger lol.
My Prostormer looks the same, and is blue.
Damn that’s crazy!! Thanks for the info! I love RED!!
Thank you for all your awesome videos. Milwaukee is more expensive but the quality usually shows. You don't want something breaking all the time, I'd want something proven again and again to be durable. Plus 5 year warranty on the tool is an awesome warranty.
Sometimes it shows. Not always though and less and less these days.
@vaderdudenator1 yeah but usually with Milwaukee your ok. I bought a set of brushed m18 (impact, drill, Sawzall, circular saw) back in 2008 I'm in construction, so I used them pretty much every day until last year when I bought all new fuel tools. The only problem I had was the brushes finally went in my impact back in 2022 so I purchased new ones and put them in. It's now good to go again. The batteries still work for some reason ahha
I’ve been beating on my kimo ratchet for 2 years now and works just as good as when it was new
Wish I saw this before I bought my Kimo a few months ago lol for occasional use, I guess it does the job just fine but after seeing this, it looks like there are much better options out there around the same price point
Apparently, Walmart's Hyper Tough ratchets, $40 for the short and $60 for the long, have a cult following.
I don't think anybody would sing high praises about _Hyper Tough_ unless they were presently surprised by one, lol.
I spent $50 on a Chinese brand 3/8 electric ratchet on Amazon, came with 2 batteries, a charger, and extra sockets.
I just do light work around the house and yard, so it seems to be holding up well so far. Would not recommend it to someone like a mechanic or technician, but to be fair it’s only $50 haha.
Now that I look at it, it looks awfully similar to the Kimo. Maybe they just rebranded it and sold it under a different brand😅
i own the Kimo and its done good by me. i just upgraded to the Makita just because i got it free in a kit
ive been using the kimo 1/2 inch impact, 3/8 ratchet and 12v drill. the price was so good i had to find out
Also note snap-ons and Matco are like $500-900
Another awesome review. Thanks
Thank You for sharing
Would love to see you test the new impact wrenches from Bauer, as well as the new cutoff tools from bauer and Hercules.
I just picked up one of the extended red ones and after a day of use it's a really nice size, but I would definitely trade some speed for tq. it's very very week. like much weaker than the brushed old school ones. I would take a extended reach brushed over it. oh well I'll keep it, but it's a bit annoying to be weaker than my brushed ones haha.
I've been waiting to see the Makita ratchet. Thought I missed a video but looking back and seeing your test matrix i don't see it listed.
Y bought 3/8 high speed (short) and works very well, its expensive but y think its worth, and also it can put hexagonal adapter and hexagonal drill bit for compact sites. I apreciate you videos. And sorry my bad english.
Hello again Torque Test Channel
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 Since you mentioned the Husky ratchet. How does that compare to the Milwaukee ratchet? I am researching for my next purchase. Again thank you
The kimo looks like it didn't beat cancer.
"...when asked to do more than just spin in the air is sort of hating life."😂
One thing I wish this year took reviewers do is a comparison of tools branded and not branded cordless ratchet/ impacts/ drills / overall platforms on the recharging time it really takes from wasted dead battery to a full battery test , and how different a branded and not branded will last on their own battery on a job task bench test.... I was almost fooled by the green tool rpm 😂
i have the old extended version, my biggest complaint is the RPM.
it's super convenient for things like header bolts or the like though.
Got the Ridgid 18v ratchet for 89 during their deal where you get a battery, impact wrench, and ratchet for 169
The tiny 4v Ryobi ratchet looks so cute and compact. I assume it's really weak. But thinking about it - I'd love to see it compared with a drill/driver or installation driver.
I have a Bosch installation driver, and a 1/4" hex to square driver. I'm really curious how it compares head to head with the new 4v Ryobi ratchets.
Next time I'm doing work on my car, I'm gonna have to try comparing it to my M12 brushed ratchet.
The size and speed sold it for me. Still feel like it’s a better buy around $200 though. Also, patiently waiting for the review of the new Hercules 1/4” driver. Rumor has it she looks a lot like the Milwaukee Gen 3 on the inside.
I got the kimo ratchet for Christmas and so far I'm loving it! It's not the extended version but for what it is, it works great! And it came with 2 batteries, some sockets, and a nice case.
that figures. I bought the Long Shaft Milwaukee 2 years ago when they only made the slow speed
now they came out with the fast speed
I waited on the short shaft because I knew the faster version was coming. at least I have one fast version
Would really like to see the NEW 3/8 and 1/2 brushless and cordless Bauer impacts!
When I saw a new ratchet video I was hoping it would include the 18v Makita one. That one has some impressive speed claims, and also has interchange heads.
Yea but that's gotta be a chunky boy. There is no small 18v battery really. That's something people don't get with this m12 line(recently alot of hate videos cuz companies are FINALLY catching up)is they are achieving with a tiny 12v battery what most companies need 18v to do. ESP now that they have their HO batteries in the compact size...not much can compare to it's size and power
Can you do some testing on variours tools with the new high output m12 batteries? Would love to see the comparisons
I have a kimo that my kids got for me 3 yrs ago for xmas, and it still works to this day. And its definetly better than the version that was tested in this vid.
I hope you're not assembling Teslas with that thing!
@physical wombat Why would i have to cope , works perfectly fine for me. And it was a gift from my kids.
@@BlumpkinSpiceLatte probably why teslas are catching on fire
@@TwoFeatherChannel hey at least they run so much cleaner than gas cars. Range problem can be solved by towing a gas generator and some Jerry cans 😂
@@BlumpkinSpiceLatte 😂😂😂😂 I have one of the Kimo ratchets too and have had it for a couple of years and it works good for me, I use it weekly too. I don't know what model that is in the video but mine is way faster than that.
Would also be nice to see a vid on the Durofix RW1210 G12 Series 12V Cordless 3/8" 65 ft-lbs. Brushless Ratchet Wrench.
Which is same exact as ACDelco one made by Durofix for General Motors. Seems to be shown to be a pretty tough ratchet.
Pulled the trigger and got the M12 HS extended today. 249.99 but I got a free 2.5ah battery with it though
Thanks 🙏 REALLY appreciate your videos. Can you PLEASE do a comparison of only the “extended reach” ratchets, or at least an update to include the Bosch, Seesii, Makita 18V, AC Delco, 16V AlloyMan, the Skill extended, and even the DuroFX 12V? Just wondering how they stack up against the new Milwaukee 3/8 extended reach. Thanks much
Could you do a comparison between the new high speed 3/8 extended reach ratchet and the old NON high speed 1/4 extended reach ratchet. I converted my 1/4 to 3/8 would like to see how it compares.
Can you guys please test the Ingersoll Rand 12 volt ratchet. I know it's old and most likely out classed . But it would be very interesting to watch . I have an also old Mac ratchet it can run against, if that helps .
Thanks for the warning and comedy 👍🙂
Very good video
I’d like to see the Milwaukee specs on neutral drops and the older but still available brushed version
Have you tested that Hyper Tough ratchet for wally world? I wouldn't expect too much but at least it's cheaper than the Kimo. $60 for a kit with a 2 year warranty is tempting for sure. I already have one Hercules ratchet so I'll likely buy another if I want an extended reach version.
Keymo is also a suppressor mounting system
Well that was interesting. Although, I have to ask, what happened to the "Running Milwaukee M12 Tools On a Car Battery" episode I saw the notification for it pop up a little while ago but then I clicked it a bit later when I had time and it was gone?
I have the Husky and though it is not a professional tool, it is great for work around my house and on my vehicles. It’s a great value for $50-60 or so. It’s really hard to beat for the money.
where can you find it at that price? Ive only seen them for $100
@aaron pimentel Judging by some comments here, I might go looking at Hyper Tough for a cheap cordless ratchet.
I'm surprised, too, but Walmart's car batteries tend to be top-notch stuff.
@@aaronpimentel7173 they put it on sale certain times of the year.
I bought it on sale for $60 a couple years ago, and use it professionally. Honestly, the only gripe I have about it is an integrated battery.
I mean I use mine professionally, thing works great.
Definitely paying for the warranty on the Milwaukee. I’ve sent in several already of the new ones because my customers think they’re a 1/2” breaker bar. 🤦🏼
You mean extended reach and increased torque aren't synonyms?!?!?!?!
@@svgPhoenix They give you an extra foot to use for leverage, obviously. Why else would they make the tool resemble a breaker bar?
That was sarcasm.
You forgot on we more important contender, harbor freight also has a long reach rachet under the Hercules brand. I been using it for years and am very happy with it
We didn't forget it ua-cam.com/video/WjZees7srsU/v-deo.html
I'd like to see more compact 1/4" drive tested. I have both a 3/8" drive and a 1/4" drive and the 1/4" gets a lot more use in my garage.
I have the Milwaukee. It’s a four out of 10 for breaking or tightening bolts, but it spins them in and out super quick. I love it.
Curious to see if DeWalt's new swappable 3/8-1/2 anvil 20v XR ratchet is any better than the Atomic 20v models. They claim a whopping additional 5ft-lbs, but also 50 RPM.
I love my snap on battery rachets! Not as fast as the Milwaukee but very strong tho
With the inflation seen last year, I wonder if new products are going to seem surprisingly more expensive? I don't know if price impacts the rankings enough that you would need to try and compensate for that though
I've been curious about AC Delco's cordless ratchets, didn't know they made them or tools for that matter until recently.
Thanks for this. I have been wanting to buy one but I have not found a good value one.
Hi handsome great channel and product review
Wish you would test the Durofix RW1216-3P G12 Series 12V ratchet and the ACDelco ARW1210-3P G12 Series 12V ratchets and see how they stack up against the red tools.
I'm an old school aircraft tool maker, we used air tools almost exclusively. My question is do modern electric tools have more torque than older air tools?
No way. Don't airtools work stronger the more pressure you use? These have the benefit of not being stuck to airhose.
The best ratchets to buy if your on Milwaukee wagon, is the regular short high speed, and the 1/4 extended with a 3/8 anvil from the non fuel ratchet.
This one got a even smaller head that the old extended reach 1/4
Hell the 1/4 extended high speed use the same head as the 3/8
interested to see how the acdelco one fares
You should try the new hypertough from walmart they offer long and versions
Can you do air ratchets? I'm very interested in the SP Air 7730, the specs look too good to be true.
do you have a top 3 for 1/4 inch High-Speed Ratchet?
I would love to see compare Menards house brand Maserforce in your tests. Menard is a large box store like Homedepot in the Midwest.
Do you have an updated excel sheet of all your data for us to look at like on view only so we can’t edit it but still use your data to make purchases for ourselves
I bought a hyper tough unit at wal mart for 1/2 what this kimo cost, so far its worked pretty well for me, though I am sure it wouldnt outperform the milwaukees. Id sure love to see you test it though! Appreciate your videos and what you do. You actually get around to doing things I only have time to think about doing...for years now! LOL
Just got one myself. It definitely doesn't like much resistance. Which I'll just accept for the price frankly, and if it's too slow I'll return it... Or rip it apart and see if there's something that can be improved.
@@accordv6er improved… such as what?
The time you’re spending figuring out that there’s NOTHING you can do to ‘improve’ a sub $50 cordless ratchet, would probably put you up into the “probably should’ve just bought the new Milwaukee” area… 🤷🏻♂️
@@ianloyd6384 I have M12 ratchets already for more accessible ones, as well as various impacts and Milwaukee ratcheting wrenches. It's got a unique form factor and I'm curious. Why are you such a dick who would rather pay other people to solve things than be interested in how they work?
Send it to the TT guys. :)
I still think that Kimo would test better than the old vonhaus cordless ratchet. I had before the dewalt ratchets came out lol.
I have the old style black headed one that is not fuel. Nothing has been submerged in multiple liquids, dropped and it never fails me
Have you seen that gap to the casing when handtighting with the Kimo 🤣
Hey on eBay I saw a battery adapter for a Kobalt 24v battery to a Milwaukee and Dewalt 18v tool what would happen if someone overvolted the 18v tool would that perform like sending more psi through an impact wrench?
Supply and demand is what sets prices not how much production costs are however production costs usually play a role in the prices that's usually only in price increases and not in decreases.
I still have my husky after three years and still doing the job. For $59 bucks on sale, I should have bought two!
@0:47... It's $250 now because it's new. Milwaukee often drops the prices after several months. If you wanna be the first in the shop with the new tools, you gotta pay for that privilege. I usually wait. @5:30... Looks like the long driveshaft is absorbing some torque and decreasing the rpm under load compared to the shorter version.
Kimo pays for reviews as well. I bought a backpack sprayer from them and they started offering me free batteries and tools for positive reviews on them.
you should test the new flex batteries!
Plans on testing matco, snap on, Mac etc? And maybe doing a 1/4 drive version set of videos
Oh yeah I bought the KIMO a year or so ago, when Amazon had it for $80. It came recommended by an auto repair channel as a way of accessing a tough spot under the hood for light duty work. Joke's really on me however, as I still haven't done that timing belt job and we're apparently waiting to see if the engine tosses its valves into the pistons.
Overall, I view any right-angle power tool as an act of desperation: They're all compromised, plus you get to pay extra for the reduced performance.
Awesome video. I’m glad I watched this before spending my money on the Kimo. Those Amazon ratings are so misleading. Milwaukee is definitely the one.
What about the Makita XRW01Z? It came down in price. About 100 bucks on Amazon now. I have no problems with mine.
