Just want to make it clear that the switch is the 3rd best selling console of all time. Beating out the competitors in the last generation and this generation
Have you ever considered that maybe you aren't in the target demographic for Nintendo anymore? Have you ever considered that many consumers don't care about the graphical intensity of a system, and just want games that are fun and well designed? Did you just forget to look at the sales numbers to see that the Switch has greatly outsold the PS5, and is still selling well, even 7 years into its life?
@@far7687 no I never considered that. I especially didn’t consider that when I mentioned specifically that Nintendo is targeted toward kids and now I’m an adult
@@RobbysGameGarage Okay, fair point. But the point of this video was to argue that Nintendo "fell off" (I mean, you literally said that in the description). So how could you say they "fell off" if their system is selling very well, and most of the games they release on it are critical and commercial successes?
@@RobbysGameGarage Also, just because you addressed one point doesn't mean you can just gloss over the other two (or at least if you do gloss over them, you're pretty much admitting that my points are correct).
yeah I instantly stopped watching the video when you mentioned the wii u, like bro whats very bad about it? edit: also that wii to wii u comparison was just backward compatibility
And another response to this. First of all, the reason the Switch has "the power of the PS3" (which it doesn't) is because Nintendo doesn't care about making the most powerful console ever, that ended with the Wii, which yes was their most successful console BECAUSE they made it for both demographics and that was a first. Nintendo has not even come close to falling off at all and in recent facts, the Switch 2 is coming out very soon to which it'll fix a lot of the problems with the original Switch which for people who hated will most likely look back and change their opinion. I agree that some of their decisions like the E-Shop have been......terrible. But they're not going anywhere for a very long time. (By the way, Wii U sales have been increasing massively because people want the old tech again. Along with the DS franchise to which exploded due to the DS/Wii E-Shop closing.)
@@RobbysGameGarage In the last year, 123 million peopled played the switch. It literally still sells better than the PS5 and Xbox Series X.This guy is speaking absolute facts, this is ragebait. @@RobbysGameGarage Brother, they've already said they're not going for exceptional power. They just want to make good games, in which they have. Stop whining for gods sake and go back to your PS5 Pro and let people enjoy the older consoles
You talk about the Switch's lack of power as a problem, and yet the Wii - a similarly under powered system for the time - you gave your praises to, calling it the "peak of the mountain" for Nintendo. It just seems a little contradictory to me...
I also believe they need to seriously upgrade the tech however nintendo being nintendo, them not having top of the line specs isn’t the end of the world. The franchises that ur able to play on nintendo u can’t get anywhere else. That’s why they have been able to get away with it. The portability factor is also huge. I think having something like the switch however when docket having 4k 120 fps would be huge.
Other than the virtual boy, I don’t think Nintendo has ever had a bad console. Considering all the trash the new consoles have, Nintendo in my eyes, is nowhere near “mid” as dumb kids say these days. Can’t wait to see what they do with their next system. That’s something I’ve never said for any Xbox or PlayStation console.
Ngl, to be blunt, Nintendo's consoles were never "good". The thing is, their games, are absolutely amazing. Those games tend to be amazing, in spite of a rough console. 3d games on the n64 with poor camera controls and lackluster performance to support the new 3d game style; yet creating Mario 64, one of the most iconic 3d games ever made. A weird gimmick controller shaped like a tv remote to try to welcome broader audiences, and forcing those motion controls in your titles; yet making more iconic 3d games that happen to have motion controls like Mario Galaxy, and Wii Sports. An awkward misunderstood tablet controller that gave users an extra screen while playing console games on a tv? Yet redefining the Zelda formula and making one of the best open world games ever made with Breath of the Wild. Again, Nintendo's consoles were never "good". Their games though, are absolutely amazing, in spite of the quirkiness and lackluster consoles they were made for. Here's to hoping they make bangers for years to come
This has been a very interesting point of view. We could always argue opinions till we are blue in the face and never get anywhere. Unfortunately this video wasn't long enough to include any facts or numbers combined with events of the time. Work harder and research more. And remember, Nintendo is going to Nintendo. 😁
@@samedwards1270 facts in this video: - Switch has the power of a PS3 - The Wii was Nintendos best console - The Wii U was a flop - Early Nintendo games laid the ground for what video games have become - This has been the longest period of time Nintendo has gone without releasing a major console
@@RobbysGameGarage Here are some facts: - The Wii was underpowered for its time, and that wasn't a problem for you, so why is the Switch being underpowered a problem? - "The Wii was Nintendo's best console" is not a fact at all. That's completely subjective. - These other facts do NOTHING to prove that the Switch is bad. Let me make something abundantly clear. I am not against you for arguing something different from what I believe. I am just of the belief that if you want to argue something, you should actually provide evidence to support your claim, which you haven't done.
I think the beginning of the downfall of Nintendo was the direction they decided to take after the GameCube with the release of the Wii. Now before people start shitting on me, yes, the Wii is still a good console overall, but the direction that Nintendo took is still not ideal. The decision to essentially not compete with Sony and Microsoft and to instead focus on family and motion games is what is annoying to me and most other adult gamers. Rather than give up on the console wars, they should have doubled down with a true GameCube successor. Still make the family-oriented games like Mario, but also offer all of the games on Xbox and Playstation as well (and not shitty-motion controlled versions). Forget the motion controls. Forget being able to switch between TV-docked and handheld mode, we're going back to a traditional, plug-in console. Nintendo got too cute, and serious gamers don't like it. If they would just make a legitimate competitor to the PS5 and Xbox (a powerhouse console with a strong processor and graphics card), Microsoft and Sony would really have to step their game up. Imagine a console just as powerful as a PS5, with all the games like GTA, Call of Duty, 2k, etc, etc, but you also still have all the Mario and Zelda games as well. And also imagine if Nintendo did all of this with free online play. Sony and Microsoft wouldn't be able to compete. Microsoft would have to start relying heavily on Halo and Sony would have to start banking on their exclusives, because there would be no reason to get their consoles otherwise.
The problem was both n64, and gamecube failed because they were fighting. When they did the change both the wii, and switch have sold over 100 million consoles, and they have successfully built something unique. Yes the wiiu was a bad mess, but everything else has done very well. I would rather have Nintendo be here, then what happened to Saga with a dreamCast where they tried then gave up.
@rj-the-red6767 The N64 and GameCube "failed" (maybe sales-wise, but they both were great consoles) because they didn't offer online-play and they didn't offer the same game selection as the Xbox and Playstation. Like I said, imagine a Nintendo console that is just as powerful as a PS5, that you can play GTA and Call of Duty on, and ALSO play Mario and Zelda on. And if Nintendo went back to free online play like the Wii had, it'd be over. Other than to play Halo or some other exclusive, there'd be no reason to own an Xbox or PlayStation again.
@@TheVideoGametuts they are great, and they had some of the best games out thier to this date, but why they failed is because of Nintendo being Nintendo. The n64 stayed with the Cartridge, not having the space the cd did have, and gamecube had the same problem with the smaller disk with smaller space. Nintendo will never make something like the ps5 because Nintendo isn't playstation, or Xbox. They are thier own thing, AKA the n64, and gamecube were different. In some ways. They did not have very good 3rd party support ether even when their console were on par with the other consoles of the time. So Nintendo changed with the time, and they are still making hardware, and still working on games. Say what you will, and the switch 2 could be something like what you talk about
